SHOT Show 17 – TNVC/Unity Tactical TAPS Update

Wednesday, January 18th, 2017

During Range Day we mentioned the production version of the Tactical Augmented Pressure Switch. To clarify, there are two variants and externally both look the same because they have the same basic functionality.

The TAPS mounts to M-Lok, KeyMod and Pic rail and includes 7″ SureFire/Insight or 7″ Insight/Insight leads. Once again, it requires a 2032 battery for constant on, but even without it, momentary still works. The only difference from the base model and the TAPSpro is that the pro model is programmable. Consequently, there’s a difference in price. The TAPS is $139 and TAPSpro is $239. Considering other switches are more expensive (and not programmable) that’s not a bad price. Plus, TAPS is 100% Made in USA. Additionally, the switches are available in FDE and Black.

These have been manufactured. The products will be loaded on the website and begin shipping next week.

I hope this answers any questions that have come up.

FirstSpear Range Day 17 – TNVC TAPS

Monday, January 16th, 2017

TNVC has made it happen! The Tactical Applications Pressure Switch (TAPS) from Unity Tactical has made the transition from low rate to full production.

It mounts directly to a Mil STD 1913 rail and its two pressure pads are user programmable to slaved or individual modes so you can control both light and laser from a single pad. You can control momentary or constant with the switch.

One lead works with SureFire lights while the other interfaces with Steiner or Insight lasers. It requires a single CR-2032 battery but will still offer momentary On with a dead or no battery.

BLACKHAWK! Announces New Products for 2017

Friday, January 13th, 2017

OVERLAND PARK, Kansas (January 12, 2017) – BLACKHAWK!, an industry leader in tactical products, will launch several new products to dealers at booth 14551 at the 2017 Shooting Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in Las Vegas, January 17 to 20.

The new BLACKHAWK! AR-15 No-latch Ambi Charging Handle is a drop-in upgrade to any AR-15. The handle is automatically held to the receiver with a leaf spring, eliminating the need to squeeze a small latch to charge the rifle. The innovative design gives full ambidexterious control, which is welcome news for left-handed shooters. The distinctive over-molded handle provides a larger pull point from both sides, easily clearing low-set optics.

Pistol-grip shotguns are renowned for their ease of handling and manipulation, though running rounds through them can take a physical toll. The BLACKHAWK! Knoxx BreachersGrip Gen III mitigates the wear-and-tear with a patent-pending recoil reduction system that mitigates kickback from the heavy loads. The ergonomic design allows the user to comfortably control the shotgun in every scenario.

The new Knoxx AR Pistol Grip improves shooting accuracy and precision with the ability to manipulate the firearm. Offering premium comfort and stability for the AR platform, the improved grip angle and palm swell offer an intuitive fit, and the grip is further improved by the textured surface.

Two new apparel items will also be added to the Spring 2017 BLACKHAWK! line-up. The Convoy ¼ Zip Shirt, and the Stretch Shield Pant. The new BLACKHAWK! Convoy ¼ Zip Shirt is made from a knit fabric and stretch cover stitching to allow for excellent range of motion. The,two-tone mélange pattern helps to minimize imprinting of a weapon and a Teflon Shield+ coating repels stains, oil and water. Chest and sleeve pockets allow for everyday item storage. The new BLACKHAWK! Stretch Shield pant features mechanical stretch rip stop fabric and articulated knees, and delivers maximum movement and flexibility. Teflon Shield+ protective coating and quick-dry capabilities keep this pant clean and comfortable. Bartacks and rivets at the seams reinforce high stress points, and strategically placed pockets allow for secure accessory storage.

Several new footwear items will also be available to dealers at SHOT. These items include two casual wear options, the Terrain Lo shoe and the Terrain mid boot. Both of these footwear options are ideal for both training and every day wear. Comfort and support are emphasized with these styles, which provide memory foam insole cushions and Agion antimicrobial lining to control odor.

Other boot options include:
-The BLACKHAWK! Defense, a military-grade boot that is AR 670-1 Compliant, includes a Vibram outsole for maximum traction and stability and an OrthoLite Insole to cushion the foot.
-The BLACKHAWK! Street is a versatile, comfortable boot with Lightweight 1000 Denier Padded Nylon to add reinforcement and extra stability.
-The Force boot features a HydroGuard + Breathe Right moisture wicking membrane that is both waterproof and breathable.

See WeaponLogic by Secubit USA at SHOT Show

Wednesday, January 11th, 2017

For many years the military has been seeking out a reliable means to accurately record the use of its small arms inventory in order to better manage its lifecycle. For instance, preventive maintenance becomes more effective as accurate understanding of how and when weapon components wear out and replacement parts are installed before the originals wear out. This keeps weapons in the fight longer and improves both accuracy and reliability. For many years, the proposed solution has been a round counter, installed on the weapon.

Some examples of recent requirements include:
NAVSOC RFI Released for combat evaluation which stems from an earlier, original RFI that was released from CRANE.
Red Dot sight contract from Crane listed shot counting technology as an objective requirement either by directly accessing the rounds from a button combination that displayed on the screen or a separate scanning device. A round count will help them to make a more educated decision on whether the optic is worth repairing or if it’s just old enough to replace.
-SURG Requirement listed shot counter as an objective requirement.

Secubit USA has been hard at work refining their WeaponLogic device. Although many refer to it as a shot counter, it answers these requirements, and much more.

WeaponLogic Attributes:
-Passive RFID capabilities
-360 Deg view of your weapon’s current state
-Smart analysis of shot profile including energy and duration
-Records shots fired, cadence of fire, shot duration and burst rate
-Provides information on rate of fire for ammunition checks
-Greatly reduces the amount of inspection and maintenance

As you can see, the Counter fits into a hollow in the pistol grip and also serves as an RF tag, giving the weapon a unique signature which can be interrogated via a reader. Collected data can then be parsed in a variety of ways for different applications. This also enhances sensitive material control by identifying the weapon, even when it is stored with others, via RF interrogation.

Additionally, WeaponLogic can be integrated into an automated arms room. Secubit is working on integration with Smart Track, a Williams Engineering product. Smart Track is a digital asset tracking and management system that uses Smartcards cards, PIN’s, Biometrics, IUID tags, RFID and 2D bar-coding to inventory, track, trace, account, maintain, issue and receive equipment for all critical and non-critical unit property. The system produces approved forms, providing an electronic copy of each and every system transaction.

WeaponLogic will be on display at SHOT Show in the ADS Inc booth, #20415. WeaponLogic is also available for Unit and Agency orders through ADS Inc.
