FirstSpear Friday Focus – Noveske Discreet Backpack

In this week’s FirstSpear Friday Focus we cover one of my favorite products, the Noveske Discreet Backpack. Developed in conjunction with Noveske Rifleworks, this discreet pack is camouflage for your carbine. Overall, the appearance belies the true intent of the bag.

The Noveske Discreet Backpack will accommodate an SBR, subgun or broken down rifle. It also integrates a large beavertail in the front of the pack for jackets and other items and offers daisy chain down both sides.

Additionally, they’ve ingeniously incorporated the Noveske cross design into the padding on the back.

The shoulder straps are padded for comfortable carry.

When you open it up, it’s got two straps to keep your gun in place.

Additionally, there’s a barrel muzzle shroud.

I’m a fan of the color combos used offered with this pack. You’ve got Black/Coyote/Ranger Green and Grey/Brown/Rust. I’ve also seen a Black/Red variant that is also mentioned in the video.

FirstSpear Friday Focus – New Medical Gear

Each Friday, SSD takes a look at another facet of FirstSpear’s ever-growing line of clothing and equipment. This week we’ll check out a few new medical items including a pack and two IFAKs.

Medical Trauma Assault Pack

The Medical Trauma Assault Pack (MTAP), Thin Profile features a large zippered pocket allowing access to the contents. It also integrates the bungee attachment points to secure odd sized items as well as three “tear out” pockets which can be tossed to others providing aid. An easily accessed grab handle will allow the pack to be hung in vehicles or airframes.

Ranger Med Pouch

Ranger Med Pouch is a two-piece design with the insert completely removable from its carrying component. The insert is secured in place with a stretch hook closure that will remain secure through parachute, fast-rope operations etc. A hook and loop attachment point on the insert allows for indication patch or IFF. Hooks to gear via FirstSpear’s MOLLE-compatible 6/9 attachment system.

Emergency Response Kit

The ERK is a low profile IFAK carrier made from softshell fabric that can be mounted to your gear so that the direction of pull is either up or down. A maritime resistant plastic snap provides additional security to the activation handle and when yanked, the insert (sold separately) is pulled free from the pouch.

FirstSpear Friday Focus – Get Your Head Right

This Friday we are going to focus on FirstSpear’s products that relate to helmets.

Helmet Cover

FirstSpear offers three different helmet cover models; for the ops-Core family of FAST helmets, there are versions made from both softshell material and hybrid mesh/softshell material as well as a hybrid model for the MICH/ACH. All offer Velcro for ID patches and protect the helmet from bumps and enhance camouflage. Available in a variety of colors.

Helmet Battery Pack

The FS Helmet Battery Pack serves dual duty as on-helmet battery storage as well as use as a counterweight. Made from softshell, it is Velcro backed in order to attach to a helmet cover. Offered in Black, Ranger Green,Coyote and MultiCam.

NVG Pocket

FirstSpear’s NVG Pocket is different because it carries your Binocular and Monocular NVGs with the mount attached. Plus, there’s room for batteries and other accessories. Available in Black, Ranger Green,Coyote and MultiCam with 6/9 or 6/12 attachment.

Eye Pro Field Case

This pouch is designed for use as a stand alone case for your eye pro but can also be attached to MOLLE platforms. The insert is custom cut to hold your second set of lenses and can be customized by FirstSpear for other fragile items like medicine vials, syringes etc. Offered in Black, Coyote, Ranger Green and MultiCam with 6/9 and 6/12 attachments.

Helmet Hut

The Helmet Hut is one of my favorite FirstSpear products. Helmets, ear pro, NVGs and accessories are expensive and this padded case is a great way to store and transport them. It features a U-shaped 3/4 opening zipper so you can get at your kit as well as internal storage pockets. Available in Black, Coyote, Khaki, Ranger Green and MultiCam.

FirstSpear/SKD Tactical – STT Plate Carrier

The Six Twelve Tubes (STT) Plate Carrier is the result of a collaboration between FirstSpear and SKD Tactical. It’s the first plate carrier to feature FirstSpear’s 6/12 and Tubes technology in the set price range.

The plate pockets are sized for most 10″ x 12″ commercial armor plates, in addition to Medium ESAPI/Ceradyne plates. The cummerbund is designed to accept PIG side armor inserts (6″ x 10″) as well as inserts up to 12″ in length. The STT also features loop Velcro strips on the front and back carriers for the integration of PIG AFC Pontoons for increased airflow and padding.

The STT Plate Carrier is available in Black, Coyote, Ranger Green, and MultiCam, exclusively through SKD Tactical.

FirstSpear Friday Focus – Arms Case

Offered in both Carbine and Long Gun lengths, the FirstSpear Arms Case is a modular carriage and storage solution for your weapons.

Boasting haul loops on either end as well as a wrap around handle, the Arms Case also offers an external storage pocket with a Velcro panel for removable identification markings.

The carbine length Arms Case is 36″ and the long Gun variant is 43″. As you can see, the interior features 6/12 slots and the weapon tiedowns can be configured to accommodate a variety of weapons. Both will accept scoped weapons with standard 20 or 30 round magazines attached as well as a removable 6/12 Organizer Panel which allows you to configure the interior how you see fit. It attaches to the interior of the Arms Case via “G” Hooks and when removed, can be hung on a hook, nail or door knob while you reconfigure your kit. But for the Arms Case, modularity goes beyond just setting the interior up. In addition to managing your internal configuration, you can also integrate the entire Arms Case into many hard cases as a padded weapon insert in order to consolidate your gear and protect it for long haul transportation.

The Arms Case closes with a 3/4 zipper that allows you to open it flat.

Additionally, it accepts an optional shoulder strap for ease of carry.

FirstSpear Friday Focus – Belt Systems

This week, we are looking at Belt Systems. Specifically, FirstSpear offers a line of Belt Systems with components that can be used in conjunction with one another. In some cases they canb also be used as stand alones or to augment gear already in your kit bag. The items include the Assaulters Gun Belt (AGB), Padded AGB Sleeve, Tactical Suspenders, as well as the Line One Belt and 6/9 BeltLink.

Assaulters Gun Belt

The AGB utilizes a two-piece metallic buckle, it’s a strong belt that will stand up to daily use as well as combat equipped buddy drags. It can be integrated to the OAGRE for additional equipment space and also accommodate many different FirstSpear components that will help optimize it for the full spectrum of tactical and discretionary operations. Padded AGB Sleeve

The Padded AGB Sleeve fits over the AGB or similar gun belt to provide support, comfortable padding and additional load-bearing capability; compatible with standard MOLLE-style pouches as well as FirstSpear’s 6/9 and 6/12 pouch line. D-Rings included to attach to multiple suspension system harnesses.

Low Profile Tactical Suspenders

These Tactical Suspenders are designed to support the additional weight of a loaded up Padded AGB Sleeve 6/12, particularly when ballistic inserts or multiple pockets are attached. Fully adjustable and low profile, they won’t get in the way of your armor.

Line One Belt

You wear pants everyday right? So how about a belt that you can wear with a pair of blue jeans just as easily as with your combat pants? That’s where the Line One Belt comes in. Made from BioThane, a Urethane covered Nylon offering superior strength and weather-resistance; it won’t crack, peel, or become stiff in frigid temperatures. Specially tempered, non-slip coating eliminates “break-in” time and allows for flex like leather, yet it is impervious to sweat and water and will not stretch or lose its original shape. FS 6/9 BeltLink

The FS 6/9 BeltLink makes it simple to attach any of the popular 6/9 attachment-style FirstSpear pouches to an AGB or similar duty-style belt. Sold in sets of two. Simple, but effective.
