NFM Group – EC Paint

June 19th, 2014

Norway-based NFM Group has come up with EC Paint, a weapon and equipment paint designed to fit both daylight and IR needs. EC paint dries in seconds, covering equipment with a smooth matte coating and no shiny spots. It is also durable and heat resistant without affecting the material structure, and can be used for covering plastics and textiles. NFM states that EC Paint is NVG compliant. This is pretty cool considering we’ve all been using krypton for years now and it wasn’t really designed for use on military equipment.

EC Paint is available in 8 colors: Grey, White, Black, Coyote Brown, Forest Green, Olive Drab, Mud Brown, and Sand. A dedicated stripper has also been developed for the paint, which they say provides easy and fast clean off. EC paint comes in 400ml spray cans and a 5 liter container for vehicle application.

EC Paint has been selected by the British Army to respray all weapons systems for issue in Afghanistan. Hint-hint, US Army.

– Direct mount capability
– Cammed T-nut
– Optimized for metal and polymer manufacturing
– Recoil/impact mitigation lugs
– Intermediate spacing option
– Multi-directional mounting
– Backwards MOE compatibility

M-LOK is easy to manufacture, works in polymer and metal equally well, is incredibly strong, and requires no back side of mounting surface access.

5.11 Double Duty Responder Knife

June 19th, 2014

The Double Duty Responder Knife from 5.11 Tactical really pulls triple duty. It incorporates a 3.7″ combo edge main sheepsfoot blade, blunt tipped fully serrated cord cutter secondary blade and carbide-tipped glass breaker.

Both of the blades are crafted from AUS8 stainless steel and given a satin finish with the main blade at 3mm thick and the secondary at 1.8mm thick. With both of these blades deployed at opposing ends, the knife is 9.7” overall length. It includes a Torx wrench and replacement screws and is offered with Orange rubber-overmolded FRN handle scales for high visibility. There is also a three-position carry clip.

Be forewarned, folks have complained about the glass breaker tearing pants. This is a common occurrence with many knives that incorporate this feature. It’s about how and where you carry it.

NEW BERLIN, WI (June 18, 2014) – There’s an armed robber somewhere in Quincy, Mass. and it’s up to K-9 Blitz and Major Ken Ballinger of the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office to find him on this week’s episode of Saving Private K-9 airing exclusively on Sportsman Channel on Thursday, June 19 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT.

R. Lee Ermey, host of Saving Private K-9, tells the story of K-9 Blitz, his unwavering bravery and diligence in pursuit of a dangerous suspect. Finding the bank robber is a top priority. Blitz and Ballinger must work well together or risk losing their only chance at apprehending the man that is keeping nearly an entire city on lockdown.

“I think what I would like most folks to know, or all folks to know about Blitz and dogs like him both in police and military services, is not to judge them by what you see them do, but by what you don’t see them do,” said Ballinger. “Our dogs, for everything that they are to us at work, are that and more to us at home.”
