What’s a tradeshow without a contest?
This little gem is coolest thing I have seen all week. FirstSpear has been working for the past few months on a Mk32 Speedloader. As you can see, it takes six 40mm rounds, but, it also gives you added torque via the knob on the rear to wind the cylinders before putting the Mk32 into action. Its really going to streamline how quickly a gunner can get his launcher back into the fight. You insert the loader, twist to cock the cylinder, back it off to drop the rounds and your ready to rock. Every gunner should have four of these.
The advent of this Speed Loader means that only FirstSpear is offering a total accessory solution for the Mk32 40mm grenade launcher. Earlier this summer they introduced the Punisher Pack as well as the 6-pack for individual rounds. And, they’ve also completed a carrier for this new Speed Loader.
Now, we come to the contest part. FirstSpear wants your help in naming this bad boy. From now, until the close of Modern Day Marine on 27 Sep, 2012 give them your suggested name in the remarks section of THIS post on SSD. No other entries will be accepted.
The winner will be chosen by FirstSpear on Monday 1 October and the winner will be contacted via email so it’s imperative that you use your valid email address. You can use any alias you want but the email must be valid to win. Each post will be approved so don’t double tap it if it doesn’t show right up. In the event the winning name is suggested more than once, the first post will be he winner. Void where prohibited.
The winning name will receive an Exigent Circumstance Pack pack from FirstSpear so be prepared to give them an address in the event you win.
Be sure to stop by Renegade Armor’s booth #3340, at Modern Day Marine to check out the new Mk32 Speed Loader as well as Renegade’s and FirstSpear‘s line of armor and accessories.
FirstSpear has been working diligently to integrate flotation directly into their armor systems. An important factor in their work is that flotation be as unobtrusive as possible. Also, flotation isn’t the primary mission of the armor, but rather an additional survival capability for users who work in a maritime environment. They’ve done a great job and have provided us this video of the system in action. In this demonstration we see a flotation system that is an integral component of the cummerbund of a new Strandhögg Plate Carrier.
In the video there is an operator who has been forced to abandon ship or otherwise has found himself in the drink. In most instances he would be weighed down by his armor and equipment and if it weren’t for the FirstSpear flotation integrated into his armor’s cummerbund he would have to ditch his equipment or worse yet, he might drown. However, once activated the flotation brings him right to the surface. At this point, he will not only just survive, but can also stay in the fight by returning fire if needed.
This system isn’t intended as a set of waterwings for use by those who can’t swim but rather for use in emergency situations, just like the belt mounted flotation systems already in use by some SOF and parachutists. The difference is that this system is integrated directly into the armor vest so it’s not an extra piece of kit you have to don. Additionally, unlike belt or underarm systems, the FirstSpear flotation won’t get in the way of other equipment or be affected by it when activated. Think of it as an insurance policy. It’s always there when you need it.
The upcoming NBC reality show ‘Stars Earn Stripes’ pairs 8 stars with trainers from military and LE backgrounds. Each episode will be a separate mission and the participants will be outfitted with some excellent tactical brands. For example, in this promotional video you can see TCI headsets paired with Ops-Core FAST helmets and FirstSpear covers. What else can you identify?
Stars Earn Stripes debuts Monday August 13th after the Olympics on NBC.
For those of you unfamiliar with FirstSpear’s flotation cummerbund, here it is, during a recent demonstration.
FirstSpear Catalog – Summer 2012
This is the Summer 2012 catalog for FirstSpear. Not a whole lot of new products since several of these have trickled out over the past six months, but make sure you check out the Punisher pack for the Mk 32 MGL as well as the 3-Mag Ranger Shingles and Long Gun Mag Pouches with their innovative attachment system that is compatible with both 6/12 and MOLLE platforms.
And, if you’re in the area, be sure to check out the new products in person at Warrior Expo East Thursday and Friday.
