Prometheus Design Werx – Raider Field Pant

Sunday, January 21st, 2018

New for 2018, San Francisco based specialty adventure products company Prometheus Design Werx debuts their Raider Field Pant 5050RS. Built as a rugged field pant, this style is a non-cargo design in a clean utility appearance, built for the outdoors and today’s active EDC user in mind.

A total of 11 pockets to stash and organize as little or as many EDC items as needed. The tried and true US MILSPEC 5050 NYCO ripstop fabric is durable and breathes without weighing the user down. Dedicated EDC Tool Pockets, dual no-twist custom made delta rings for keychain-carabiner clip points, 4 welt pockets and double layer articulated reinforced knees round out these pant’s features. Produced with industrial grade triple needle stitching on all major seams. Designed, cut and sewn in California, USA.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“We designed and created a versatile and easily worn field pant style, that would be at home in the 4×4, trail, range, workshop and to the pub. The 5050 NYCO rip stop it’s built in has been a favored fabric that our Chief Designer has used for almost 18 years now. It’s almost a perfect everyday weight in variety of conditions, breathes well and holds up in the wilderness to the street. Our feature set is becoming more familiar now to our customers and suits today’s smart, well equipped back country EDCer. Dialed more towards outdoor use than our EDC Pant, the Raider drew its inspriation from vintage military dungarees and utilities. We reimagined what something like that might look today. The horizontal hand pockets in this design clears pack, to work, to 1st line type belts. While this run is in the 5050 NYCO rip stop, we plan on offerin this same style in a few different fabrics. This pant is current the PDW Staff favorite at work and in the field.”

The Raider Field Pant 5050RS will be an evergreen seasonal style for Prometheus Design Werx. They will be available in Dark Arid Earth, Machine Mineral Gray and Dark Leaf Green.

Prometheus Design Werx – Invictus MIL-LE DC Edition

Duty Folder Built for Military and Law Enforcement Users

53637138-6C51-4C75-A280-73B117DC264B

Prometheus Design Werx launches their v2 of their Invictus™ MIL-LE coil sprung folding knife. Designated as the “DC” Edition, this variant features newly engineered handles which signifcantly reduced mill time on the CNC during production to allow for a much more attractive retail price point compared to their v1. Designed and produced for the Military and Law Enforcement user in mind, this folder’s blade is quickly deployed with only one hand via a GID inlaid push button and backed by a sliding safety to prevent accidental activation. This build features a type-III hard anodized, aeorspace grade 6061-T6 alloy handle, subdued deep ride pocket clip, handle fullers & jimping, lanyard slot, and a high grade industrial tumbled finish on an all purpose 3.5” modified spear point 154CM blade. Produced entirely in the USA.

The PDW Invictus™ MIL-LE DC Edition will be first available with a type-III hard anodized black handle with other options and combos to be available in the future.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“The PDW Invictus™ MIL-LE DC Edition is our signature, mid-sized folding knife pattern produced with our Military and Law Enforcement customers specifically in mind. An expertly built, edged tool made for those who serve and protect. As much as we were proud of the fully contoured handles in the previous model, we also had to take into consideration, the long term production costs making this folder a more tenable folder for duty carry. The new chamfered flat scale handle retains all the design and functional characteristics of the original, but with a great reduction of mill time on the CNC, we were able to reduce the retail on this DC model by over 30%. We think all of our core users in the MIL-LE community would appreciate that.

Precision CNCed and ground in the USA, our Invictus™ folder design is an instantly recognizable aesthetic and styling, characteristic of a purpose driven, lifelong design direction, and ethos. This folder is inspired by and takes its design cues from the tried and trued millennia old spear point blade silhouettes, to the tapered capsule shapes of streamlined arcs of aerospace, and the purposeful fluting and texturing of the modern machine age as found in high grade tools to precision barrels. This MIL-LE Edition has a fast, powerful coil spring for rapid one-handed blade deployment when seconds count. This folder is a high standard automatic for users that need speed and accessibility when on patrol and on duty. This is one of the finest production automatic folders currently made in the USA.”

