A Utility Balisong for EDC

New for June 2022, Terrain 365™ releases their Invictus Bali-Ti. A “utility balisong for EDC”, taking design cues from the Invictus folder series. Featuring their unique, edge holding, rustproof Terravantium™ blade alloy, titanium billet handle and pocket clip, titanium hardware, on bronze bushings with a spring latch. Signature design details include handle and blade fullers, fine jimping on the ears and backspacers, and a purpose driven industrial aesthetic. Made with a 3.75” blade and 4” handles, the Invictus Bali-Ti comes in at an easy to pocket and carry “EDC size”.

The Invictus Bali-Ti is available with Terravantium™ blades and full billet titanium handles. An integrated bolstered version with carbon fiber scales to follow later this summer.

Creative Director and Co-Founder Patrick Ma of Terrain 365 states,

“The Invictus Bali-Ti is what I would categorize as a utility butterfly knife. Slightly smaller than the typical ‘flipper’, I find this size very pocketable and easier to carry. The overall design is purpose driven and well suited for EDC for those who would like the novelty and handling of a balisong or butterfly style knife.”

The Invictus Bali-Ti is available now for $325.00 on their website.

Partial proceeds from every firearm sold by ZEV Technologies will go directly to help fund the FPC in their efforts to restore liberty and freedom.

Spiritus Systems Releases the 34 Alpha Split Chest Rig Chassis

Friday, June 24th, 2022

Available today at 1600 EDT!

Spiritus Systems has added a new chest rig chassis to its line of modular chest rig components. The 34 Alpha Chest Rig is a split chassis that will interface directly with the existing Spiritus Systems straps and pouches.

This is a true blank-slate platform that enables load-carriage configuration options for weapon ammo of nearly any caliber, and when combined with the Spiritus Systems current Pouch Suite, the end user’s options are near-limitless. The system is constructed to be as low-profile as possible to add minimal bulk to the finished split rig, letting the end-user configure a chest rig that does exactly what they need it to do on any given mission without added bulk or unused space.

The system can be paired with a set of Micro Fight Fat Straps and Back Strap to create a complete platform for a wide range of load bearing configurations. The panels are built with Squadron MOLLE front faces and elastic cells on the back for extra storage. The bottom of each 34 Alpha Panel also has a Velcro slot to mount hanger pouches. The chest rig panels are connected via two sliding Fastex buckles that provide a secure connection point, as well as quick, one-handed, opening and closing when engaging in activities that may require an open front configuration (i.e. going into the prone). They also allow for micro adjustments at the front without having to modify the width of the back strap.

Each panel features six columns of MOLLE on the front and is compatible with all of Spiritus’ GP Pouches, our SPUD Pouch, the Liberty Dynamic Flash Bang Pouch, the JSTA Pouch, and Nalgene Water Bottle Pouch. Top of the panel is built with integrated anchor point holes that give the wearer a secure solution for internal magazine retention when combined with our bungee retention kit, or to tie down secure items stored on the chest rig pouches.

The internal elastic cells in the back are sewn in at three different widths to accommodate a wide range of items ranging from pistol magazines and multi-tools, all the way to 7.62 rifle mags and more. When assembled, the 34 Alpha Split Rig gives end-users access to a load bearing solution that will support a wide range of weapon platforms, mission profiles, and loadouts.

NSSF Statement on the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act

Thursday, June 23rd, 2022

NEWTOWN, Conn.— NSSF®, the firearm industry trade association, has carefully examined the proposed Bipartisan Safer Communities Act legislation. NSSF appreciates the good faith effort by U.S. Senate negotiators to arrive at a proposal that would meaningfully address criminal violence all too frequently occurring in our communities. NSSF is encouraged by portions of the proposal, but we have important concerns about other aspects of the bill that impact our industry and the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans.

We are thankful the Senate proposal provides significant resources for mental health treatment and services. Most of the horrendous tragedies that have befallen our communities have involved unaddressed mental health issues. We are also heartened the proposal provides necessary resources to help enhance school security to help protect the most vulnerable.

