FirstSpear Unveils New Product Line at Warrior Expo

Monday, July 11th, 2011

Today, FirstSpear, a warfighter tactical equipment designer and manufacturer, has announced its line of 60 Enhanced Load Carriage Solutions and Personal Protective Equipment products. This debut line is the first complete portfolio of the company’s spectrum of Warfighter equipment, and is expected to be received with great customer interest.

FirstSpear designs are produced with direct input from the end user and by developers who take into account specific mission needs, resulting in innovative, capability-driven products. The FirstSpear production facility is located in Fenton, MO, and this new venture has lead to the creation of 50 local skilled manufacturing jobs with plans to continue this growth in the near term.

FirstSpear’s commitment to delivering solutions based on the user’s needs is demonstrated by the careful selection of materials and a deep understanding of the unique mission needs of American Warfighters. Like all items in the line, plate carrier platforms such as the Beat Up are lightweight and functional, reflecting input from professional users. Each technology is the result of over 30 years of product development experience by the FirstSpear Design Team and represents the next generation in mission-ready gear.

“By considering the entire system as a whole, we have designed a suite of products that work great alone, but together allow the user to achieve remarkable scalability, modularity and weight reduction,” said Jonathan Laplume, FirstSpear Vice President of Strategy. “With each new product release, FirstSpear will seek the input of the professional user to continue raising the bar in equipment comfort, accessibility and durability.”

“When we started this organization, we made a commitment to deliver the next generation in Personal Protective Equipment,” said Scott Carver, Founder and President of FirstSpear. “This launch is only the beginning. FirstSpear directly supports those who defend this country and we will continue on this path of innovation for years to come.”

ADS to Distribute Black Diamond Advanced Technology’s Modular Tactical System

Friday, July 1st, 2011

We just found out that ADS will now be distributing Black Diamond Advanced Technology’s Modular Tactical System (MTS).

We wrote about the MTS last month and think it is a fantastic offering. By integrating the computer system directly into your PPE, transition your attention from computer to real world is instantaneous. No more storing fragile fear before you can move out. In the sample pictured above, the MTS is integrated into a BAE RBAV used by SOCOM. The ADS partnership may very well result in additional integrations for this technology. Make sure you check out our previous article on the MTS if you are unfamiliar with it.

For those attending the Warrior Expo-East, Thursday, July 14 and Friday, July 15 in Virginia Beach, VA, you can see a demonstration of the MTS in booth #187.

Robots on the battlefield are becoming more and more prolific. And, while they aren’t about to replace us just yet, they can take on quite a few duties that keep humans out of harm’s way. One company that is leading the charge to develop more capable robot systems is iRobot.

iRobot will be on hand at Warrior Expo East to demonstrate their wares and Friday, 15 July, they will provide a presentation in their booth entitled, “Government & Industrial Robots: Robots that make a Difference”. HyperStealth FADESPAT

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

We are very excited to finally be able to tell you about HyperStealth’s FADESPATâ„¢. FADESPATâ„¢ stands for Field Applied Digital Environment Specific Patterns and is a Rapid Deployment Camouflage System which has been in use by specialized customers for almost 18 months.

Developed following a user requirement in January of 2010 by Guy Cramer, FADESPATâ„¢ allows the operator to customize the camouflage for his equipment based on the operating environment. Due to the sensitive nature of the technology, HyoerStealth will only disclose the exact technology to authorized clients. However, Guy Cramer assures us that the process is simple stating, “when you ask someone to do a new task in the field without supervision, the learning curve has to be kept to an absolute minimum.”

Recently, HyperStealth upscaled the technology, making it appropriate for vehicular use as well.

FADESPATâ„¢ is considered a companion product to the GHOSTEX technology instituted as a joint venture with ADS Inc last year. While FADESPATâ„¢ is great for on-the-fly customization of existing clothing and equipment, GHOSTEXâ„¢ relies on a more deliberate process that uses environmental factors to determine the best camouflage pattern for an area of operations. GHOSTEXâ„¢ results in purpose built uniforms printed specifically for the operations. Despite the requirement for printing, it doesn’t seem to slow them down. According to a release from HyperStealth, “Ghostex is currently printing 400-500 yards per month, this capacity will double in September/October and expected to quadruple in 2012 at a second location with more machines. 21 different patterns have been printed on these machines to date. Cramer has developed close to 10,000 patterns under worldwide copyright. Recently the speed of the Ghostex process was confirmed when an urgent request for 480 inches x 62 inches wide of four different camouflage prints on military specification fabric came in at 10 AM and by 2 PM the material was out the door arriving at 8 AM the next business day in Virginia Beach.

Hopefully we will see more of these programs at Warrior Expo East.

ADS Takes It to the Troops ADS

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

In addition to the East and West Warrior Expos ADS is known for their base level shows. However, this year they have done something completely new. Twice now ADS has taken their thing on the road and gone directly to the troops in Afghanistan.

First, with Operation Lombardi, ADS sponsored a get together in celebration of Super Bowl XLV. Then, over Memorial Day weekend ADS held their first Warrior Expo Afghanistan on Camp Vance, Bagram AFB. This two day vendor show was host to several hundred Soldiers, Airmen, Marines, and Navy. Both of these events were phenomenal for the vendors involved as they were able to interact directly with deployed forces.
