Sniper Camo from MMI

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Last year we told you that MMI was developing a whole slew of products for the sniper and the new DEPSOC360 camo is their latest project.

By MMI’s own admission, it is not a universal pattern by any means and this variant was tuned for the Georgia Pine Forest (Fort Benning area), but the video was shot in northern California so you will notice that the greens don’t match up. The concept was predicated on the distance at which Snipers operate from enemy forces. Most current patterns are very tight whereas this is a large pattern with 3D effect (the shadowing under the slashes) so that it breaks up the image at range.

Thee have a utility patent (pending) on the 360 degree graphic capability. The graphic goes in a smooth and unbroken line from foot to head which prevents the eye from having anything to fixate on. They do realize that they still need some work on the hat due to the seams but they are working on it. Available soon from www.mmi-fed.com.

Triton Softshell from Unleashed Tactical

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

UK Based Unleashed Tactical Equipment has released images and information to us on their new Triton Softshell. It’s by design that you haven’t heard of Unleashed Tactical until now. They have been providing very high end products to a select customer base for some time and felt it was finally the right time to come out into the open. They will continue to maintain a selective client list but felt that our website was a good venue to introduce them to more of the right kind of customer.

Unleashed Tactical Equipment out of the UK has just completed their 2010 product collection. Developed specifically for law enforcement, military and security specialists, the range encompasses overt and covert tasks.

Unleashed Tactical Triton Softshell

The Triton Softshell is a mid-layer jacket available in hooded and mandarin collar variants. Both garments use a windproof and highly breathable four way stretch Schoeller® textile. The outer face of the garment is finished with the same company’s nanoSpere® durable water repellent finish. The inside features a micro fleece lining for warmth. The cut of the garment is athletic and maximizes the stretch properties of the material, following the Unleashed philosophy of Body Proximity Comfort™.

Speaking of comfort, the four pockets on the jacket feature HyperVentilationâ„¢ pocket liners. The liners allow direct venting of humidity when open, increasing comfort during times of high physiological burden. The sleeves of the jacket are also slightly longer than normal to offer some hand protection where gloves are not an option. The jacket is finished with water resistant YKK zippers and shock cord waist adjustment.

Spain to Adopt New Camo

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Everyone’s doing it, adopting new camo patterns that is. Two new patterns are on their way for the Spanish Army, a Woodland Digital pattern named “Spectrum64K” (seen below) and a Desert/Urban variant purported to look almost identical to UCP. The cut of both versions is almost identical to the ACU.

The ironic thing in all of this is that as soon as the patterns were released by the Army, Spanish troops preparing to deploy to Afghanistan started to run out and purchase MultiCam and US MARPAT uniforms.
