SureFire Stiletto and Stiletto Pro – Side by Side

Wednesday, November 20th, 2019

Now that the Stiletto Pro is out, I thought it would be a good idea to show you the two models side-by-side. First off, the PRO model features an anodized aluminum body rather than the polymer body of the Stiletto.

This is a SureFire product so naturally, they pumped up the volume on output. They’ve integrated a new proprietary MaxVision Beam reflector for 1,000 lumens in high-output mode. According to SureFire, this increased output combined with the new reflector results in a 233% increase in candela over the initial model, which equates to an 82% increase in distance performance. The Stiletto Pro also offers the added versatility of a 300-lumen medium output and a 25-lumen low output.

The Stiletto Pro doesn’t just improve the amount of light it throws, there are a few other enhancements as well. For example, the activation button is recessed on the PRO model.

Additionally, you can swap the carry clip for bezel-up or bezel-down carry.

I already love the Stiletto. I’m looking forward to the Stiletto Pro.

Sneak Peek – New Light From Inforce

Monday, November 18th, 2019

First off, Inforce is moving back to aluminum for all of their lights. For about a decade, they had gone to polymer, but starting with these two new weapon lights, the 9ZERO and FOURTY5, the bodies will be manufactured from aluminum. Specifically, they are 6061 aluminum Type III hard coat anodized.

The construction of the two lights is similar with the 9ZERO a 90 deg offset and the FOURTY5 a 45 deg offset.

Additionally, they feature an Aluminum cased activation button as well as a magnetic tape switch.

Relying on a 18650 or 123A battery, the light will offer 1200 lumens for up to 90 minutes. Final specs will probably be higher, but that’s where they have measured so far.

The 9ZERO will begin shipping in January and will run $219 with the FOURTY5 later in the Spring at $239.

Dallas SWAT Selects LWRCI IC-A5 Surefire, Aimpoint, B.E. Meyers For Their New Rifle System

Saturday, November 9th, 2019

Elite Tactical Unit fields first completely new weapons and components upgrade in departments’ history.

Cambridge, MD (November 8, 2019) –  LWRC International, the leader in piston driven carbines and rifles, is honored to have been chosen, and fielded as the duty carbine for the Dallas, Texas SWAT Team.

In an official statement released today- ” The Dallas Texas Police Department SWAT team has selected and fielded the LWRCI IC-A5 carbine. The entire carbine setup was the first time in the departments history to obtain factory new weapon and components, identified, tested and selected by its team members, and delivered as a complete kit.”

Dallas SWAT Team members conducted long and rigorous testing on each component from several companies over a nearly 2 year review process. At the end of that process they chose the LWRCI IC-A5 Individual Carbine in a 10.5″ barrel configuration as its issued carbine for their elite tactical unit.

The IC-A5 is built on the patented LWRCI short-stroke gas piston system that offers unparalleled reliability and easy maintenance. Dual Control fully ambidextrous lower receiver includes bolt catch and release, magazine release and fire control access from both sides of the IC-A5 make it a versatile option for any operator. A low profile 2 position adjustable gas block allows the operator to compensate for running a suppressor.

Key accessory components were also included in the testing process. Dallas SWAT chose the Aimpoint CompM5 red dot as their primary sighting system, a Surefire SOCOM Mini II suppressor, the Surefire M622 Ultra SCOUT Light and the MAWL-DA visible / IR laser aiming and illumination device from B.E. Meyers to complete the package.

The team members who tested and chose the system issued this statement to those who made this possible.  “Thank you to the citizens of Dallas who donated the funds to the Team foundation that ultimately paid for the purchase. This outstanding rifle package was entirely privately-funded and donated to our Dallas SWAT officers. We cannot thank those outstanding civic leaders and their associations enough for their enthusiasm to support us and make this rifle a possibility.”

“At this time, we are going leave these special donors remain anonymous, but you know who you are.” They also wished to express their gratitude to the Fort Worth SWAT team who had suggested the LWRCI rifle and components that they had tested and selected two years prior. Thanks as well to DSG Arms, an Authorized LWRCI Law Enforcement Distributor who won the procurement contract and managed the logistics to assemble the kit as delivered.”

