It’s “Clothing Sales Store”; there’s no “and” in the title. Doing so is the military equivalent of putting an “x” in the word “asked.”

If you call it clothing and sales on SSD prepare to be belittled.

That is all…

ZULU SIX Starring Dale Comstock, Jim Erwin and Max Mullen

A new movie starring Dale Comstock, Jim Erwin and Howard ‘Mad Max’ Mullen films this spring. As you can see by the trailer, some of the work has already been completed.

Written/Produced/Directed by Jeff Reyes with Chris De Pretis as additional Producer, ‘ZULU SIX’ looks to be a zombie movie. But with these guys involved, it might prove to be pretty interesting. Both Comstock and Erwin have recently been very active building their individual brands by utilizing the experience gained during military service in an Army Special Mission Unit but Max Mullens is no slouch himself. In certain circles he is very well known, having been recently inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame. Heck, he even boasts his own action figure.

The Modi – New Knife from Oden Gear

Saturday, February 15th, 2014

Retired Army Special Forces Soldier Chance Giannelli learned about knife making while stationed at SWC at Fort Bragg before retiring, entering the contracting world and ultimately, creating his new company Oden Gear. For a time, a variety of knifemakers came out to Bragg and provided basic instruction to SF trainers in the art of knifemaking which was not only considered therapeutic but turns out, imparted some skill into some of the participants. One of those knifemakers who participated in the program was Ryan Johnson of RMJ Tactical who told me about Chance and his new knife, the Modi, named for the Norse god of battle and going berserk.

SF Knife with sheath

Each 10.5″ full-tanged blade is hand ground by Chance from 1/4″ thick 52100 steel and then finished with a Mil Standard Desert Tan powder coat and 550 cord wrapped handle. There are currently two versions. The serial numbered versions are $250.00 with non-serial numbers at $175.00. At the time of this writing he has several serial numbered ones in-stock with 3-5 weeks out on non-serial numbered ones. Non-serial numbered knives are available with different wraps or handle material.

SF Kinife

Chance is using this new knife to give back. $50.00 from each sale will go to Special Forces Chapter 100 and used to help the family members of a fallen or wounded Green Berets.

The knife also comes with a certificate of authenticity and Kydex sheath.

To order, contact Chance via email here or visit www.facebook.com/pages/Oden-Gear.

Repetition

I get very excited when I learn something new or gain a new understanding of something I already know or even a new perspective. That happened to me again last week and here’s how it went down;
I’ve been working on my range a lot recently building some new bays and a new rifle range. One day last week I was using my tractor to move some dirt around and doing some pretty repetitive stuff, move forward get a scoop of dirt, back up with it and dump it into the dump truck then move forward again get a scoop of dirt, back up again repeat, repeat etc. I know you are thinking…what does this have to do with shooting? Bear with me! To shift my tractor from forward to reverse I have to use a lever on the left side of the steering column, push forward to go forward, pull back for reverse. After running the tractor for a few hours I got in my truck to leave, guess what I grabbed to try to make the truck into forward and reverse….the turn signal lever on the left side of the steering column, right where the tractor gear selector was! So we’ve all heard it said that it takes 10,000 repetitions to build a muscle memory. I’ve said in my classes that it may not take 10,000 reps but it takes more than 10 for sure. In this case after running the tractor for a while I had reprogrammed to use my left hand and a lever on the left side of the steering column to make the machine go forward and reverse. When I got into my truck I instinctively grabbed the lever on the left side of the steering column, because for the last few hours I had TRAINED myself to do it. We humans are amazingly adaptive machines and with the right kinds of repetition we can learn to do anything. When I was running the tractor I didn’t sit down on it and see how fast I could shift from forward or reverse or how fast I could run the loader on a pro timer. What I did was very deliberately operate the machine and by doing so and not over thinking it, I TRAINED my mind and body how to instinctively make the machine do what I wanted it to do subconsciously. This new perspective on something I already knew will be going with me to the range and I think it will help me create some better training tools to give the shooters who train with me. I dig it the most when a new thought or idea comes up that will help me be a better shooter and instructor!

And of course you can check out my website for more info on what I’m all about. Thanks y’all!
