Team GLOCK’s K.C. Eusebio Wins at Speed on Steel Match

Thursday, June 7th, 2012

Team GLOCK’s newest member K.C. Eusebio excelled against impressive competitors in his first Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA) match of the 2012 season. According to a GLOCK press release, Eusebio earned top honors using a SJC Customs GLOCK G17 Open pistol in the tightly contested Open Division of the 10th Annual World Class Steel “Speed on Steel” match held at the Old Bridge Rifle and Pistol Club in Old Bridge, NJ on June 1, 2012.

“The match meant a lot to me knowing several of my most fierce competitors were aiming for first place,” said Eusebio. “I had a rough start but held my composure to ensure my first steel challenge victory with my Open GLOCK.”

The competition included seven stages over the weekend event. Eusebio took High Overall and first in Open Centerfire Pistol with a time of 69.66.

Well K.C. Eusebio might be out there kicking ass for Team GLOCK but they still haven’t updated their website acknowledging that he’s a team member. In fact, they’ve still got Randi Rogers listed as a team member and she left in early March.

Please remember, you can purchase a 2012 calendar, posters and cards at www.hotshotscalendar.com. 50% of the proceeds are donated to the UK based Help for Heroes.

NDIA Presents Ambrose Award to Winchester

Tuesday, June 5th, 2012

Named in honor of former Under Secretary of the Army, James R. Ambrose, for his recognition of the valuable contributions made to national defense by industrial companies, NDIA presents the Ambrose Award periodically when a manufacturer delivers superior products that meet required operational capabilities and support a high level of force readiness in the conduct of warfighting activities or homeland defense.

“The Ambrose Award is not an annual award, rather it is an award presented only when an extraordinary circumstance prevails,” said Steve Faintich, NDIA Small Arms Executive Board secretary. “Winchester was specifically cited by both the NDIA Board and the U.S. Department of Defense for demonstrating its unique responsiveness and capability in meeting a need or adding capability to U.S. and/or Allied national security.”

“At Winchester Ammunition, we take great pride in the products we provide the United States Armed Forces and we’re honored to receive this award,” said Tom O’Keefe, Winchester Ammunition president. “We have a long and storied history of supporting our military and will continue to manufacture high quality ammunition that our troops can count on.”

Criteria used to determine recipients of the Ambrose Award include:
– A track record of continual demonstration of emerging technologies
– The development of products and systems
– The establishment of enhanced production capabilities
– The integration of innovative weapons systems and supporting products and services required by the U.S. Department of Defense and Allied countries

Military Combat Eye Protection Industry Day

Sunday, June 3rd, 2012

Product Manager Soldier Protective Equipment (PM SPE) is hosting an Industry Day for the Military Combat Eye Protection (MCEP) Qualified Products List (QPL) effort. The MCEP QPL Industry Day will be held on Wednesday, 27 June 2012, in the Belvoir Room at the Fort Belvoir Officers’ Club, 5500 Schultz Circle #20, Fort Belvoir, VA 22060-6102, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST.

Interested vendors must RSVP by 4:00 p.m. EST on 20 June 2012 and provide the name(s) of those attending on their behalf. Attendees must be U.S. citizens. Due to limited space, attendance will be limited to manufacturers of protective eyewear and a maximum of three (3) attendees per company. Reservations are available on a first-come, first-served basis or until capacity has been met.

One challenge to industry for this new program is that vendors must adapt their products to interface with the Universal Prescription Lens Carrier (UPLC), NSN 6540-01-600-6532. This is a GOTS product and some eyepro geometries may not accommodate this item.

The current Army Protective Eyewear List has been fraught with controversy. The process has been haphazard and when lots of product from individual vendors fails testing, the Army has been reticent to disseminate the information. Hopefully, the Army will adopt a more streamlined, and transparent process.

Brand New: An Exploratory Study Into The Role Of Branding On Military Clothing Acceptability

Sunday, June 3rd, 2012

Way back in 2000 the Army and Marine Corps knew that the troops preferred commercial products. In this study conducted in 1997 they went so far as to develop a ‘Government Brand.’ Many items used by both the Army and SOCOM are commercial items but we are seeing the Marine Corps revert back to Government owned designs built by the lowest bidder. Take a look at this report. It’s an interesting read.
