Lipsey’s Partners with Langdon Tactical on New Heckler & Koch USP Exclusive

Thursday, April 20th, 2023

Baton Rouge, LA —Lipsey’s, a nationally renowned firearms distributor, launched its latest exclusive, the Heckler & Koch (HK) USP with Langdon Tactical custom RDO optics cut and trigger enhancement package.

Lipsey’s newest exclusive arrives by way of collaboration between Lipsey’s Vice President and Product Development Manager, Jason Cloessner, and Langdon Tactical President, Ernest Langdon. A conversation began between the two regarding the admiration and popularity of the USP along with some of its challenges. Though iconic and notoriously durable, HK’s USP lacks one of today’s most sought-after features while its stock trigger has been known to be on the heavy side.

The Lipsey’s Exclusive model chambered in .45 ACP now features a slide cutout ready to take on a variety of today’s most popular red dot optics. The low-profile integral backup sight is built into the plate along with a custom front sight. The pistol also underwent Langdon’s trigger pull enhancement package which boasts a Gray Guns short reset trigger system that allows a lighter, smoother trigger pull. These new additions by Langdon Tactical bring this legacy platform into the modern era and place it firmly into the must-have category for anyone looking for power, precision, and reliability.

Lipsey’s Jason Cloessner on bringing this concept to the firearms community. “Being a fan of the HK USP, I have always wanted to do an exclusive project on the platform. When I heard Langdon Tactical was starting to customize HK pistols, I knew we had an opportunity to turn a legendary pistol into something really special ”

Ernest Langdon on this new HK venture and first collaboration on a Lipsey’s Exclusive. “We are excited to partner with Lipsey’s to bring LTT’s Custom HK USP 45 to customers. The USP is a legendarily accurate and reliable .45 caliber pistol with a loyal fan base. When Lipsey’s and HK asked us if we would be willing to take a look at it to see if we could give it some love, we were honored. The Langdon Tactical Trigger Job paired with our low RDO cut makes this a custom, smooth shooter with the updated capability to mount a red dot optic.”

Lipsey’s Exclusive HK USP .45 ACP is now available through Lipsey’s dealer network.

Celebrating 70 years, Lipsey’s was formed initially as a wholesale hunting and fishing distributor in 1953 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Today, Lipsey’s is one of the country’s largest independently owned firearms distributors, offering a complete catalog of firearms, NFA items, and accessories. The “AIM HIGHER” company mantra focuses on innovative product distribution and dedication to family and community. Lipsey’s industry-leading exclusive firearms and relationship commitment provide unmatched value to federally licensed dealers and top manufacturers

Bundeswehr Orders Upgrade of 143 Puma Infantry Fighting Vehicles

Wednesday, April 19th, 2023

Germany’s Federal Office for Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) has awarded Projekt System & Management GmbH (PSM), a joint venture of Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Rheinmetall, an order to retrofit a further 143 Puma infantry fighting vehicles. In doing so, the German government is exercising two options contained in the contract for retrofitting original Puma infantry fighting vehicles to the new S1 design status. This contract was signed in June 2021.

The order volume is in the region of €770 million. By 2029, the key capabilities of firepower and command and control of all 143 Puma systems will be brought up to date. Exercising these options assures that every Puma in the Bundeswehr inventory will conform to the uniform S1 design status. Among other things, the retrofit includes integration of high-resolution day- and night-capable camera systems, the MELLS multirole-capable lightweight guided missile system, and digital radio equipment.

Tuesday, April 18th, 2023

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Integrated Fires Mission Command Project Office, under Program Executive Office Missiles and Space, announced that the Army’s Integrated Battle Command System received a successful full rate production Defense Acquisition Board decision on April 10.

This major milestone for the Integrated Battle Command System, or IBCS, follows completion of initial operational test and evaluation, which concluded in October 2022.

“IBCS is the Army’s top air and missile defense modernization effort and the only Army acquisition category 1D program with the Defense Acquisition Executive, Dr. William LaPlante, as the milestone decision authority,” said Col. Chris Hill, project manager of the Integrated Fires Mission Command Project Office in Huntsville. “Navigating a successful [full rate production Defense Acquisition Board decision] is truly a monumental accomplishment for the collective team. Our Soldiers’ and civilians’ dedication, expertise and collaboration with industry and the stakeholder community has paved the way for a more effective and coordinated capability against complex air and missile threats that will serve our Army and joint force for decades to come.”

IBCS executed a diverse range of rigorous testing on its path to achieving FRP. Testing and evaluation proved the system’s capability to integrate a variety of sensors and effectors to work together under an integrated command and control system. IBCS is a key component of the Army’s broader modernization efforts and provides transformational air and missile defense capabilities.

“The Army is proving it can and will succeed with its modernization plans as we continue to build momentum for the future,” said Brig. Gen. Frank Lozano, Program Executive Officer, Missiles and Space. “The sensor and effector integration this program brings to air and missile defense will ensure that our warfighters are best equipped to provide air defense against enemy threats. The success of this program is a testament to the incredible talent and capability of the Soldiers, civilians and industry partners whose work ensures the safety and security of our nation.”
