Prometheus Design Werx Announces The Invictus MIL-LE Edition

At the start of this 2015 Winter Season, San Francisco based specialty outdoor products company Prometheus Design Werx debuts their Invictus MILLE Edition coil sprung folding knife. Designed and produced for the (MILLE) Military and Law Enforcement user in mind, this folder’s blade is quickly deployed with only one hand via a GID inlaid push button and backed by a sliding safety to prevent accidental activation. This uncompromising build features a convex and fully contoured type III hard anodized, aerospace grade T6061 alloy handle precision milled on a multiaxis CNC, subdued deep ride pocket clip, handle fullers & jimping, grooved thumbramp, lanyard slots, and a high grade industrial tumbled finish on an all purpose 3.5” modified spear point 154CM blade. Produced entirely in the USA.

The Invictus MIL-LE Edition is the first production iteration of this signature, purpose driven, folding knife design from Prometheus Design Werx. The 1st production run is limited to 100 serial numbered pieces.

The SHIV

This training Shiv is a great idea from Brainstorm CanAm. It gives positive feedback to students from an all-top-common threat to Law Enforcement and Corrections Officers.

A graduated pressure spring embedded into the handle allows the rubber “blade” to retract upon impact then instantly return to the ready position. A soft tip, with marker, will illustrate your hits during realistic training. It is the rare event that the defender is not cut or stabbed in a knife attack. The SHIV allows you to practice real life techniques and preserve a margin of safety in you scenarios. After attack first aid and real world discussion of the “injuries” adds realism to your classes.

I got a chance to check these knives and lights out during a recent media event in Phoenix. I really like the knives and they will be popular thanks to their features and price.

I didn’t get much time with the lights. It was broad daylight and we had lots to go over.

Their latest “Thanks-for-Giving” event was a huge success as multiple families in need were given a proper Thanksgiving dinner. Members of First Tactical, StanCoPal, Modesto P.D. and The Salvation Army fed nearly 800 dinners to people in need.

Here’s another great Christmas gift idea. The Gerber Freescape Camp Saw accepts standard 12″ saw blades and folds flat for storage. Unlike many folding saws, the Fresscape utilizes 4 pivot points to effectively cut larger diameter wood while using the full length of the blade. When folded up, the blade is protected and can be stowed safely in a gear kit or camp bin. The bright green color makes it easy to find and the rubber handle is for a positive grip.

FirstEdge Knives – 5050 Fixed Blade Survival Knife

FirstEdge is a newcomer in the knife industry, started by CEO Brett Seber, who has spent 30 years as a senior executive in the knife and tool industry as well as personally having several knife and tool patents. The above knife is the 5050 Fixed Blade Survival Knife. The 5050 Survival Knife was designed and built in partnership with US Special Forces. It features a full tang fixed blade with a length of 5.125″ and a 60-61 HRC, made of ELMAX stainless steel. ELMAX is an extremely durable and wear-resistant steel produced by Bohler-Uddenholm of Sweden. According to once source, a Gunner at NSW was able to cut down a tree using the 5050 Survival Knife without losing any blade sharpness.

Additionally, the 5050 Survival Knife has coarse textured black G-10 handles, a striking pommel, and a lanyard hole. The 5050 Survival Knife also comes with a tri-composite sheath, which is composed of KYDEX with hardened stainless steel liners. These sheaths are designed to be disassembled, be cleaned, and reassembled within minutes, and are designed to withstand harsh conditions, including Arctic conditions.
