B&T USA Expands Production of APC9K SD2 US Army Submission

Friday, January 19th, 2024

Tampa, Florida–B&T USA, a leading manufacturer of firearms and suppressors, is pleased to announce that it has expanded production of its 9mm APC9K SD2 models complete with the company’s scalable suppressor system. This variant was submitted for consideration during the United States Army Sub Compact Weapon (SCW) trials as a demonstration of technology, with the Army ultimately awarding that contract to B&T USA for its APC9K SMG.

“To win a U.S. Government contract, you must submit a product that as closely meets the defined specifications as possible. That’s not necessarily what you think the end user needs, but when we’re developing platforms like this, we want to be two steps ahead of the game,” said Chris Mudgett, Vice President of Marketing, B&T USA. “In other words, we want to build firearms that won’t be obsolete in a year—or three years, or even 10. Without a doubt, that’s a challenge in the technologically advanced landscape of modern battlefields and urban law enforcement, but when the U.S. Army sees what you’ve done and acknowledges you gave them more than they asked for—much more—you’ve succeeded in fielding a firearm that has market longevity.

“Initially introduced in a very limited production run to service the SCW contract, the demand for the APC9K SD2 from other market segments has been unprecedented,” continued Mudgett. “What our customer want, our customers get, and we’re excited to be ramping up our production numbers in 2024.”

At less than 15 inches in overall length, the APC9K SD2 is the shortest integrally suppressed submachine gun available on the market today (a semi-automatic version is also available to both consumer and professional markets). With a 3-inch ported barrel and an over-the-barrel suppressor design that is fully contained within the short, M-Lok-compatible SD handguard, this weapon is optimized for low-visibility carriage and discreet deployment, delivering exceptional accuracy, controllability and ergonomics. Should the user require the utmost in suppression in lieu of compactness, a second-stage suppressor can be threaded onto the first, providing APC9 SD Compact-level (mid-length) decibel reduction.

See the Dark Wolf Ventures Howler at SHOT Show

Thursday, January 18th, 2024

Satcom/RF Backhaul with Advanced Situational Awareness
The Dark Wolf Howler is one of many custom communications products!! Whether you are working with P25 or other platforms, the Howler can connect you anywhere in the world using the Iridium LEO constellation, even if you’re on the move! In one current configuration (as shown), ICOM’s F7500 Series P25 radios are backhauled over the ICOM SAT100M Satellite radios for a true BLOS (Beyond Line Of Site) system. In the pics, Jay Chapman and Brandon Newsome from Iridium, Kevin Rutherford from Dark Wolf Ventures, and Glenn Williams from ICOM America conducted a demonstration in which P25 radios at an installation in South Korea are connected over satellite to IDAS radios in Ft. Carson, CO. This P25 to IDAS RF backhaul through the Iridium constellation also allows for real time PLI tracking and messaging through ATAK on a Samsung Tablet.

Schedule a meeting to join us at SHOT Show this year and check out one of our newest releases.

The Howler from Dark Wolf Ventures integrates ATAK on the Tab Active 3 from our partners at Samsung.

Dark Wolf Ventures’ custom ATAK plug-in provides remote command and control of the connected radios, real time updates of physical location, short messaging, and improved situational awareness.

Jay Chapman and Brandon Newsome from Iridium conducted a demonstration of the P25 Howler in South Korea.

Even while using different digital protocols, the Howler provided seamless situational awareness and consistent communications from around the world.

The Howler in mobile IDAS configuration was connected from Fort Carson, CO to the P25 Howler in South Korea. The mobile configuration goes from storage to fully operational and backhauling over satellite in fewer than five minutes, and can even be used on the go.

Galvion Introduces E.D.G – a Headborne Power and Data Distribution and Management System

Thursday, January 18th, 2024

Galvion, a world leader in power and data management solutions and innovative head protection systems, is introducing E.D.G™ (Energy Data Grid; pronounced “edge”), a modular and scalable power and data distribution and management system for headborne accessories. The introduction coincides with Shot Show 2024 taking place in Las Vegas, USA, 23-26 January 2024, where Galvion will be exhibiting E.D.G, alongside their other products, on Booth 32003.

