Outdoor Retailer – TASC

Wednesday, July 31st, 2013

I’ve written about TASC and their great clothing made from proprietary bamboo fabrics several times. In fact, my favorite T-shirts are TASC Carrollton. For a long time I’ve hopes that they’d offer these in Desert Sand and finally they are available. I cannot recommend the TASC Carrollton enough. With raglan sleeves, flat seams and a comfortable, loose fit, the Carrollton has seen me through many an active day. The bamboo fibers have an inherent ability to wick moisture and is antimicrobial. Additionally, it is very breathable and comfortable against the skin. Because these properties are at the fiber level, they won’t wash out.

Below is the Hybrid Fitted Short Sleeve which integrates flow mesh panels for cooling and is more of an active wear piece.

tasc Blaze SS Crew

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

I picked up some tasc Performance boxer briefs over Christmas break and really like them. Now, I’ve picked up the Blaze SS Crew and I love it. It combines materials and design to produce a comfortable shirt with a very soft hand.

Manufactured from tasc’s Performance Jersey and FlowMesh fabrics, the Blaze short sleeve crew neck t-shirt is a great choice for PT. The jersey knit (55% Organic Cotton, 40% Viscose from Bamboo, 5% Elastane) is super comfy and the mesh is still a tight enough weave that there aren’t holes you can see straight through yet remains very breathable. The mesh vent ingenuously wraps like a raglan sleeve around the top of the shoulder forming a yoke across the upper back and then down into the armpit. But then, the sleeve attaches like a standard t-shirt. Flat seams (even on the body) ensure comfort, even under a pack. The Blaze is also generously cut for plenty of ventilation. The design is topped off with a great narrow crew neck with plenty of elasticity that won’t bacon neck.

It also features UPF 50+ protection from the sun as well as anti-odor and moisture wicking properties.

Available in Heather Gray, Gunmetal, Ultra Blue and Navy. Only the Heather Gray is two-tone. Sizes Small – XXLarge.

TASC Performance Clothing

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

TASC clothing was formed to produce performance apparel using natural fibers. I had read a couple of reviews and the other day I ran across their boxer briefs at a local outdoor store. So, I picked a pair up. TASC claims that the material will remain odor free. While I haven’t worn them for a week straight like some testers, I can say that they are very comfortable, featuring flat seams and a fabric made from 55% Organic Cotton, 40% Viscose from Bamboo, and 5% Elastane. Additionally, there is a knit fly which helps keep the air flowing. Although my experience is still new, I haven’t noticed any stretching out of shape. Based on this product, I’m looking forward to finding some of their t-shirts as well.

Currently available in Black with a couple of acid green stitches that are barely noticeable. Having said that, the guys at USN should go crazy for these.
