Trayvax Offers Limited Edition Metal Wallet In FDE Color Pattern

Trayvax is pleased to announce limited availability of the Axis bi-fold metal wallet in an FDE color pattern. Trayvax only produced 100 units of this limited edition color run.

FDE is a popular earth tone, similar to the US Army’s “sand” color. It matches the tan, sandy-colors of modern U.S. military camo patterns.

“Our customers are constantly asking for specific color patterns,” said Gerald Craft, marketing and communications manager. “We’ve been tallying the votes and FDE came in with the most requests. We only made 100, and when they’re out, they’re out, so get ‘em while they’re hot.”

Trayvax will introduce special-edition, limited-production runs every three months based on customer feedback. The company will only produce 100 units of these specialized colors and there’s no guarantee they will be offered again. The Leatherman Tread is a 25-piece bracelet-style multitool. In addition to a stand-alone model, Leatherman also released a version called the Tread QM1, which features a Swiss timepiece. Best Tech Tool decided to expand upon this concept by releasing the BTT Adapter, which allows users to connect virtually any timepiece to the Leatherman Tread. Best Tech Tool created an adapter for standard timepieces, along with one for G-Shock watches, and one for the Apple Watch.

Covert Operations Gear – Low-Profile EDC Bag

Covert Operations Gear (COG) Low-Profile EDC Bag is an ambidextrous modular carry system that includes two swappable velcro hook-backed EDC platforms/panels that can be mounted to the bag’s main body. The sling can be worn slung over either shoulder. Bartacked color-matching PALS webbing runs the length of the sling’s shoulder, allowing users to weave in comms wires, battery pack cables, etc. The sling also includes a double-flap pocket made from stitch-weave twill fabric that will accommodate most smart phones and tourniquets.

The bag’s main body has a flap with a hidden exterior zippered compartment. One cool feature of the the Low-Profile EDC bag are the two magnetic Fidlock buckles on the main body’s flap which snap together as soon as the two halves are in close proximity.

• The EDC Pocket Platform has several open-top compartments in various widths to accommodate small items such as pens, knives, flashlights, notepads, multi-tools, and medical/IFAK items. This pocket platform also has two (2) zippered compartments, the smaller of which includes an HK style sling snap hook for attaching keys and/or electronic key FOBs. The larger zipper compartment is lined with soft foam material and is designed to accommodate many popular tablets. An iPad mini will fit in the pocket and can be zipped closed; a full-size iPad will fit, however the zipper must remain open.

• The EDC Weapon Platform is velcro loop lined and is sized to accommodate a variety of handguns, from sub-compacts to full-sized handguns, with or without a weapon light. The EDC Weapon Platform is ambidextrous, with left and right-hand-zippered openings, allowing compartment access from either side, and is lined with velcro loop for the user to mount an appropriate velcro hook-backed holster. Proven Leather and Kydex holsters are generally compatible. The user may install a strip of adhesive backed velcro hook (not included) onto one side of the holster and affix the holster inside the weapon compartment. The Weapon Platform also features its own exterior-zippered pocket and a row of MOLLE to attach miscellaneous gear or a tourniquet.

Gerber Center Drive

This is the Gerber Center Drive, a brand-new made-in-the-USA multitool that’s launching today, and Gerber sent us a pre-production model a few days ahead of the launch to check it out.

The Center Drive is manufactured from stainless steel, and features 14 individual tools within its frame.

The pliers are spring loaded, and are released upward via a side-mounted sliding button, purposely designed for one-thumb activation, rather than the swing open design on traditional multitools.

The pliers consist of a needle nose point with a standard center, as well as rotatable carbide wire cutters and a wire stripper.

The main blade on the Center Drive is a 3.25″ fine edge blade. According to Gerber, this blade is “30% larger than the competition”; press materials use the main blade on the Leatherman OHT for the size comparison. The blade also locks into place when fully extended via a tension lockbar.

The opposite arm of the Center Drive features the following tools:

Pry bar

Nail puller

Bottle opener

Serrated Blade

Awl

Fine & course sided file

These tools lock into place when fully extended and can be retracted by using a thumb-break slide release on the opposite side of the arm, which also incorporates a lanyard hole. The arm opposite this one features both a 3″ ruler as well as an 8cm ruler.

Easily the most impressive feature of the Center Drive is the tool of its namesake, the full-size center axis driver. Unlike traditional multitools, which typically feature a lower profile driver, the Center Drive’s driver juts out of the tool’s frame 3.25″ and curves inward towards the center axis, allowing for improved torque and rotation. The center axis driver features a magnetic attachment head, which supports any number of standard bits. Like the blade, the center axis driver locks into place via a tension lockbar.

The Center Drive also features this bit storage slot which snaps into place within the frame and rotates outward, allowing quick access to a second bit. By default, it comes with a flat head bit already inserted.

The Center Drive comes with a 12-bit kit, in addition to the Phillip’s head and flat head bits that are already included with the tool. It also comes complete with a nylon and elastic sheath which accommodates both the Center Drive and the bit set. The sheath can be mounted by the rear to a belt either vertically or horizontally via its rear straps.

By Gerber’s own admission, unlike the Center Drive itself, both the bit set and pouch are made in China. Regardless, the tool itself is USA-made, and it has a host of great features that should make for an excellent option for EDC or just a functional backup tool.

GRIPsher – The Formidable Compact Multi-Tool On Kickstarter

The GRIPsher is a compact multitool “dreamt up by an Army Veteran, refined by an MIT engineer, and brought to life with common sense”. The creators of GRIPsher have designed the tool with a variety of functions, including, but not limited to:

Perhaps the most interesting feature of the GRIPsher is the glow-in-the-dark jaws on the bottom of the tool. Dubbed the HEXGRIP system, the jaws serve as a fully adjustable way to secure hex nuts, bolts, and bits.

Additionally, the GRIPsher team is hosting a special program called Tools For Troops. For every GRIPsher black model supported, a version of the GRIPsher with black HEXGRIP jaws will be donated to a military service member; this is the only way to get a GRIPsher with black jaws.

THIK – EvadeClip Available For Pre-Order

The folks over at Tiny Inconspicuous Handcuff Key have developed what they call the EvadeClip, intended as an all-in-one solution for escape, evasion, and survival in an urban environment. The EvadeClip features an integrated clip for attachment to one’s person, and consists of a stainless steel mini saw, carbide grit rod saw, and stainless steel 3-piece lock pick set.
