Blade Show 2017 – DPx Gear HEST/F Urban

Saturday, June 3rd, 2017

Although we have showed the HEST/F Urban in the past, this is the production model. In fact, it’s the first all titanium production run of their 100% U.S.A. sourced and manufactured folding knife. The DPx Gear HEST/F (Hostile Environment Survival Tool/Folding) Urban features a compact, under three-inch blade.

Features:

American 6Al4v Titanium Frame. A frame made of aerospace quality, American 6Al4v titanium alloy in a stonewashed finish.

CPM S35V Stainless Steel Blade. A U.S. made and formulated martensitic blade steel also in a stonewashed finish.

Bearing Pivot. Stainless steel caged bearing pivot hardware for rapid deployment and effortless opening and closing.

DPx Gear Patented Blade Notch. Designed to allow the knife to open faster than an automatic and to the rear of the holder, keeping it safe from the assailant. Naturally it was also designed to open beer bottles and function as a pot holder.

Integral ¼” Hex Drive. DPx believes if you are going to carry around a quality knife it better earn its keep. Pairing commonly used hex tools with our built in hex drive turns your DPx HEST/F Urban into a multi tool.

DPx Gear Patented Tri-Gauge Wire Strippers. Jimping that doubles as wire strippers in the exact size of household gauge, auto and even timer wires (for blasting or electronics).

Frame Lock. The US-invented frame lock for bulletproof lockup. First used in Chris Reeves’ famous Sebenza® knives it has become the standard locking feature for high-end custom knives. We added a stainless steel cap to reduce wear on the lock face.

Glass Breaker. The DPx HEST/F Urban has a tungsten carbide glass breaker. A potentially lifesaving tool in the event of an auto accident or fire.

Reversible, Deep Carry Pocket Clip. The deep carry clip ensures your knife rides as low and as unobtrusively as possible in your pocket. The clip is fully reversible to meet your carry needs.

Winkler Knives – Legacy Axe and Recon Knife

Thursday, June 16th, 2016

Winkler Knives unveiled two new products at the recent Blade Show designed with US Navy and Army Veteran Special Operator Kevin Holland. He is the guy who first came to Daniel Winkler to create a military axe so it’s great to see him lend his experience toward new designs.

This is the Legacy Axe which shares some lines from that first model that Kevin carried ino combat. One of the biggest changes is the swept back handle which doesn’t constantly catch on the leg as you walk.  You’ll also note that the top half of the handle is skeletonized and wrapped in 550 cord.  As with all Winkler Knives handle options include maple and rubber (chiseled is optional) but I’m sure you could get micarta if you asked.

Below, you can see the Recon Knife. Offered with or without teeth, it was designed specifically by Holland as a companion for the Legacy Axe.

Blade Show – Bastion

Wednesday, June 8th, 2016

Bastion introduced their new Partizan folder at Blade Show and since it was Blade Show they had quite a few different versions available for sale, all with the same slim, minimalist blade made from D2. In addition to the variations of Titanium slabs, there was also a version with Carbon Fiber scales seen at the bottom of this photo. It was like holding a feather.
