Developed for the Canadian Navy, Fellfab’s Crew Rest Mattress utilizes AirString Technology.
The structure is 90% air by volume and is formed by linear low density polyethylene polymers. It is 100% recyclable, won’t absorb water and meets flame (FAR 25.853), smoke (BSS 7238) and toxicity (BSS 7239) requirements.
This four inch thick mattress was tested to 500,000 compression cycles and only lost 1/4 inch of loft.
This is some pretty cool news from two great companies.
Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and Two Harbors, Minnesota – March 5, 2014 – Granite Gear has partnered with Canadian manufacturing and engineering company, FELLFAB®, to bring their cutting-edge tactical and outdoor gear to the Canadian market.
FELLFAB® President Eric Taylor and Granite Gear CEO Bryan Kinsley jointly announced the partnership, in which Granite Gear will grant FELLFAB® sole licensure to make, manufacture and sell their Load Carriage Systems in Canada. Granite Gear and FELLFAB® will combine technologies to jointly design and develop the Load Carriage Systems for use by the Canadian Military and other organizations in need of tactical gear.
As part of the agreement, FELLFAB® has been appointed the exclusive representative and dealer for Granite Gear tactical products in Canada. By combining FELLFAB®’s manufacturing scale, engineering excellence and project management expertise with Granite Gear’s award winning, cutting-edge excellence in design and construction of backpacks and tactical equipment, both companies believe that they can offer customers a highest quality, Canadian-made product that can continue to meet evolving tactical equipment needs.
Last week I stopped by SOFEX at Ft Bragg, North Carolina. While it remains a small, annual show in the Officers Club, I was pleased to see Integral Tactical still in attendance. They have long displayed their specialized clothing and shelters at this show.
Integral Designs was purchased from former owner Evan Jones by Fellfab early this year. I realized that although Integral has been around for ages, they are not well known. Many of their designs go back 20 years or more like the MK I Mountain Tent above and the Observer Shelter seen below. Both of these shelters feature, simple, straight forward designs. Additionally, Integral Tactical offers several shelter/tarp designs manufactured from ultralightweight 30D parachute Ripstop nylon, referred to as Sil fabric.
Several of the attendees at SOFEX also expressed interest in the Wind Shirt and Pants.
They are currently in talks with TLS vendors to introduce their line to a wider audience. While Integral Tactical is based at Fellfab’s headquarters in Ontario, Canada, Fellfab has manufacturing capacity here in the US to service Berry compliance, if needed.
This is pretty exciting news. FELLFAB is a well known supplier of soft goods to the military and transportation industry. They maintain manufacturing facilities in Canada as well as the US.
FELLFAB CEO Glen Fell and Integral Tactical President Evan Jones jointly announce that an agreement has been made by both companies for the acquisition of Integral Tactical by FELLFAB. FELLFAB will relocate Integral Tactical’s operation to its headquarters early 2013. By combining FELLFAB’s manufacturing scale, engineering excellence and project management expertise with Integral Tactical’s user driven, innovative approach to design and incorporation of new materials, the parties believe that they can offer their mutual customers a high quality Canadian made product to meet their evolving equipment needs, on a scale not previously possible.
Evan Jones sold Integral Designs to Rab about two-and-a-half years ago to concentrate on the tactical side. Evan is a Veteran of the South African Defence Force who emigrated to Canada and has always built no-nonsense clothing and equipment based on his experience.
