TYR Tactical Tuesday – PICO-DS Assaulters Chest Rack

The TYR Tactical® PICO-DS Assaulters Chest Rack (TYR-DSCR005) provides true “Mission Adaptability” for the end user. It was designed to be worn as a stand-alone rack or it can be attached to the PICO-DS Assaulters Plate Carrier via the Quick Attach Surface Mount (QASM) buckle system. Each rack comes standard with a removable H-Harness. Additionally, a removable antimicrobial/FR treated spacer mesh pad is used internally for comfort and decreased dry time in arid/tropical conditions.

It’s engineered utilizing our revolutionary patented PV® material which offers significant weight reduction with increased resistance to abrasion. Patented PV® has been tested to have 7-10 times higher abrasion resistance than standard mil spec nylon. Patented PV® also enhances the ballistic attributes of armor within the vest. Antimicrobial/FR treated padded spacer mesh is used internally for comfort.

• Four M4/M16 Mag Pouches which are secured internally with a rubberized contact-grip material when retention bungees are not in use.

TYR Tactical Tuesday – Combat Adjustable Double Rifle Mag Pouch

The Patented TYR Tactical® Combat Adjustable Double Rifle Mag Pouch holds two mags and is designed to conform to both the 5.56 and 7.62 magazines. Engineered with an extremely clean and simple tension adjustment at the bottom, you can change its capabilities in seconds without having to remove the pouch itself. Warrior East 2017 – Kelty Small Rolling Trunk

Making its debut at Warrior East is the Small Rolling Trunk from Kelty. It’s about half the size of its big brother at ~5,000 cu in. Made from 1000D Cordura, it features haul handles and four external pockets.

Additionally, it is Berry Compliant. But the big story here is the metal frame.

I’ll categorize it as virtually indestructible. I say virtually because if you challenge Joe with a claim of indestructible, he’ll do anything to prove it wrong, even to the point of wrecking his own equipment.

Unfortunately, that beefy frame is going to have some heft to it, but I don’t have a weight for it yet. Coming very soon, from www.kelty.com/military.

Warrior East 2017 – Petzl Caritool & Caritool Evo

Petzl’s Caritool (left) was originally designed as an Ice Screw Holder. The carabiner design attaches to a climbing harness (or other belt) and has an integrated clip to held it in place. It can be used to attach a variety of gear, including ear pro on a gun belt.

The newer Caritool Evo (right) has an even deeper basket and a different, rear mounted, tension attachment system so it can be used with wider belts.

Neither are designed as personal protective equipment.

Warrior East 2017 – Eagle Industries ULV Tactical

This is the Ultra Lightweight Vest – Tactical which is an evolutionary development of the US Army’s ULV.

Eagle added an adjustable cummerbund which is reinforced with laminate, laser cut with the same design as the shoulder straps. There’s also an optional elastic strap for times when you don’t need a full cummerbund. Additionally, the interior of the vest is made from 4-way stretch Tweave material and the shoulder straps are padded with Tweave. There are four sizes for the ULV Tactical but thanks to the Tweave, the panels will accommodate a variety of plates thicknesses. At the rear are #5 zips which will accept Eagle back panels. You’ll also notice a drag handle.

Another change from the baseline model is that the ULV Tactical will accept the removable front flaps from the Aero.

As a complimentary piece, Eagle introduced a Ultra Lightweight Chest Rig which is made from laminate and weighs 11 oz. Without the shoulder straps it’s just 7 oz. It also accepts the Aero’s front flaps.