NSSF supports the effort to strengthen federal criminal law to address straw purchasing and firearms trafficking. We have led the effort to stop the illegal straw purchasing firearms and trafficking. For over two decades, NSSF has partnered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in the Don’t Lie for the Other Guy™ campaign that helps educate retailers on how to detect and prevent such transactions and to educate the public that it is a serious crime.

Through our #FixNICS® initiative and support for the Cornyn-Murphy bipartisan FixNICS Act named after our program, NSSF has been the leading voice working to ensure our background check system provides timely and accurate information to retailers to ensure they do not sell firearms to prohibited persons. We strongly encourage all states to provide disqualifying juvenile records into the system so that it works as intended.

We support requiring those who are in the business of selling firearms for profit be licensed under federal law. However, the proposed legislation fails to provide clear and needed guidance to our industry – particularly those who would be newly licensed – as to what conduct constitutes a willful violation warranting a revocation of their license. This is especially important given the Department of Justice’s “zero tolerance” policy and the over 500 percent increase in license revocation proceedings that have occurred under this administration.

While NSSF understands the need for law enforcement to intervene in circumstances when someone is an imminent threat to themselves or others, we have steadfastly maintained that if that intervention involves removing a person’s firearms there must be strong Due Process protections in place. Current “extreme risk protective orders” that exist in 19 states do not come close to providing adequate due process protections when the government deprives someone of their fundamental Constitutional rights. We cannot support the use of taxpayer funds to implement more such unconstitutional laws without specific and iron clad assurances Due Process rights will be protected.

“There are several provisions of this legislative package that NSSF could support including providing more resources for mental health services and school security. However, the ambiguity over state records, the lack of clear definitions, and unaddressed due process concerns prevent us from supporting this legislative package as presented,” said Joseph Bartozzi, NSSF President and Chief Executive Officer.

NSSF encourages the Senate to continue its negotiations to arrive at a package that will provide real solutions to make our communities safer.

Sitka Introduces Its Most Advanced Insulation Pieces To Date With The Ambient Collection

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2022

BOZEMAN, MONT.

SITKA, the leading pioneer in performance hunting apparel and specialized gear, today introduced its most advanced line of insulation pieces to date with the new Ambient Collection.

Designed by SITKA’s product experts using best-in-class technologies and decades of experience in outdoor environments around the world, the Ambient Collection is engineered to adapt to changing weather conditions as well as levels of activity. This means when users are static and temperatures are low, the pieces insulate to deliver warmth. When wearers are active or temperatures rise, the pieces breathe well to expel heat.

“These active insulation products adapt to changing conditions allowing for more efficient layering,” said John Barlow, SITKA’s Big Game Product Manager. “The Ambient Collection transitions seamlessly from outerwear when active to a mid-layer as activity slows and temperatures drop.”

The Collection features a Men’s Ambient Jacket ($309), a Women’s Ambient Jacket ($309), and a Men’s Ambient Hoody ($279). Each item is constructed with post-consumer recycled PrimaLoft® Evolve insulation, 20-denier ripstop nylon fabric for durability, a DWR finish for enhanced weather protection, and mechanical stretch to provide comfort and a full range of motion.

The PrimaLoft® Evolve insulation mimics properties found in animal fur with fibers of differing lengths and deniers to create natural highs and lows in the material. This produces highly open structures that maximize airflow when on the move, and air entrapment when at rest, for optimal thermal performance with low bulk. Additionally, SITKA strategically designed the pieces without a traditional liner, making the garments two layers instead of the commonly used three-layer construction. This unique design creates a more efficient transfer of heat and moisture.

“This collection increases the performance of any Sitka clothing system providing unmatched versatility during active pursuits in cool and cold weather,” Barlow added. “Whether chasing bugles on a brisk morning, backpacking above timberline or making your way back to camp in the frigid darkness, the Ambient collection is your adaptive insulation solution.”

Each item is available in GORE OPTIFADE Subalpine with other select GORE OPTIFADE Patterns and solid colors available. To learn more about the collection, view a video overview and explore available colorways visit www.sitkagear.com/ambient.
