Cartoonist and Army Veteran Mark Baker Introduces Charlie Mike Comix

Monday, February 11th, 2019

Years ago, I had the pleasure of serving with PVT Murphy’s Law creator Mark Baker. We’re both now long retired from the military but Mark hasn’t given up on cartooning. Instead, he’s just introduced Charlie Mike Comix to Patreon and he wants to give it a go as a career.

This time, the subject is much more serious, sharing the experiences of others, in graphic form.

The website is charliemikecomix.com. Support Mark Baker’s Patreon At www.patreon.com/charliemikecomix. You can also follow Charlie Mike Comix on Facebook.

Regular Guy Tactical – A Holster Company

Tuesday, February 5th, 2019

During last week’s Outdoor Retailer Snow Show I had to pleasure of meeting the owner of Regular Guy Tactical. Turns out the owner of RGT is anything but regular.

One of the good things about Outdoor Retailer moving to Denver is that it’s fairly close to Fort Carson, Colorado, home of the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne). Regular Guy Tactical was founded by a wounded warrior 10th Group NCO who has taken the needs of his profession and created a holster to satisfy them in his off-duty time. Since he is still on active duty, we’ll keep his identity a secret, but due to his injuries, he will probably be separating soon.

As for the holster itself. It’s an injection molded modular design that quickly converts from inside to outside the waist band. They use their own clip to secure the holster which combined with the grid holes allows ride height and cant adjustment.

Their patented retention system relies on silicon bands which can be combined up to four total to adjust the amount of retention.

The holster is also configurable for left or right handed use. Additionally, the screws are countersunk so you never scratch your pistol’s finish.

There’s a concealment device molded into the holster to prevent printing.

The magazine carrier can be worn stand alone of mounted to the IWB platform and is configurable for right or left carry (bullets to front or rear) as well as height and cant.

Currently, RGT only makes holsters for the most common Glock handguns. This is simply a matter of being a small, but growing company and concentrating initially on the pistols they encounter most often.

If all of that isn’t enough, a portion of every sale goes to the Special Forces Foundation.

3M Combat Arms Earplug Lawsuit

Monday, February 4th, 2019

While we are sure there is more than one attorney handling these claims, we were asked to get the word out.

Hey All, Robert (Bob) Webb is the point-man for Kaiser Gornick on the Lawsuit for service members who suffer hearing loss due to the use of the 3M Combat Arms Earplugs. Forward this to everyone you know who served combat arms from 2002-2015.

The DOD recently settled with 3M for $10 mil. compensation for these faulty earplugs. Kaiser Gornick is now reaching out to those of us who were directly affected through the use of the 3M Combat Earplugs. If you think there is the slightest possibility that you were affected by the use of these plugs; it would behoove you to get on board NOW.  There is a high probability of compensation.  Bob says he will require you to fill out a two page document.  Pretty simple.

Bob writes:

As we discussed, Kaiser Gornick is representing men and women who used the 3M Combat Arms earplugs while serving in the U.S. military between 2002 – 2015, and who have been diagnosed with tinnitus or hearing loss. These earplugs were standard issue during those years and have been proven to be defective – they afforded no noise cancelling protection to the service men and women who used them. Please feel free to forward this email to any of your friends who fit the profile – I’d like to discuss how we can help. The direct number below rings to my cell if I’m away from my desk, so I’m reachable any time. Thanks brother!

Cody Firearms Museum Seeks Veterans to Be a Part of History at CFM Veteran VIP Experience

Saturday, January 19th, 2019

Cody Firearms Museum to host US Veterans and record their histories as they make their way across America at the CFM Veteran VIP Experience in Cody, WY

CODY — January 17, 2019— Today, the Cody Firearms Museum (CFM) revealed a teaser for one of its new premier exhibits to be launched at its grand re-opening the weekend of July 5, 2019. Among the many exhibits to be unveiled this summer, the Military Area will incorporate first-hand accounts from U.S. veterans. The CFM seeks U.S. veterans to relay testimonials of their service and experiences at the CFM Veteran VIP Experience.

The CFM Veteran VIP Experience is an invitation to veterans and active military to be the very first to record personal accounts, offering museum-goers a glimpse into the complexity of their jobs and the magnitude of their bravery. “The CFM Veteran VIP Experience will capture a living history that we are proud to curate at our museum,” said Ashley Hlebinsky, Curator at the Cody Firearms Museum. “The testimonials from our veterans will provide insight for generations to come as well as create a community-centric model for our museum.”

