Kinetic Development Group – Moral Compass

Tuesday, October 11th, 2016

I’ve loved compasses since I was in Scouting as a kid. Sure enough, the guy at KDG who came up with this is also a former Scout. That’s probably why the Moral Compass from Kinetic Development Group struck a chord with me.

I carry a small, similar compass on my person, anytime I’m in the back country or more than an hour away from home. But, I think I’m going to replace it with this one and also get one for each of my sons, to remind them to always stay on the path.

A compass can only point you in the right direction, it can’t make you go there…

Some people already have a moral compass, others could certainly use one! For those that need one, KDG is happy to announce our new solid brass compass!

No one likes to feel lost in life, and at times it can be hard to keep your bearings. The KDG Moral Compass helps find direction. While it can’t replace that inner sense which distinguishes what is right from wrong, it will serve as a reminder to use good judgement. Built off of a traditional Marble’s® brass body compass, our Moral Compass shares the legacy of great men and adventures worldwide. Undaunted men such as Teddy Roosevelt carried similar compasses on remote expeditions, safaris, and big game hunts. Arctic Explorers Admiral Perry and Byrd often trusted a neck worn compass on treks to the North and South Pole. They have been carried by Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airman for decades all across the world. When you are in a tough spot, our Moral Compass will show you the way out!

Day or night, in the dark woods or a dimly lit nightclub, our Moral Compass with guide you. The brass construction and crisp lettering makes this a great present for your friends, family, and anyone you want to send a subtle message to that might have lost their way.

Kinetic Development Group Announces The Release Of The Scarging Handle

Friday, December 18th, 2015

FullSizeRender 53

Today, KDG launches their new Scarging Handle – SCAR ambidextrous charging handle. Designed by KDG’s Nathan Murr (A USMC veteran, and inventor of the GripStop), there was heavy input from operators in the field during the development process. The new design was focused on addressing the reported user complaints surrounding the factory FNH SCAR charging handle and its performance during hard use.

The Scarging Handle fits both 5.56 and 7.62 NATO versions of the SCAR, and installs in seconds. The radius-faced design, and swept geometry of the Scarging Handle allows the user to achieve a more solid grasp when manipulating the bolt. This allows for easier charging, clearing of stoppages, and administratively locking the firearm bolt to the rear. The shooter can choose between left or right side installation to match their hand dominance, and can rotate the Scarging Handle to either downward or upward sweep. The downward sweep protects the hand from “busted knuckles” due to optics mounts by keeping it down and away from the weapon’s top. This also has the added benefit of additional leverage gained, and increased grasping surface for larger hands or when wearing gloves. The Scarging handle can alternatively be installed with the curve upward, which provides the user a slick side receiver to prevent snagging or “SCAR Thumb” (i.e. having the reciprocating charging handle strike your hand when using a magwell hold or unconventional shooting method). All Scarging Handles are constructed of low carbon 1080 steel, and finished with a durable black, mil-spec finish. The accessory protrudes less distance from the receiver than the factory unit, and is profiled to be snag-resistant when wearing body armor or other gear.

MSRP is $49.00, and is available NOW on KDGs website and at their authorized dealers.

The New Trijicon MRO SIDELOK Mount From KDG

Thursday, December 17th, 2015

FullSizeRender 14

Kinetic Development Group is proud to introduce the latest addition to their SIDELOK family of mounts, the new Trijicon MRO mount. The SIDLOK is a revolutionary new mounting system for optics, introduced earlier this year. The patented cam system locks the mount down onto Picatinny rail without the need of tools, side levers, or huge knobs. The release system allows users to easily change out there optics on the fly with less hassle. The 2 levels of locks (MRO Mount) ensure the optic will not move unintentionally, maintaining zero for the shooter, and returning to absolute zero when remounting in same position after removal. This lightweight mount utilizes a lower 1/3 co-witness. In an exclusive partnership with Rainer Arms, the New MRO mount will be initially available at their website for a limited time.

