Frank Proctor On His Y Notch Sights

Wednesday, January 25th, 2017

“This picture is pretty close to what a shooter sees when shooting my Y Notch sights. I designed them for improved accuracy with less room for error and maximum speed. They have been working pretty good for me and I’m just a barely average shooter with not much experience.”

SHOT Show 17 – Badger Ordnance

Tuesday, January 24th, 2017

Badger Ordnance continues to innovate in mounting solutions.

Badger Ordnance has several new offerings coming for the first quarter of 2017. First off is their new line of bipod mounts and bipod kits. This line started 2 years ago when an employee with Badger Ordnance made a low profile mount for his Harris bipod to direct attach to his AR-10. Based off his experiences instructing Snipers he’d seen and experienced several Harris mounting plates break or come loose when shooting off barricades.

The new Badger Ordnance Low Profile Harris Mount is designed to replace the current mounting plate and thumbscrew for Harris Engineering swivel style bipods. Made to have a slimmer profile than traditional bipod mounting options while having a much more robust interface to allow barricade braced shooting without fear of breaking the attachment system. Easily retrofit any Harris BRM-S bipod in just a few short minutes. Made from 7075 T6 Aluminum and Type lll Hard Coat Anodized for a lifetime of flawless function. Available for Magpul M-LOK, Picatinny, and Remington RACS style handguards.

Badger Ordnance has also worked alongside Harris to design an exclusive bipod with the leg extension buttons placed on the inside to avoid accidental extension when bracing the bipods against barricades. The mounts can be bought separately as a retrofit for current Harris designs or bought as a package with the new bipod legs.

Also new from Badger is a line of accessories to work in conjunction with their S.L.I.C.K. and other spotting scope integration kits. The Badger K4 and K5 mounts are made to hold any 4000 or 5000 series Kestrel weather meter to the 3 or 9 o’clock position of a picatinny rail. The Kestrel simply snaps in and is held firmly until needed. Made from 2200 series Polyamide and colored Light coyote.

Lastly Badger has released the SPF-60 Spotter Protective Filter- 60 mm Designed to work with the Leupold 12-40X60 Spotting scope (M151) and the Badger Ordnance SLICK spotting scope mount (P/N 306-94). Provides rugged protection to the objective lens as well as allowing reduced light transmission and reducing glare via the variable aperture “Catseye” feature. Cover indexes out of the way for full light transmission or for NV/Thermal integrationPic. Made from 6061 Aluminum, Type lll Milspec Hard coat anodized.

SHOT Show 17 – Tektite Industries Mag-Pump

Monday, January 23rd, 2017

IMG_4362 - Copy

Tektite’s Mag-Pump is a magazine loader for STANAG M4/AR-15 magazines, capable of loading both .223/5.56 and .300 BLK rounds. The hopper holds up to 60 rounds at a time, and the internal mechanism of the loader auto orients the rounds as they’re loaded so they go correctly into the magazine. Additionally, the Mag-Pump is quick to take down, and easily fits into a .50 cal ammo can for storage and transport.

Unfortunately, the clear polymer model seen above exists purely for demonstration purposes, and isn’t for sale.

Redback One / Knight’s Armament Co – Aimpoint High Mount

Sunday, January 22nd, 2017

Here’s a sneak peak of Red Back One’s new high mount for the Aimpoint Micro, designed and developed by Jason Falla and manufactured by Knight’s Armament Company.

This is a list of features that drove the somewhat unique design of this mount:

1. It is ideal for maintaining a more natural head up shooting position which maximizes speed of sight acquisition and minimizes the effects of eye strain and sternocleidomastoid fatigue.
2. It allows increased performance when using CBRNE equipment and gas masks with the ability to adopt a natural cheek weld for shooting.
3. It is perfect when integrating passive targeting methods with night vision goggles when operating on modern battlefields.
4. It weighs significantly less when of other optics mounting systems due to its design and materials.
5. It will accept a magnifier or NVD behind the combat optic for longer range shooting and scanning.
6. Unlike legacy systems RBO’s mount will allow the end user to utilize the BUIS as a redundant system without the need to remove the mount.

SHOT Show – Grey Ghost Gear

Friday, January 20th, 2017

The Super Dave GT Sling from Grey Ghost Gear is wicked light at 2.2 oz. It’s also swoopy, what with the laser cut holes to cut the air while you bring your gun to bear. Additionally, they’ve incorporated Velcro in order to accept nametags or your favorite moral patch.

Available now in Blaxk and Coyote. Also available without the aerodynamic laser cut holes for you squares who don’t want to look cool. In case you can’t tell, I like the version with the holes.

SHOT Show 17 – TNVC/Unity Tactical TAPS Update

Wednesday, January 18th, 2017

During Range Day we mentioned the production version of the Tactical Augmented Pressure Switch. To clarify, there are two variants and externally both look the same because they have the same basic functionality.

The TAPS mounts to M-Lok, KeyMod and Pic rail and includes 7″ SureFire/Insight or 7″ Insight/Insight leads. Once again, it requires a 2032 battery for constant on, but even without it, momentary still works. The only difference from the base model and the TAPSpro is that the pro model is programmable. Consequently, there’s a difference in price. The TAPS is $139 and TAPSpro is $239. Considering other switches are more expensive (and not programmable) that’s not a bad price. Plus, TAPS is 100% Made in USA. Additionally, the switches are available in FDE and Black.

These have been manufactured. The products will be loaded on the website and begin shipping next week.

I hope this answers any questions that have come up.