The CFM Veteran VIP Experience will take place on July 5, the day before the CFM opens to the public. Participating veterans will have a first glance at the exhibit and are invited the following day to the public opening along with their families. “We want to offer our veterans a VIP experience while becoming the first to contribute to this recorded legacy,” continued Hlebinsky. “The interactive component is user-friendly and will be on display for our 200,000 annual visitors. We’re calling on vets and vet organizations to join us during our grand re-opening in July.”

The CFM is seeking veteran organizations to partner with them in promoting and/or sponsoring the special event. The CFM Veteran VIP Experience requires an RSVP to the event and is exclusive to veterans and active military personnel. Inquires may be directed to kie@solutionnaires.com.

Additionally, you can meet Ashley Hlebinsky – Curator at the CFM. Her level of knowledge is amazing. She will be at the CFM booth #2428 on Thursday, January 24th from 2pm – 3:30pm.

Modern Tactical Creations – Suppressor Shield

Thursday, December 20th, 2018

Modern Tactical Creations was founded by two SF NCOs to create solutions to problems found at the operator and team level. In the past we have mentioned their Chemlight Cache and Antenna Keeper. This time, we’re showing you the Suppressor Shield.

The Modtac Suppressor Shield fits over a Suppressor and is designed to minimize mirage, cool the suppressor naturally, and protect the operator.

PROTECTION
• The employment of an air gap and carbon fiber reduce the observed surface temperature up to 50%.
• The low thermal conductivity of carbon fiber reduces the “felt” surface temperature to a point that is safer for incidental contact, even at extreme suppressor temperatures.

MINIMIZE MIRAGE
• Solid top design eliminates mirage along the length of the suppressor.
• Carbon fiber’s low thermal transfer rate reduces mirage causing exposed outer surfaces.

COOL THE SUPPRESSOR
• Spacers create an air gap that does not trap heat like a fabric/silicone suppressor wrap.
• Vent design promotes air flow around the suppressor.

SECURE ATTACHMENT
• Mechanical attachment holds tight through heat expansion and heavy recoil.
• Suppressor can be removed without removing the shield first.

Available in six lengths, the Suppressor Shield is offered in Natural (Carbon Fiber), Coyote Tan or OD Green.

Support SKI4theFALLEN by Buying a T-shirt

Wednesday, December 5th, 2018

You can support SKI4theFALLEN by purchasing a t-shirt.

In March 2019, a few of our nation’s Green Berets will be competing in the Grand Traverse Ski Race. The Grand Traverse is a 40-mile alpine race, with a roughly seven thousand foot elevation change, through the Elk Mountains in Colorado, from Crested Butte to Aspen. Far too often Green Berets are sent into combat operations that the regular populace is unaware of, resulting in WIA and KIA soldiers. Unfortunately our Green Berets, along with their families, are many times left without help when something goes wrong. The Green Berets competing in the Grand Traverse are not doing this for themselves but want to raise awareness and financial support for their extended family, The Green Beret Regiment, through the Green Beret Association. Please follow their journey on Instagram @SKI4theFALLEN, or Facebook, Skifor Thefallen. Donations to the campaign can be made through gofundme.

Get yours at odatacticalapparel.com/collections/t-shirts/products/ski4thefallen for a Christmas delivery.

Attention US Military Retirees – Your Current Dental Program Is Going Away – Sign Up For The New One, Plus Vision Insurance

Thursday, November 29th, 2018

If you’re a military retiree like me, you’ve been using the TRICARE Retiree Dental Program through Delta Dental, but that’s going away at the end of this year.

Instead, we’re eligible to enroll in the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP). In addition to dental insurance, we can also get vision coverage which is a welcome addition for me as I started wearing glasses a few years ago.

New coverage will begin 1 January, 2019, but you will not be automatically enrolled in a FEDVIP plan for 2019. It is imperative you enroll during the Federal Benefits Open Season, which is November 12–December 10, 2018.

After consulting with my dentist regarding which plans he accepts, I took the plunge the other day. I didn’t need any existing passwords for MyPay or DEERS. The website was easy to use and within 15 minutes I had enrolled in both dental vision plans for myself and my dependents, and that time included comparing available plans.

You can’t ignore this. Once again, if you don’t enroll, you’ll lose your coverage.
