SPARTANAT – 20 Foot Firepower : The Patria NEMO Container System

Tuesday, February 28th, 2017

IMG_9900

It seems timid enough. It’s is small, black-orange and not dangerous? Completely wrong, if we talk about NEMO from Patria. We found it at IDEX 2017 in AbuDhabi. The state-of-the-art company PATRIA, with its innovative and unique mortar system NEMO, offered a much-respected and highly frequented exhibition space. This heavy mortar, 120 mm in diameter, is integrated into a completely self-contained container container and contains all the equipment required by a mortar unit for general daytime operation and fire fighting in one package. In addition to its own power supply and air-conditioning system, the armored container also includes an NBC filter system in its 20-foot standard EU standard. The basic armor offers ballistic protection against infantry, but can be supplemented by up to 10 mm thick steel cladding / ceramic plates for higher protection. The storage space offers space for up to 100 shells and thus provides a sustained firepower.

The main advantage of the NEMO container system lies in its simple and unique mobility. The flexible container system can adapt its firing position to the tactical situation within a very short time, regardless of whether it is mounted in static storage / object protection, as a moving mortar unit in the direct support of the advancing infantry or on a ship. The NEMO mortar tower can rotate 360Deg and with its -3Deg to + 85Deg pivot range all surfaces of min. 300 m to max. 9,000m with up to 10 grenades / min. This supporting firepower allows the infantry to react adequately “air” in critical situations to react to unexpected attacks.

Under the patronage of its Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, the more than 1,200 international suppliers of the defense industry at this year’s trade fair from 19 to 23 February, showed the latest technologies for the three-dimensional defense sector land, air, sea. IDEX 2017 was once again a unique platform to build and strengthen direct contacts and relationships with government agencies, army staffs and other companies. This year again more than 100,000 visitors were counted.

High-profile anti-drone technology boosts capabilities to help keep more men and women safe

Abu Dhabi, UAE — Feb. 17, 2017 — Sensofusion is announcing increased functionalities and in-demand service features for their premiere AIRFENCE drone countermeasure platform. This announcement is to come during the 2017 International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) in Abu Dhabi, UAE (Feb. 19 – 23).

Included in the AIREFENCE 4.0 platform is new radar system hardware, which boast a plethora of new tricks, including becoming a phased array radar or LTE cell tower. Additionally, AIRFENCE 4.0 is capable of time-of-flight triangulation and MIMO antenna setups. Of perhaps most importance to IDEX’s more than 100,000 attendees is AIRFENCE 4.0’s external detection capabilities, which empower the hardware to collect evidence immediately and transmit to fleet learning platforms. This allows for future detection of the rogue UAV.

“With these additional features, AIRFENCE builds on its reputation as being the best choice for protecting sensitive locations from rogue drones,” said Sensofusion Vice President of Operations Kaveh Mahdavi. “And we’re extremely excited to debut these features in front of IDEX 2017.”

Now in its 13th year, IDEX is the most strategically important defence exhibition in the world, featuring live demonstrations of new technologies; access to global leaders, policy and decision makers; and media coverage on a global scale. IDEX is the only international defence exhibition and conference in the Middle East and North African regions demonstrating the latest technology across land, sea and air sectors of defence. The conference provides a unique platform to establish and strengthen relationships with government departments, businesses and armed forces throughout the region.

Sensofusion’s AIRFENCE technology is in use at international airports in Europe, as well as military bases, high profile government building and VIPs. AIRFENCE is also used in securing prisons from individuals who want to smuggle contraband. AIRFENCE mobile is being deployed for various police and military applications. AIRFENCE will soon begin protecting other critical infrastructure including nuclear power plants, waste and water treatment centers, and energy-producing facilities such as electrical substations and solar farms.

Kestrel wide-area sensor makes first-time showing at IDEX

Thursday, February 16th, 2017

FAIRFAX, Va.— Feb. 6, 2017— Logos Technologies will be showcasing the upgraded, exportable Kestrel Block II wide-area motion imagery (WAMI) sensor at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX).

Designed for defense, public safety and humanitarian assistance missions, the Block II shares all the same capabilities as the original Kestrel system, which has been deployed with U.S. forces since 2011.

Each sensor, when mounted on an aerostat, creates a 440 Mpx mosaic image and can monitor an entire city-sized area at once, day and night, for weeks at a time. In addition, each WAMI system detects and simultaneously tracks all significant movers in real time, while also recording events for later forensic analysis.

Kestrel Block II mounted on an aerostat
“The key upgrade in Kestrel Block II,” says John Marion, president of Logos Technologies, “is that we have improved the operational reliability, while significantly reducing the weight, from 150 pounds [68 kg] to less than 85 [40 kg].”

This lighter weight allows the Block II to be paired up with a wider range of aerostats, sensors and communications equipment.

IDEX – Polaris Defense DAGOR Debuts Internationally

Wednesday, February 18th, 2015

We’ve mentioned the Polaris Defense DAGOR in the past. It’s gained a lot of interest here domestically and now it’s making its international debut.

Polaris was the first ATV manufacturer to supply militarized off-road vehicles to the U.S. Special Operations Command and the U.S. Army over 20 years ago. The extensive success of those vehicles in theater led to the introduction of a complete line of military-specific vehicles, including several successful contracts throughout the Middle East. Polaris Defense continues to work closely with the United States and Allied forces, with products operational in over 70 countries.

Throughout EMEA, the Polaris Defense family of ultra-light vehicles is aligned with the region’s broad, emerging ultra-light mobility needs. To meet light mobility requirements, Polaris Defense provides a family of ultra-light vehicles: the MV850 all-terrain vehicle (ATV), the MRZR lightweight tactical all-terrain vehicle (LTATV), and the DAGOR ultra-light combat vehicle (ULCV), which is making its international debut at IDEX. These vehicles all provide off road mobility at full payload, and with ease of transportability using tactical air assets.

With the ability to carry a nine-man infantry squad, DAGOR is Polaris’ largest offering in size and payload. DAGOR was designed for light infantry and special operations forces to be easily transported by tactical air and to carry its full 3,250 lbs of payload in extreme off-road terrain to be mission effective. DAGOR also is supported with a COTS supply chain making it easy to use and easy to maintain anywhere in the world.

Polaris Defense has been a leader supplying a family of ultra-light, off-road vehicles that are widely adopted within the U.S. military, and have been sold to more than 20 countries worldwide, including here in the Middle East. U.S. Special Forces also recognized and thanked Polaris in 2014 for the company’s rapid delivery and support of the Lightweight Tactical All-Terrain Vehicle (LTATV) contract with their MRZR platform. The USSOCOM contract and MRZR contracts here in the Middle East, include support of user evaluation and government testing, delivery of vehicles with tactical accessories, and providing training and sustainment parts.

At IDEX 2015, Polaris Defense is showcasing the MV850 ATV, MRZR LTATV, and DAGOR ULCV. With a robust global network of dealers, distributors, and subsidiaries, Polaris Defense provides full life-cycle support of these vehicles throughout the world.