Specifications:

  • Height (From top of Picatinny Rail): .88″
  • Width: 1.10″
  • Length: Base – 2.25″
  • Weight: 2.9 ounces (7.0 ounces total with optic attached)
  • Features: Lower 1/3 Co-witness

Kinetic Development Group – SIDELOK Aimpoint Micro Mount Now Available & Shipping

    Wednesday, November 4th, 2015

KDG expands their lineup of SIDELOK optic mounts with a new model for the popular Aimpoint micro red dot optics. Designed to fit Aimpoint T1, T2, H1 and H2 models, the mount will also fit other popular miniature red dots that share the same footprint. The Sidelok micro mount allows the user to achieve a lower 1/3 co-witness with flip up iron sights when mounted on the AR-15 or M4 carbine.  This lightweight, 2.7 ounce Aluminum mount uses KDG’s Sidelok (pat. Pending) cam lock system to attach to picatinny rails instantly. With no tools needed to attach the mount, the user simply rocks their setup onto the chosen mounting space, and down onto the rail. Once pressed down, the Micro Mount self locks, and the optic can be zeroed in the usual fashion. Removal is equally fast, and can be accomplished with one hand even while wearing gloves. The front-located release button has a smaller, recessed secondary lock, which must be deliberately pressed in to facilitate removal; similar to the way a Glock trigger safety works. Do to its’ design, it is virtually impossible to accidentally engage the release, and the cam lock system ensures a secure grasp on various sized (and some out of spec) picatinny rails. This equates to a fast, easy means of removing and attaching optics while retaining an absolute return to zero. The smooth sides of the mount prevent snagging and “Busted Knuckle Syndrome”, while the unique skeletonized riser reduces the overall weight of the mount.

KDG plans to continue releasing more Sidelok models for other common optics, including one for the recently released Trijicon MRO. The new Aimpoint Micro Mount is currently available on their website and at their authorized dealers and distributors. MSRP for the mount is $139.00. For more information visit the links below.

Kinetic Development Group Shipping New Universal Offset Mount For MLOK

    Wednesday, October 14th, 2015

    Kinetic Development Group - MLOK

Kinetic Development Group shipping New Universal Offset Mount for MLOK

    UOS #1

A few months ago Kinetic Development Group debuted their unique patent pending quick-detach system “Kinect” here on Soldier Systems for the popular Magpul M-LOK system. Using two spring-loaded, self-adjusting wedges, Kinect inserts into the MLOK slot of a forearm. Pressing the mount into the MLOK slot, Kinect uses automatic triggers that securely lock your accessory into the rail with a “click” and without tools. The only thing faster is how the accessory removes, which can be quickly accomplished with one hand and no tools. The new system has caught the interest of many shooters embracing Magpul’s M-LOK system, which currently has over one hundred manufacturers creating compatible accessories and forearms. With M-LOK’s popularity growing and becoming more widespread, KDG continues to create new mounting solutions to match demand. Given MLOK’s growing popularity, even the US military is looking at the MLOK technology to replace the aged, cheese grater style picatinny quad rail.

    UOS #2

The new Universal Offset Mount is a small, lightweight billet aluminum mount that also uses the patent pending Kinect and MLOK technology. The mount features three slots of Picatinny rail set at a 45° offset from it’s mounting base and will accommodate nearly every popular weapon light currently on the market. It also features a recessed Surefire mount footprint allowing the attachment of a scout light directly to the mount with two screws. The Universal Offset Mount is compatible with any rail-grabber mount for Picatinny rails. Some examples of compatible light accessories are Streamlight, Surefire, and Inforce. The rail will also accept 1” scope rings for Picatinny or Weaver, for those that prefer to use a simple handheld flashlight as a weapon mounted light. The Kinect Universal Offset mount is designed to fit all M-LOK forearms built to Magpul’s required specifications.

This may seem like a small improvement to your carbine, but the ability to configure your carbine in seconds, swap accessories between multiple carbines, or use your weapon light handheld, then transition back to a dedicated weapon light is a capability that did not exist prior to Kinect or MLOK.

