Adams Industries Update

Tuesday, June 9th, 2015

We received this update from Adams Industries.

1. 3D Filter Sets: This product is in production and we have delivered over a hundred sets to government end users. They love it. If you have a binocular goggle that accepts PVS-14 style screw-in filters then you can order this product TODAY. Price is $195 per set. We are working on other variants like the PVS-31 and expect to be done with that soon.

2. Color Night Vision (CNVG). OK, so it was color, then it was HD because we tried to make a filter set that would work but everybody said it sucked out too much light and now we have an agreement in place to get the special color tubes we need and the first production tubes will be delivered on the 15th of this month; which means the first CNVG goggles will roll out by the end of the month. We already have military customers lined up. I have attached pictures (seen above). Yes, I know that the bushes are red. Anything that reflects IR heavily including many bushes will show up red. So you’ll be aware of that for the first five minutes, and then you’ll be so happy with the contrast it gives you that it won’t cross your mind again. So, to answer the question everybody is going to ask: Yes. American Citizens residing inside the USA can buy CNVG goggles. They are $16,000; they come in a SENTINEL dual gain control form factor, and delivery is 45 days ARO unless you happen to hit us on a day when we have just received a shipment of tubes and they’re not all spoken for (don’t hold your breath, seriously).

3. SENTINEL SALE. Yep, a sale. Why? Well you try developing color night vision out of your own pocket! Time to generate some cash flow baby. We are offering SENTINEL YG goggles (ITT/EXELIS OMNI VIII MIL SPEC TUBES) $6,750 per unit until the end of this coming week (that’s Friday the 12th for those of you who need to mark your calendar). After that right back to $7,950.

4. LEGIONNAIRE SALE. This one is for LEGIONNAIRE clip-on with L3 OMNI VIII tube. $4,000 until the end of the week. After that back to $4,500.

Nikon has just introduced the new P-308 4-12×40 BDC 800 rifle scope. It features a 4-12 magnification, a 40mm objective, fully multicoated lenses, and the BDC 800 reticle; the BDC 800 reticle was engineered for a .308 win/7.62x51mm NATO round with a 168-grain HBT Match bullet at 2680 fps.

The P-308 also features spring-loaded, Instant Zero-Reset Turrets with easy-grip course knurling, making in-field adjustments easier by allowing shooters to reset their turrets back to zero after sighting-in. The P-308 is also waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof.

The P-308 is also optimized for use with Spot On Ballistic Match Technology. The Spot On program provides users with the exact aiming points on any BDC reticle for any load or ammunition at a specific range. Spot On is free online at nikonsportoptics.com/SpotOn, but is also available for mobile devices and can be purchased for iOS and Android.

SOFIC 2015 – Optics 1

Thursday, May 21st, 2015

Optics 1 has a rich history in military optics components development going back to 1987. More recently, they’ve become well known in certain circles for full optics system development and manufacturing. At SOFIC they showed me several new products.

The first is the Enhanced Clip On Thermal Imager which interfaces with any standard I2 optic. It offers improved image quality (640 x 480 @ 17 micron), integrated navigation software including route planning and execution (via Google Earth) and a winter battery pack which also incorporates a GPS receiver to power the navigation component. This battery pack will power BNVD or GPNVG long with the ECOTI.

Next is the Compact Ultralight Gunmounted Rangefinder. It’s the smallest rail mounted laser rangefinder available and offers accurate ranging out to 1500m for a man-sized target.  In addition to the phenomenal performance offered by the Vectronix 3013 module, they have developed an excellent user interface. Additionally, it interfaces with a new family of clip-on displays currently under development.

Warrior Expo – Aimpoint

Thursday, April 30th, 2015

The FCS 12 Fire Control System was developed about 13 years ago for use with the Carl Gustav 84mm but it’s starting to gain some steam for use with additional weapon systems such as the Mk 19.  This flexibility means you can have one sight solution for use with multiple weapons.

It incorporates a reflex sight, ballistic computer and laser range finder into a single package.  It is user configurable and provides precision targeting for the weapon it is attached to.  In addition to weapon system, the user selects ammunition type and selects a target to engage.  The FCS 12 then selects offers a disturbed reticle for successful engagement.

MDM – MOHOC Helmet Camera

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015

The MOHOC Elite Ops Camera is a military-optimized camera developed with a specific form factor designed to be mounted to the top of a helmet. In addition to 140 deg FOV capture of 1080 full motion HD video, the 12 MP camera will also take stills. In fact, you can capture stills and video simultaneously. Additionally, the lens rotates so it will remain horizontally oriented regardless of where it is mounted.

The MOHOC has been drop tested to 2 meters and is waterproof to 10 meters. Finally, the MOHOC not only contains a Lithium Ion power cell (2 hours) but will also accept two CR123A batteries (~6 hours).

The MOHOC is expected to begin shipping this Summer. An IR Greyscale variant will also be available.
