Bulldog Tactical Equipment Redesigns Tow Strap

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Designed to deal with the weight of the MRAP this new Tow Strap has demonstrated a straight pull strength of 98,600 lbs in testing. This product is available in two standard lengths, 15’ and 30’. However, Bulldog will do custom lengths for larger orders. The 30’ Tow Strap can be stored in less than one cubic foot and weighs less than 11 lbs and the 15’ Tow Strap only weighs 6 lbs. In addition to the user-friendly weight and size, the Bulldog Tow Strap is also buoyant and UV resistant. However, in my opinion one of the most important features is that it stores no kinetic energy, eliminating any whipping effect making it safer to use than other tow straps on the market.

What makes Bulldog’s offering unique is that it is designed to have the radio pulled away from the body to facilitate manipulation of the controls. The radio is pulled forward so all you do is look down and you can see the face. Additionally, the retention system keeps the radio attached even if the top buckle is undone. The pouch is PALS compatible but can also be belt mounted.

More on Mirage

Up to now information on Bulldog Equipment’s Mirage camo has been under serious wraps. To even look at photos, a perspective customer had to provide proof of affiliation with the US military. But apparently, that has all changed.

Our friends at Strike Hold! have additional photos of the camo in operational settings and information on a second generation of the uniform. According to the article, gone are the Superfabric knees and elbows and mesh panels have been incorporated into the design. We thought these had only been part of the Sniper uniform but it seems that troops wear testing the garments preferred the feature.

Mirage Camo

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Bulldog Equipment unveiled the new Mirage camouflage pattern at AUSA in October of last year. At SOFIC they modified their display of tactical equipment to feature their new uniform system in the Mirage pattern. The uniform consists of a Fire Resistant Undershirt, Garrison Combat Top, Summer Combat Top, and Pants. The garments are well made and include features that were developed through direct feedback from testers. These include super fabric reinforced knees, elbows and, shoulders, reinforced crotch, over-sized pen pockets to accommodate chemlights and sharpie markers as well as reinforcements in other areas of high abrasion. In addition to uniform items they have also produced versions of their assault pack and sniper drag bag in Mirage pattern. Although they are quiet about possible customers, Bulldog remains adamant that they will restrict the innovative pattern to US DoD only.
