SHOT Show 19 – Garmont Atlas

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2019

The new Atlas is an upgrade of the Bifida and will be available in Atlas, Atlas GTX and Atlas GTX Full Grain.

One change is that they’ve removed the cinch eyelet in the notch. Additionally, it has a new sole which is t as slippery when wet. Finally, the upper and eyelet leather is now one piece.

Don’t worry Bifida fans, it will still be available. Look for the Atlas later this year.

SHOT Show 19 – Wild Things Rescue Jacket

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2019

The new Rescue Jacket is based on the original Hard Shell Jacket SO design. This Gore-Tex Jacket is not only waterproof and breathable, but it’s certified FR as well thanks to the Gore Pyrad treatment.

It features covered zippers throughout, including the chest and bicep pockets.

But the biggest change are the two hem to elbow zippers along each side making the Rescue Jacket easy to din and doff as well as vent, when needed. Likewise, it can be zipped up tight in order to protect the wearer from flame threats. Additionally, there is a helmet sized hood which can be stored in the hood.

Offered in Coyote and MultiCam, sizes XS – XXXL.

SHOT Show 18 – Droneshield

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2019

In addition to the many other products and services TSSI (Booth #30103) is displaying at SHOT Show, they are displaying Droneshield. Just this morning, reports of a drone sighting at Newark International Airport resulted in cancelled flights.

While the government continues to make decisions about who will be given the authorities to defeat drones (DroneGun Seen above), Droneshield has detection systems named DroneSentry and DroneSentinel which could have verified if a drone was present in the airspace and characterized it. They combine radar, RF sensors and EO/IR sensors.

They are passive, readily available on GSA Schedule and rapidly deployable. In fact, they are regularly deployed for events such as the Winter Olympics, Boston Marathon, NASCAR and other large public gatherings.

SHOT Show 19 – SureFire Update

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2019

Here are a few updates for you from SureFire.

First off, they’ve introduced a Titanium version of the popular SOCOM300 Suppressor.

It was developed for use with 300 WM and 300 PRC bolt-action rifled, but many are using it as an all around Suppressor, with 7.62, .308. .300 and even 5.56/.223.

Next up is the SF Ryder 9-Ti2. It features a Titanium tube and stainless steel baffles. While it’s slightly heavier than the original version, design tweaks make it more reliable when get out towards 1000 rounds without cleaning.

SureFire is offering an all IR version of the XC2. The XC2-A-IRC offers up to 4 hours of IR Laser and/or light.

But the biggest thing I’ve been asked about is whether there’s a holster compatible with the new XVL2 light and laser combo.

Yes, there is. SureFire worked with Safariland Group who created a version of the 6360 Holster for a Glock 19/23 equipped with a XLV2.

Products will begin rolling out soon from www.surefire.com.

SHOT Show 19 – More Details On SIG’s New 338 Norma Mag Machine Gun

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2019

The SIG SL MAG in 338 NM continues to impress. We got a few minutes to check a few of the features we mentioned in our initial article as well as some others. For example, it was designed specifically for use with a direct thread Suppressor. Additionally, SIG has developed an optic specifically for use with this and other weapons.

If you’re a machine gunner, you’re going to appreciate the adaptability of the feed mechanism and cover.

There are both top open and side open feed tray covers. This means the optic stays put.

Additionally, feed can be converted from left to right.

The SL MAG also does not require the gunner to open the feed tray to add a new belt. Simply insert the belt into the feed tray cover.

You’ll also notice an optic, mounted to the Picatinny Rail along the top of the receiver.

It’s based on the same technology developed for SIG Optics’ Ballistic Data Xchange or BDX family of optics for hunting.

However, rather than a separate, stand-alone Laser Range Finder, this optic features an integrated LRF in addition to Applied Ballistics software to offer a disturbed reticle as well as distance and azimuth to target on the screen.

This optic will also be featured on the SIG Next Generation Squad Automatic Rifle PON currently underway and could be used with any existing crew served or individual weapon. Additionally, it can be used in conjunction with a magnifier for long distance shots. SIG even mentioned offering a variable power magnifier for use with this smart optic.
