SHOT Show 20 – Tardigrade Industries’ OCELLUS Armored Eyewear

Friday, January 24th, 2020

Tardigrade Industries‘ OCELLUS line of Armored Eyewear is amazing. They showed is an early version and they’ve come a long way. They have met STANAG body armor rating for frag as well as other threats.

They’ve vastly improved the form factor to something more akin to a low profile goggle than the SCUBA mask-like earlier version. One of the next steps is integration of an Rx insert.

SHOT Show 20 – B&T APC10

Friday, January 24th, 2020

APC10? That’s right, B&T has introduced a 10mm version of their popular subgun. I got a chance to shoot it at Range Day and it’s a very smooth gun.

It features their new dual auto-folding, non-reciprocating charging handle and a side positioned bolt hold open/release. You can also customize the gun thanks to removable M4 compatible grip as well as a plethora of stock options. Better yet, the APC10 accepts Glock magazines.

SHOT Show 20 – ACTinBlack DTNVS

Friday, January 24th, 2020

The new DTNVS from ACTinBlack combines lightweight materials and a low profile while folded to the helmet to reduce neck strain during extended missions. Remember, ACTinBlack offers chassis which others assemble into full goggles. This means it weighs around 500 grams when combined with US tubes and glass.

The DTNVS goggle has a full feature set with individual sideways ON/OFF for each eyepiece and Flip-Up ON/OFF when folded up preventing backsplash on the helmet.

To complete the DTNVGs’ features it incorporates built-in IR LED for close quarter missions with separate IR-ON indicator and low battery indicator in the field of view. It is waterproof to 20m and boats a 30hour battery life.

SHOT Show 20 – AUFIRE

Friday, January 24th, 2020

The AUFIRE System is in the SOTECH booth (#20113).

The Accuracy Under Fire Trainer System (AUFIRE) was developed by Tim Pearce, a veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department. They describe it as a uniquely intense and realistic gunfight training tool designed to improve one’s aim, accuracy and focus during heated gunfire force-on- force scenarios. In short, the AUFIRE system simulates being hit by gunfire, and it forces the trainee to problem solve under the intense distraction and random immobilization of a limb during a gunfight, the trainee feels as if they have been shot. AUFIRE takes away the guesswork and reveals the participant’s real reactions to having one or more of their body parts completely incapacitated in a gunfight.

Scalarworks showed is a version of the Leap Mount with 1.93″ height and 34mm rings. This is great for the new Vortex 10x. The Leap is CNC milled from 7075-T6 billet. It also incorporates a hinged ring system rather than the split rings found on other mounts.

SHOT Show 20 – Blue Force Gear Lightweight MOLLEminus Belt

Thursday, January 23rd, 2020

During DSEI we have you a taste of great things yo come from BFG. The Lightweight MOLLEminus Belt is now in production with delivery to commence shortly in MultiCam with other colors to soon follow. Sizes 28-46.

I am very impressed with this belt which not only boasts light weight and ergonomic design, but also a static load rating of 3500lbs (15.5 kN).

Here is their press release:

BLUE FORCE GEAR® ANNOUNCES THE LIGHTEST MOLLE COMPATIBLE SAFETY RESTRAINT BELT EVER MADE

POOLER, GA (January 16, 2020) — Blue Force Gear’s absolute dedication to Lighten the Load™ for the warfighter has led to the development of a state-of-the-art, fully MOLLE-compatible belt system that – incredibly – weighs just half as much as competing brands, and with a static load rating of 3500lbs (15.5 kN). Intelligent design, proprietary ULTRAcomp laminate and valuable feedback from elite professionals all contributed to the success of this belt system, one we are very proud to bring to market.

“Our new Lightweight MOLLEminus® Belt is the result of many months of focused design work and nearly daily interaction with our SOF customers. We listened intently to their evolving needs and the MOLLEminus Belt is a product of that synergy” said Stephen Hilliard, Director of Product Development for Blue Force Gear. Constructed using Blue Force Gear’s proprietary ULTRAcomp® laminate – a layered composite material – coupled with other technologically advanced components; the MAB is set to revolutionize how the modern warfighter carries their first-line kit.

Some innovative features include ULTRAcomp® laminate and composite components that are cut on a bias to provide custom-fit-comfort right out of the box. A lanyard “hard-point” at the rear of the belt is positioned for greater safety should the user depend on the restraint feature, and a matching inner belt is laser perforated for increased breathability and comfort. All this, and the Lightweight MOLLEminus Belt still comes in at only 0.65lbs for the inner/outer belt system (size 32).

The composite material sandwiched between the layers of the outer belt provide more than sufficient stiffness to carry a sidearm, plus mission essential loads without affecting overall comfort, or compromising the stability of the system.

Lastly, the MAB is Made in America of Berry compliant materials and will be available 4th quarter, 2019.