The Invictus™ MIL-LE DC Edition is available to purchase by qualifying personnel by visiting their website, prometheusdesignwerx.com.

A Best-in-Class, Updated, American Outdoor Classic

IMG_5052

This Fall-Winter 2017, Prometheus Design Werx introduces their new Mountain Shirt. The design and build quality will speak to men who know and always choose high calibre gear and clothing. The Mountain Shirt embodies industrial workwear grade construction such as triple needle stitching and double elbows. This style also features a detail unique to PDW design direction, a dedicated pocket to stash your favorite ferrorod-fire steel. PDW used American sourced Wool Melton to build these shirts, which is a tried and trued fabric for wilderness use. Wool has many advantages such as no-melt, no-drip and insulates even when damp-wet. Subtle modern touches which improve durability and comfort include no-loss parasmock style buttons and an engineered pattern for freedom of movement. The Mountain Shirt is a modern classic, crafted to last, and in the pursuit of a life of your choosing.

The PDW Mountain Shirt will be available in 2 weights and 3 colors, starting with a 14oz. Heather Charcoal Gray or OD Green, and followed a Special Edition in heavy duty 21oz., Navy Blue, genuine Woolrich.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“There is no better made, finer quality a Wool Melton outdoor men’s shirt being built in America today. The Mountain Shirt was built to last and survive not only the wilderness, but weather fleeting trends and low grade materials that come and go. Cut with a squaretail, the Mountain Shirt doesn’t have to be fussed about and tucked-in to be worn comfortably. The overall styling and design intent of our shirt are drawn from the proven outdoor wear that has withstood the test of time and also a strong nod to the iconic USN CPO shirt. These are themes and considerations that have been consistently found in our design ethos from the beginning. This shirt is designed and built for use in the wilderness. Unlike most other wool style outdoor shirts, we use industrial workwear grade triple needle stitching on all major seams, double reinforced elbows, custom made parasmock style buttons that won’t come off, and unique to our design, a dedicated pocket to stash your favorite ferrorod-fire steel. From the Yukon, the Land of a Thousand Lakes, to the Adirondacks the PDW Mountain Shirt will be right at home and on your back. We craft and build this shirt in San Francisco, CA. A city with along tradition of producing some of the world’s finest workwear starting from the days of the great Gold Rush in the 19th Century, to the peak of ship building during WWII, and beyond. PDW is proud to carry on some of that tradition in this Modern Age.”

Performance, Technical Hoodie in 4-Way Stretch Polartec for 3+ Season Use

IMG_4826

New for Fall 2017, San Francisco based specialty adventure products group Prometheus Design Werx introduces their Spectrum Hoodie. This design is a high performance, 4-way stretch, technical full zip hoodie in a streamlined and minimalist design which will find itself practical, useful and versatile in a wide variety of uses cases. Equally at home on a cool, crisp morning at a challenging red point, piloting your rig over the Rubicon, a last minute red eye to Tokyo, to a day of sampling food trucks. Wear over a tee, or easily under a shell or down sweater. Made with a Polartec Power Stretch Pro the Spectrum offers unparalleled freedom of movement, a smooth face with DWR to shrug off the damp-sprinkles, and a lofted fleece inner face that is exceptionally comfortable. Designed and built in CA, USA.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“We wanted the Spectrum Hoodie to be one of our most versatile mid-layers. That’s where the style name is drawn from; a hoodie that could function and operate in a wide spectrum of conditions. One that you could grab-and-go in 3+ seasons and for almost any activity. This hoodie really moves with you, the technical performance of the Polartec Power Stretch Pro is some of the best we’ve ever come across and used. The Spectrum Hoodie is our favorite travel hoodie due to its versatile weight, exceptional comfort, and clean-neat appearance. We specially cut the MLH hood so it could be pulled over the eyes to block light so you can catch a cat nap when you’re on the fly. We went back to the drawing board when it came to looking at how to newly design a cuff with thumbholes, and created new pattern which is not only draft resistant but is more comfortable and sleek. The Spectrum also features 4 pockets, dummy cord keepers, smooth flatlock stiching, and double elbows on high wear points. This hoodie is for anyone who’s actions speak louder than words.”
