Monday, May 8th, 2017Uniqlo is a Japanese active wear brand known for their inexpensive wares. Recently, I found out they were recreating the Cotton OG-107 Fatigue Jacket which may well be the most iconic variant of the green fatigues-era of our armed forces. The Shirt has the classic lines and even feels like it’s been washed quite a bit, just like you’d find in a 1970s surplus store.
In addition to OD, they also offer Khaki and Black. They’ve even included color appropriate buttons for those variants.
Currently in clearance, get yours before they’re gone. One note, unlike Issue uniforms, they are Small-3XL. Also, go up a size for these.

Stuff I Like – Patagonia Men’s R1 Fleece Hoody
Monday, May 1st, 2017I’ve always liked the Patagonia R1 Fleece, going back to when it was a part of the Military Advanced Regulator System (MARS) military clothing system. I don’t recall owning any before that but several years ago, I purchased my first R1 Fleece Hoody in Black. The Polartec Power Grid is comfy, and it makes a nice layering piece. Although, it’s considered a slim fit, it has a bit of stretch to it. In addition to the hood, there’s a single, zippered chest pocket, deep front zipper for ventilation and thumb cuffs for keeping your hands warm. Finally, the fabric offers Polygiene permanent odor control.
This Spring, I was shopping at an REI when I saw the Hoody in the Buffalo Green color, so I purchased a new one. The R1 Fleece Hoody is a design that is reintroduced, season after season, but in new colors, so you have to keep an eye out. As we near the end of the season, you may start to see these on sale.

Magpul Launches AKA KOA Apparel Line
Wednesday, April 26th, 2017To give back to the Recon community in an homage to Magpul’s history, we designed the AKA KOA line of apparel. AKA KOA is the nickname given to Alpha Company 3rd Recon Bn (USMC Hawaii) by its Commanding Officer, Kent Bradford, in the late 1980s. Loosely translated, it means “Shadow Warrior” in Hawaiian. While it was intended to symbolize the military capability of the unit, it fast became the call sign for Alpha Company’s other skill set, making the most of the Hawaiian island lifestyle during the off hours.