Upon receipt of the carbines, Dallas SWAT went through several weeks of new equipment familiarization and training, contracted and provided by Victory First and the manufacturers to increase proficiency with the new technology and benefits of the components. After several long training cycles and qualifications, Dallas SWAT began their operational deployments with new equipment.

AUSA 19 – LMD Pistol Enhancer For Glock

Thursday, October 17th, 2019

LaserMaxDefense manufactures the Pistol Aiming Laser (PAiL) for the US Army’s Modular Handgun System.

The switches are designed to be operated while wearing gloves and both the white light and IR illuminator (while using gen III Night Vision Devices) are designed to provide positive weapons ID at 40m.

Capabilities:

WHITE LIGHT: 175 lumens (typical) of white light
IR ILLUMINATOR: 175 mW (typical) of 850nm illumination
IR LASER: 850nm 0.7 mW max (class1) eye safe aiming laser

Length: < 2.8″
Height: < 1.4″ (not below trigger guard)
Width: < 1.5″
Weight: 2.6 ounces with battery

The Pistol Enhancer offers two hours of continuous use with a single CR-123 battery, which can be changed without removing the device from the weapon.

LMD took a look at the market and decided to create a version for use with the Glock. Because the trigger guard of the MHS is so large, they had to make a new version, with a different housing. Functionality of this prototype is the same as the original model, but experimentation has shown that it will fit a wider variety of pistols.

It can be used to light up a tent, or boat by placing it inside the included storage bag and has a specially developed light which creates a wide beam which also produces a long beam ahead of you.  In addition it is compatible with MOLLE and can be clipped to any equipment using this system.

TNVC New Product TAPS SYNC and TAPS Standard In-Stock

Wednesday, October 9th, 2019

Tactical Night Vision Company, Redlands, CA –

TNVC and Unity Tactical are very happy to announce the launch of TAPS SYNC, as well as the newly upgraded TAPS Standard! TAPS Standard now in-stock and available for order! TAPS SYNC is currently in stock and shipping to dealers.

For years the industry has struggled with standard pressure switches functionality and modularity. The TAPS and TAPS SYNC have changed the way end-users think of remote device switches. Previously, end-users had to struggle to attach and maintain delicate and finicky pressure switches to their weapons that were poorly designed to be attached to the weapon where the user needed them to activate their devices. The original TAPS broke through these long standing barriers with a user-centric paradigm shift to create a modular and ergonomic remote switch system; a complete one point command and control system for all weapon-mounted force multipliers such as white lights and IR aiming lasers and illuminators.

The TAPS SYNC has added new functionality to the TAPS design, adding one of the most-requested features to the TAPS–simultaneous device activation, allowing both the light and laser to be activated by a patented single button (the other button will still activate one device separately).

The TAPS SYNC comes in 4 variants for customers to choose which configuration best suits their chosen light/laser combo, and comes with one 9” Crane-style lead for devices using the Crane connector (L3Harris ATPIAL, B. E. Meyers MAWL, Steiner DBAL, etc.) and one 9” Surefire-style lead for Surefire weaponlights.

TAPS SYNC also introduces numerous other small improvements and upgrades that have also been integrated into the TAPS Standard as well, including a new and improved Crane-style connector which features a more universally accepted stem that more solidly seats in ports from L3Harris (Insight/EOTech), Steiner, B.E. Meyers, and Wilcox. The outer portion of the connector also features a recess that increases purchase with fingers during removal.

The Surefire style connector has also been improved, with an angled plug that pushes the cable back towards the weapon.  This decreases the overall “footprint” of cable/connector on the back of the light, reducing snag hazards.

The new 9” leads on both the TAPS Standard and TAPS SYNC allow more flexibility for end-users to place the remote switch in their desired location, accommodating a wider range of devices and mounts (Streamlight leads will remain at 7”).

Finally, new hardware interfaces decrease the amount of hardware required for mounting the TAPS and TAPS SYNC to Picatinny rails by removing the threaded sockets previously required for rail-mounted configurations, while the polymer back-plate is now recessed for M-LOK fasteners.

Lifetime warranty.
