Combat Flip Flops Release Two New Styles

Combat Flip Flops is releasing two new styles for men and women. Both the LT-22 and RBR are Lowtops which will run $64.99 and $59.99 respectively. Both models will be available in both Black and White.

The LT-22s. Classic style, modern performance, required durability. With Nyco laces, blended synthetic uppers, EVA insoles, and stickyAF rubber, these lowtops are built to roll as hard as you do.

Let’s face it. If you’ve got miles on your frame, a good set of slip on shoes makes every step better. The 2022 Combat Flip Flops RNRs combine stickyAF rubber, stitched outsoles, and padded fit for those with experienced style and grit.

Stuff I Like – Black Diamond Session Approach Shoes

I pick on my wife telling her that she wears the adult equivalent of toddler clothes around the house, but truth be told I’m doing the same thing.

Since COVID hit I’ve taken to wearing an ersatz uniform around the house and on short errands consisting of Vuori climbing pants, an Arc’teryx T-shirt and Black Diamond Session Approach Shoes*. If it’s raining, or I’m going for a hike, I stick with the Salewa Alpine Trainer Low. It’s not that I’m bouldering anymore, it’s really about comfort.

So why would I wear approach shoes? A couple of reasons. Although the soles are in fact sticky and offer sure footedness, these are really casual shoes. Plus, thanks to the stretch-fit heel they are slip-ons. That is the biggest factor.

The EVA mod-sole makes them comfy and I like the rubber toe rand. I’m now on my third pair since I started wearing them, so expect about a year’s worth of wear.

Naglev – Vulcano

The Vulcano from Italian boot maker Naglev is described as a speed hiker, combing the stability of a hiking boot with the agility of a trail runner.

The secret is apparently the rather prominent single piece of wrap-around Kevlar, even around the outsole. It also features integrated cable lacing, a wicking Lycra liner, a midsole and footbed that molds to your foot over time for a custom fit, and a natural rubber compound outsole.

The Vulcano uses European sizing and is available exclusively from Huckberry.

ORSM 22 – Adidas Five Ten

I have been a huge fan of Five Ten for years. It’s good to see that the brand is still alive under Adidas but I wish they’d go back to their roots and create some more outdoor styles beyond the biking styles they currently make.

However, some of these shoes can be used for other applications than intended like the Trailcross Mid Pro.

This non-waterproof, mid height boot can be used for maritime ops and incorporates D3O at the ankle to mitigate injuries.

Best of all, and features Five Ten’s famous stealth rubber sole compound?. Sticky, it will ensure you are surefooted on wet terrain.

ORSM 22 – BrandBlack

We’ve featured Brandblack’s Milspec models in the past.

They’ve updated the model for 2023 with Cordura uppers and a waterproof breathable lining as well as the new EVO sole which is not only wider for better stability but also incorporates 3mm of foam for comfort.

They’ve also added an Olive color way which is reminiscent of the classic jungle boot.