The Universal Offset Mount can be used for a variety of alternative applications as well, such as mounting a mini red dot optic. The Universal Offset Mount is shipping to authorized Kinetic Development Group dealers, and alternatively is available on the KDG website now!

Kinetic Development Group – Meet The Kinetic System And MREX-AR Rail

    Monday, June 8th, 2015

    image001

When Kinetic Development Group launched as a company, it appeared they were a “SCAR” accessory company. Kinetic Development Group is a Firearms & Accessory solutions company. There is no limit to what they can and will do.

There has been some question why KDG has been so dedicated to the MLOK™ system manufacturing the MREX™ for the SCAR instead of Key-Mod. Today they are announcing both MREX-AR™ rail solution in MLOK™, and the revolutionary Kinect™ system for MLOK™. In a world of a thousand rails, that news may not be exciting, but revealing why they fervently supported MLOK™ from the beginning is very exciting; Kinect™ for MLOK™.

    KDG

Kinect™ is a family of products that allow you to securely attach your accessories or picatinny rail sections to any MLOK™ system without tools. Press the accessory or rail section to the MLOK™ slot where you want it and “Click”, it is securely fastened. This patent pending technology is the card KDG has kept tucked up their sleeve while they built MLOK™ rails for the SCAR and now the AR. It literally takes less that a second to install or remove an accessory, yet the mount is so strong a grown man can do pull-ups on a single attachment point. For reference the 3 Slot picatinny Kinect™ Section can handle approx. 180 lbs. of force. See video.

I saw this setup at SHOT Show and it impressed me even more than the Sidelok Optic Mount.  It makes using MLOK even simpler.

    KDG

Although revolutionary, Kinect™ is quite simple in its operation. There are two spring-loaded wedges in the base of the Kinect™ mounting point. When you press the accessory or rail section down in the MLOK™ slot, two tiny deployment triggers get pressed against the rail firing the wedges into place.

There is nothing more frustrating that fiddling with an allen wrench (if you can find it) to get your accessories on an off your weapon with traditional modular rail sections. This changes the whole dynamic of the MLOK™ system and really makes every accessory truly removable with the ability to mount it in a second when needed.

There is not a whole lot that needs to be explained or left to the imagination about the Kinect™ system. It will be plain to you once you see it or try it to know this is not a gadget, or gimmick but a huge step forward in how we utilize our modular firearms. Much like the Sidelok™ for Picatinny attachment KDG launched on Soldier Systems, Kinect™ insures proper and easy installation, eliminating common variables that would cause issues. (ie: over tightening)

KDG wanted to launch the MREX-AR™ rail and Kinect™ to the public at the same time to demonstrate they are true finding solutions to making open architecture firearms like the AR much better. At first glance it may look similar to everything out there, but like the MREX™, there was purpose in its design. Being both the developer of the rail system, and the Kinect™ accessory line gives KDG a huge advantage.

It lets them develop accessory mounts that can for instance bring a Surefire light so tight into the rail space, its like it is integral. (Pictured Above)

    MREX-AR PHOTO #3

KDG also put MLOK™ slots on a 45-degree angle at the 10 and 2 o’clock positions on the rail. Now imagine an Aimpoint Micro or an RMR mounted tightly into the back of the rail offset at 45 degrees so you can transition to CQB using the dot and maintain your magnified optic. (Pictured Above)

    KDG

The MREX-AR™ is ergonomically set up to be more like a hand-guard (like the FAL or G3) instead of a tube. The profile allows the user a very comfortable C-Grip on the weapon, and allows those accessories to be mounted as though they are integral to the weapon. The flat bottom of the rail system is ideal for shooting off of support.

By launching the MREX-AR™ rail and Kinect™ at the same time, KDG has demonstrated they are truly finding solutions to making open architecture firearms like the AR much better.

The first Kinect™ Pieces to become available will be launching this summer along side the MREX-AR™ rail. KDG intends to make available a wide arrange of Kinect™ pieces including 3 slot picatinny section, Harris bipod adapter, 7 slot picatinny section, offset surefire mounts, Aimpoint micro mounts, and many more to come.
