Haley Strategic – MP2 Magazine Pouch Insert

Friday, May 29th, 2015

bg_final

The HSP MP2 is an injection molded insert which adds retention capability to any open top nylon pockets, foregoing the need for bungie cord or a top flap.

MP2

The click-in design allows users to insert magazines bullets front or bullets back, which allows for a smooth draw without impacting the ability to quickly retain partial magazines, in the case of a tactical reload. The MP2 is compatible with magazines of various calibers, including 5.56, 7.62x39mm, 5.45, and .308. Additionally, the MP2 allows for users to store 5.56 magazines in .308-sized pockets.

b2_compatibility

The MP2 was build specifically for the D3CR and D3CR-H, however it will also work with nylon magazine carriers from a variety of manufacturers, including Mayflower Research & Consulting, Velocity Systems, LBT, FirstSpear, and more. Designed and manufactured in the USA, MP2 inserts are available now, exclusively in Disruptive Grey.

S.O.Tech – Speed Clip Line

Wednesday, May 27th, 2015

Earlier this week we posted a story that challenged industry to offer new police equipment. S.O.Tech has been working on some things so we thought we’d share.
Speed-Clip

S.O.Tech’s Taser holster Speed Clip System is part of a shift in the law enforcement paradigm. We are witnessing the proliferation of less lethal Taser systems in law enforcement and a shift in public perceptions. When LAPD originally queried SOTech to design an upgraded version of its venerable Taser holster design, the discussion was for a few hundred holsters. After a year, this expanded to an order of 2,330 holsters as part of a contract extendable to 5 years and covering sales to LA Sheriffs Department too. We believe that we are witnessing a paradigm shift from a public expectation that police officers would have a badge and a gun. The new paradigm will be a badge, a gun and a Taser device. S.O.Tech recently delivered 800 Taser holsters to LASD. Be on the lookout for new Taser carriage designs from S.O.Tech in coming months!

Also a sign of the times, S.O.Tech designed the pouches in the Speed Clip line to have a military-inspired functionality but a law enforcement professional appearance. Flaps have minimal external stitch work and foam lining for a clean appearance in addition to a highly modular mounting system that quickly attaches to the belt, thigh or MOLLE vest is a matter of seconds. The unique design incorporates S.O.Tech’s patented ambidextrous flapped design that promotes weapon retention and prevents mistaken weapon identity.

The video announces the three stages of S.O.Tech’s modular law enforcement system: the fixed gun belt, Speed Clip line, and Suit Up line of civil disobedience and assault vest gear. S.O.Tech has been developing this systematic approach since the company’s beginnings in 1997 when LAPD and LASD officers and deputies presented the need for modular response systems.

Carryology – First Look :: AustriAlpin COBRA Sport Buckle

AstriAlpin

Carryology recently published a first look article on AustriAlpin’s new COBRA Sport Buckle. Made of 7075 aluminum and brass, the Sport Buckle is designed as a lower cost option for use with clothing, sports equipment, backpacks, etc., when the higher-cost, load bearing standard COBRA buckle would be overkill.

SOFIC 2015 – Blue Force Gear

Tuesday, May 19th, 2015

While located at an offsite location, Blue Force Gear is very much here at this year’s SOFIC. They debuted their “wall of gear” and a couple of things caught my eye.

First off is the Triple M4 Mag Now! Pouch hitting the site for sale within the week.
Next is the Water Bottle Pouch that is currently available for agency purchase.  It holds both 1 Qt canteen and Nalgene bottle.

Seen here are MultiCam Tropic and Arid examples.  The matching trims and pulls aren’t in yet so these protos use standard MultiCam.

Like all BFG products these are Made in USA and incorporate MOLLEminus features as well as Helium Whisper technology.

History Of The MOLLE Canteen Cover

Friday, May 8th, 2015

Here’s a brief post on the history and function of the Pouch, Canteen-General Purpose AKA the MOLLE Canteen Cover.

MOLLE Canteen carrier

The MOLLE Canteen Cover was originally intended to be used on the RACK system (Ranger Assault Carrying kit), which was a chest rig effort started by 2/75th Ranger BN in 1997. The canteen carrier was intended to be used to carry a canteen or any other equipment, including NVG’s, ammunition, etc. the Ranger may require on his fighting load. The Carrier was added to the MOLLE program in the late 1990’s, using the nomenclature ‘Pouch, Canteen-General Purpose’. Two each are issued in the standard MOLLE rifleman kit.

Canteen Carrier 2

The pouch features two outside pockets designed around the standard First Aid Field Dressing. The main pouch will support up to 5 Standard GI aluminum M-16/M4 magazines. When used as a canteen carrier, the top flap should be tucked inside the main compartment, and the draw string should be secured around the top of the canteen with enough tension to reduce debris entering the pouch, but not too tight to make it difficult to remove or secure the canteen. The carrier will support the canteen cup. There is also a padded liner (NSN is 8465-01-538-2043) which can be inserted into the carrier, which will protect sensitive items (primarily NVG’s).