Galvion’s E.D.G headborne system has been developed in response to the continuing and escalating power and data needs of the warfighter. Developed over multiple years, the scalable power solution was first introduced on Galvion’s PDxT™ helmet platform to meet the operational needs of the United States Marine Corps as a part of the Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) Integrated Helmet System (IHS) Other Transaction Agreement (OTA). Designed through an iterative development cycle, incorporating real-time feedback from USMC trials throughout the process, the E.D.G system represents a critical step in transitioning from a protective ‘helmet’ to an ‘integrated helmet system’ that enhances lethality and survivability. In response to similar operational needs across multiple global customers and end-users, the E.D.G system will be available for Galvion’s flagship Batlskin Caiman® head system, and when released for full production, the flexible and scalable power system can be retrofitted to a fielded helmet or delivered as a fully assembled helmet system.

The E.D.G system includes the Base Power Pack, powered by a single CR123 battery, and an attachable Extended Power Pack that accommodates a minimum of two and up to six AA batteries, boosting power availability and delivery when needed, but removeable to lighten the load when not.

The system also features a battery-powered strobe and VAS connection point, ready for emerging technologies like AR and VR. It features an independent task light and evolved rails with integrated cable management and storage. An innovative feature of this system is the state-of-charge indicators on the Extended Power Pack, also viewable in the NVG display, ensuring operators know how much power they have available at all times.

Todd Stirtzinger, CEO at Galvion, said: “We are heavily invested in preparing our military and tactical teams to meet the ever-evolving technology and equipment demands of the modern battlefield. We work with tier 1 customers every day and see the challenges coming with the proliferation of headborne accessories and capabilities. Managing their power and data needs is a critical part of that. The E.D.G system represents a united effort across Galvion’s power & data, industrial design, human performance, and head systems teams to develop a user-focused solution, and we’re excited to introduce this capability to our global customer base.” He added: “With more and more of our Caiman® helmets out in the field, this retrofittable power system represents an upgrade path for existing systems or is of course available on a fully kitted new head system. We’re also excited about the future opportunity to include E.D.G in our NSPA framework contract so our multiple NATO customers can more easily access this technology and capability”.

Aimpoint Announces New Acro S-2 Shotgun Sight for SHOT Show and Industry Day at the Range

Wednesday, January 17th, 2024

Manassas – January 17, 2024 – Aimpoint®, the originator and worldwide leader in red dot sighting technology, announces the release of the new Aimpoint® Acro S-2™ sight for SHOT Show 2024 and Industry Day at the Range™. Designed specifically for use on shotguns with a ventilated rib, the Acro S-2 greatly enhances hit percentage for small games, bird hunting and on the sporting clays course. The sight provides a compact, low-profile optic for shotgun hunters and sport shooters.

The integrated carbon fiber reinforced mounting system positions the Acro S-2™ on the lowest possible optical axis without adding unnecessary weight. The optic attaches directly to the ventilated rib and includes eight interchangeable adapter plates to accommodate most standard shotguns. The large 9 MOA red dot simplifies lead visualization, enhancing the automatic refinement of muzzle swing and positioning.

The Aimpoint® Acro S-2 is sleek with no protruding features, providing a clear field of view with both eyes open. The low optical axis of 15 mm allows for proper mounting of the gun to the cheek. For shooters who are cross-eye dominance, this new sight allows the shooter to use their strong side while shooting without an ocular or having to switch sides all together.

“Adding the Acro S-2™ sight to your shotgun provides invaluable feedback, as the red dot shows exactly where the bore is relative to the target. It makes a superb training tool for beginners, shortens the learning curve, and providing immediate success,” says Brian Lisankie, President of Aimpoint Inc.
