Post SHOT Show Wrapup – CORE Survival’s PIM for Hel-Star 6

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2016

Program Interface Module For Field Re-Programming of the HEL-STAR 6 & F2

The PIM-701 is a handheld, wireless device that allows military users to re-program the four functions of selected HEL-STAR 6 and F2 models in the field. The PIM itself is programmed through a USB connection to a Windows-based computer or laptop using software that is included with and downloaded from the PIM. Setting new functions in the PIM is handled through an easy to learn, image-oriented graphical user interface.

The PIM functions wirelessly through an infrared (IR) interface with the HEL-STAR over distances of a few feet. The PIM can either re-program any or all of the four factory-installed functions (the NEW PGM button), or to return the HEL-STAR to its original factory settings (the DEFAULT button). The HEL-STAR device provides visible or visible and vibratory confirmation of both program mode readiness and acceptance of the new program or default instructions. The PIM re-programming system provides various protocols and automatic time-outs to prevent inadvertent re-programming and
conserve battery capacity.

Post SHOT Show Wrapup – Tikka Canada Ranger Rifle

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2016

Last year, the Canadian military chose a Tikka rifle to replace the .303 Lee-Enfield No. 4 rifles long issued to their Rangers. Generally, the Canadian Rangers are First Nation and live along the country’s vast frontier. More of a militia than a standing military force, they assume duties as scouts while they conduct their day-to-day tasks and receive a stipend, rifle and training.

The Canadians plan to buy about 6,820 of this version of the Tikka T3 Compact Tactical Rifle designated for service as the C-19. As you probably know, Tikka is owned by Beretta and is the sister company of their Sako brand. Tikka is well known as a great value for hunters. These will not be manufactured in Finland but rather by Colt Canada although Stoeger is handling the deal.

This rifle features a 20″ barrel in .308 with a 1:11 twist. The bolt action is fed by a detachable 10 round magazine. You’ll also notice the laminate stock and oversized trigger guard for use with cold weather handwear.

Although this display model is shown with a Steiner scope, it is my understanding they will be issued with just the iron sights. However, this does demonstrate the rifle’s scope mount and it’s also a BDT company.

Post SHOT Show Wrapup – Magpul D60 Pouch

Monday, February 1st, 2016

I know we posted this during SHOT Show but I just had someone ask me about pouches for the Magpul D60.  I haven’t seen any aftermarket pouches come out yet, but Magpul has one on the way that uses Tactical Tailor’s MALICE clips for PALS compatibility.

Post SHOT Show Wrapup – FlexSystems

Sunday, January 31st, 2016

Like many in the firearms and tactical products industries, we turn to FlexSystems for our SHOT Show giveaway morale patches.  Their products are American made and they bend over backwards to get you your PVC patches on time.  They also make a wide variety of other PVC items such as key rings, tags and stickers.  We just received a sample of another project they accomplished for Primary Weapons Systems.

This clear mat has the image applied to the reverse side so it won’t come off while you are displaying your items.  It came out great and is just another example of the cool things FlexSystems can do to help you promote your business.

Post SHOT Show Wrapup – Galactac AR500 Ballistic Armor Suit

Sunday, January 31st, 2016

IMG_0418

Artist Ryan B. Flowers has been selling his Mandalorian-inspired Galactac armor sets for a while now, but this is the first time one’s been made of actual ballistic armor, and it has some high-profile industry names behind its creation. Ballistic armor manufacturer AR500, Heckler & Koch, SureFire, SOG Knives, Team Wendy, Armasight, and TEA Headsets all threw their support, and products, into the development of what is essentially a set of contemporary ballistic Mandalorian armor. This set was floating around the SHOT Show floor, spending its time between the H&K and AR500 booths, the later where we found it and took a few photos for your perusal.

Stay tuned for the further info on the development of this suit at a later date.

You can get a set of the non ballistic armor at www.galac-tac.com/home.
