Leupold & Stevens, Inc. Sponsors Commissioning of USS Portland

Thursday, April 26th, 2018

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Leupold & Stevens, Inc., sponsored the commissioning of the USS Portland – the first United States naval ship to be named for Portland, Oregon – on Saturday, April 21.

The San Antonio class amphibious transport is 684 feet long and is crewed by 371 sailors. It is the third USS Portland to have been commissioned by the U.S. armed forces, but the first to exclusively be named for Oregon’s largest city – previous incarnations have paid homage to Portland, Maine, or both cities simultaneously. A staple in the region for more than a century, the Leupold brand was originally founded in Portland before moving its headquarters to nearby Beaverton in 1968.

“Everyone on the Leupold team takes pride in how active the company is within our local community, and we’ve long supported the men and women of the U.S. armed forces,” said Bruce Pettet, president and chief executive officer of Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “The commissioning of the USS Portland was something we were ecstatic to take part in. We want to extend congratulations and our thanks to the ship and her crew.”

Now that the USS Portland has, as naval tradition dictates, been “brought to life” by official ship sponsor Bonnie Amos, it will call San Diego its home port. The ship is expected to be in service for the next 40 years.

“The two previous ships to bear the name Portland distinguished themselves in service to our nation,” Navy Secretary Ray Mabus said in a release prior to the commissioning. “I fully expect the future USS Portland will continue that proud tradition, whether delivering humanitarian assistance or the full range of combat capability for many decades to come.”

“Every TRACT riflescope features the ability to add a custom engraved turret to match your specific cartridge or load,” said TRACT Co-Founder Jon LaCorte. “We teamed up with Kenton Industries, the premier leader in custom turret technology, to provide highly accurate turret solutions for TRACT riflescopes. And now, during this limited-time offer, all our customers who purchase a riflescope with a T-Plex reticle can take advantage of this custom upgrade at no extra cost.”

Custom engraved turrets allow the shooter to dial in the distance for long-range high-precision shooting. Once set-up, the turrets are ready to use and easy to operate. To operate, shooters simply range-find the target and dial the turret to that distance. With all TRACT T-Plex riflescopes, which feature a second focal plane reticle, a ballistic turret will work regardless of the magnification level since the user is already using the center crosshair.

TORIC riflescope models can utilize either a Medium-Profile Turret or High-Profile Turret since each scope includes the High-Profile Turret Kit with lock and zero stop. TEKOA and TURION models can utilize the Medium-Profile Turret, or customers can purchase the accessory High-Profile Turret Kit and then use a High-Profile Turret. 22 FIRE models are available with a Low-Profile Turret.

Customers wishing to take advantage of this limited-time promotion can visit tractoptics.com/promotions/customturretspromo, add a T-Plex reticle riflescope to the cart and then select a custom turret. Before checkout, customers will be prompted to complete the Impact Ballistics by inputting the appropriate scope, ammo, sight settings and shooting conditions, plus the preferred turret profile and custom label inscription. More detailed instructions for redeeming the offer are available online.

Randy Garrison Named Director of Meopta USA Sport Optics

Thursday, April 12th, 2018

TAMPA, FL, April 11, 2018 – Meopta has named Randy Garrison Director of Meopta USA Sport Optics.  In this role, Garrison will lead day-to-day operations of the division including sales, marketing, advertising, product development and finance.

Garrison brings more than 23 years of experience in the sport optics business to his role.   Prior to joining Meopta, Garrison served as General Manager of Nikon Sport Optics.  He is also an avid outdoorsman and hunter.

“Randy’s in-depth knowledge of optics and extensive experience in the hunting and shooting industry make him the ideal choice to lead Meopta USA Sport Optics as we implement our aggressive new growth strategy,” said Gerald Rausnitz, CEO of Meopta. “We are extremely pleased to have him on our team.”

“Meopta is a true optical powerhouse, and I am excited and honored to join the company as they celebrate their 85th anniversary” said Garrison.  “Before accepting my position, I visited Meopta’s European headquarters where they employ 2,600 people and was impressed by the incredibly high-caliber equipment used to manufacture their optics.  They are unique in many ways from designing and manufacturing their own premium, high-performance optics – rather than outsourcing as most companies do – to the management structure of being an American-owned European brand.  Meopta is poised to significantly increase its market share here in the U.S., and they are providing me with all the tools necessary to make that happen.  This will ultimately benefit dealers and consumers alike.”

Reptilia Announces New Riser for Piggy-Back Red Dot Optic Mounts

Thursday, April 5th, 2018

March 22, 2018 – Reptilia, an American design and manufacturing company creating innovative, premium grade products, has announced the release of the ROF Riser, an add-on plate for their popular ROF90 and ROF45 mounts.

The ROF Riser is a piggy-back red dot optic riser, used to move the mounted reflex sight 2.5mm further from the host scope’s centerline, providing extra clearance for tall turrets or larger-belled scope bodies.

Precision machined from billet 7075 aluminum and protected with Mil-spec type III hard coat finish, the ROF Riser weighs just 8.6g with a height of 2.5mm.

Initially available for the Triijicon RMR, the ROF Riser comes with longer 6-32 screws for mounting.

“Our products are designed to fill voids that will help make current products work more efficiently and effectively,” stated Eric Burt, Reptilia’s President and Head of Design. “We received a request for piggy-back reflex optic mounting solutions which drove us to create our ROF line. When mounting ROF90 and ROF45, some magnified optics have taller turrets or bells so they need more distance from centerline for the red dot to maintain sight picture. We took those requirements and developed something that is functional and efficient.”

Burt, one of the industry’s most respected and sought after Industrial Designers, founded Reptilia with the intent to address issues that were frequently overlooked in the firearms industry. Ranging from simple design tweaks to grander-scale innovations, Reptilia is the vehicle to bring ideas to fruition. Promising an insatiable need to innovate and bridge the gaps that challenge end users. Reptilia stand by their mantra of, “Superiority Through Evolution.” In a world that is always evolving, Reptilia strive to produce products and provide services that are unmatched in this industry.

The ROF Riser will be available April 2018, through the Reptilia web store at www.reptiliacorp.com/store.
