Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation To Rebrand as ‘American Outdoor Brands Corp.’

Wednesday, December 14th, 2016

smith-and-wesson-logo_0

Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation shareholders have recently voted to change the company’s name to the exceedingly generic ‘American Outdoor Brands Corp.’ This new name change comes in response to SWHC’s increased efforts to diversify their offerings in the overarching outdoor industry, including their acquisition of companies such as Taylor Brands and UST Brands, companies which specialize in knives and tools and survival equipment, respectively. Unsurprisingly, Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation is not completely abandoning the Smith & Wesson brand, which will continue to operate as its firearms division, while the recently acquired Crimson Trace will form at least part of S&W’s electro-optics division.

The name change comes in to effect starting January 1st, 2017, just in time for SHOT Show.

Below is the official press release from Smith & Wesson announcing the change.

Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation Reports Stockholder Vote Results
Holding Corporation Will Become American Outdoor Brands Corporation

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Dec. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation (NASDAQ Global Select: SWHC), today announced that its stockholders have overwhelmingly approved a change to the holding company’s name from Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation to American Outdoor Brands Corporation. The name change does not impact Smith & Wesson Corp., the name of the company’s firearms division, which has legendary roots dating back to 1852 and will remain unchanged. The name change pertains only to the holding corporation that acquired Smith & Wesson in 2001 and now owns Smith & Wesson Corp., Battenfeld Technologies, Inc., and Crimson Trace Corporation, which represent the company’s firearms, manufacturing services, accessories, and electro-optics divisions.

James Debney, President and Chief Executive Officer of Smith & Wesson, said, “We are excited about the results of today’s stockholder vote. We believe that American Outdoor Brands Corporation is a name that truly represents our broad and growing array of brands and businesses in the shooting, hunting, and rugged outdoor enthusiast markets. Looking ahead, and operating as American Outdoor Brands Corporation, we intend to continue building upon our portfolio, focusing on brands and products that best meet the needs and lifestyle of our target consumers.”

The name change will be effective on or about January 1, 2017, at which time the company will adopt the common stock trading symbol “AOBC” for its NASDAQ stock exchange listing.

O.R.66 Jacket
Timeless Design, American Horween Horsehide, Made in the USA

Prometheus Design Werx introduces their O.R.66 Jacket. Expertly handmade in San Francisco, with American Horween Horsehide, this timeless everyday jacket style has been worn by rogues, scholars, pilots, motorcyclists, cops & robbers alike since the 1930s. Long before technical synthetics, leather and horsehide in particular, was the material of choice for rugged outerwear. Considered the most durable and desirable of all leather hides, the O.R.66 in horsehide is an acquisition that is intended to last your lifetime and passed down to your children. Designed and made in California, USA.

The O.R.66 Jacket is a part of their Made in USA CORE-Line of products by Prometheus Design Werx.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“Some of the PDW Team has been riding for over 30 years. We know very well the value of a leather jacket that you can rely on. Our objective here was to create that one goto leather jacket in your wardrobe.

The 1930s was the “Golden Age of Aviation”, the end of Prohibition, the era of Streamline Moderne, the Great Depression, Big Band and Jazz, the Yankees ruled baseball, and the beginning of WWII. There was value and common sense in well made, durable consumer products and goods. It was during this decade the “Half Belt” style leather jacket was born. A design that is sleek, minimalist and stripped of any superfluous ornament. To create the O.R.66 Jacket, we started with three authentic period examples of this style jacket from the 30s, 40s and 50s, and created our master pattern. Our select American Horween Horsehide is in a very special 2.75oz hide weight, and the tanning method chosen produces a jacket equally at home around town, on a motorcycle, or in a cockpit. The O.R.66 is superior in tensile strength, abrasion resistance, and durability to any cow and steer hide jackets in heavier weight classes. The O.R.66 will break in with use and display its characteristics as unique as the individual who wears it.

Without changing the defining design characteristics and silhouette, we updated this timeless style with a few subtle functional updates. Period USN G1 style wind flap and gusseted bi-swing back were added for those of us who ride, there are 2 leather lined interior Napoleon pockets taken from custom leather jackets made for Federal Agents that can withstand holding backup pieces, a zippered “hide-away” pocket in the back of the collar for a spare cuff key to bug out cash, and a rich, deep red nylon sateen lining popular with riding jackets from the days of Rockers and the legendary Ace Cafe.”

The PDW O.R.66 Jacket will be available on Wednesday, Dec 14, 2016 at 1:00pm PST via their website, prometheusdesignwerx.com.

TALON Grips Introduces Moss Colored Rubber Grips

Tuesday, December 13th, 2016

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colorado (November 14, 2016) – TALON Grips introduces Moss colored rubber grips to their industry leading line of adhesive backed firearm grips.

Moss is the first custom colored rubber grip added to the TALON Grips line. The new color enables TALON Grips users to customize the look of their firearms while improving their interface with the firearm for better performance.

All TALON Grips firearm specific grip designs will be available in Moss. The new product rollout will be graduated by brand to allow for production time. Initially the grips will be available directly from TALON Grips. Moss grips will be available to TALON Retailers beginning February 1, 2017.

The introduction of Moss is the result of customer demand. Flat Dark Earth (FDE) and Olive Drab (OD) are preferred colors in tactical and military circles which has driven demand in the private sector. With many manufacturers producing FDE and OD firearms, Moss is TALON Grips answer to the popularity of FDE.

“This is a project that has been in the works for several years, and we are excited to introduce Moss grips to our line. Our team did an unbelievable job stepping up to each challenge and exceeding every expectation. We believe the teamwork resulted in a product that lives up to our, and more importantly, our customers’ expectations, it is like nothing else on the market,” said Mike Morris, President of TALON Grips. He continued, “Sure, Moss TALON Grips looks great on FDE and OD firearms and it looks even better on black.”

moss-fde-and-black-g17s

TALON Grips received numerous samples of FDE, OD, Tan, and Grey from leading firearm manufacturers throughout the development of the new Moss color. TALON Grips Moss is not intended to match any particular manufacturer’s version of FDE. “Our goal was to create a color that would complement as many manufacturers’ color interpretations as possible. “We tested the color alongside most major manufacturers FDE and OD and believe customers will be as pleased with the color combinations as we are,” said Michael Morris.

With the introduction of the new color grips TALON Grips will be expanding its offerings from over 400 products to over 600 products.
