How Did I Not Have One Of These?

Friday, March 15th, 2013

The reason I never had one of these Entertech water guns is because I was already in the Army by the time they came out. But, if they had them now, I’d get the RPG.

Thanks Tyler!

Be Prepared, Indeed

Two things we are fans of at SSD are guns and Scouts. It’s even better when we can put the two together like in this story.

A young man who just became an Eagle Scout received this rifle as a gift from his father. Best of all, “in front of everyone, the first thing he did was to open the bolt and clear the rifle before really looking it over. He had a smile from ear to ear.” his father stated. According to Cerakote, this carbine features H-226 Patriot Brown, H-235 Coyote Tan and H-199 Desert Sand.

MagPul Dynamics Updates Ammo Status for Classes

Thursday, March 14th, 2013

MagPul Dynamics issues this update on ammunition or their classes.

Class Ammo Now Available!

Apologies for the delay, but we are now ready to get this program rolling. We’ve had some hiccups on the pistol ammo side, but by working with various manufacturers and vendors, we are ready to go. Prices are not as low as we’d like them to be, but if our costs go down, we will announce price adjustments to pass the savings on.

For Carbine classes, we will have Magtech 5.56 which may be M193 or 62gr (no penetrator) ball, depending on availability. Price will be $380 per 1000 rounds. You may purchase up to 1200 rounds for the class, but not more, and each additional 100 rounds will be $38.00. You can probably get by with 1000.

Handgun ammo for Carbine students will be available in 100 round increments up to 200 rounds max. Right now, all we have is 9mm, at $27.50 per 100 rounds. 100 rounds will probably get you by for the class. 200 preferred for Carbine 2.

For Handgun students, we will have Magtech or Fiocchi 115gr ball ammo. Price for either will be $275 per 1000 rounds. You may purhase in 100 round increments up to 1200 rounds per class, with each additional 100 rounds costing $27.50. 1000 will probably get you through, but the extra 200 rounds won’t hurt, either.

Once again, if you order ammo, and then cancel your class slot, you will be refunded the amount of the ammo, and will not be afforded the option to take the ammo. If the ammo has been shipped to the class location (approx 10 days before class date), the cost of shipping the ammo (both ways) will be withheld from any refund.

Now…get on the web or on the phone and reserve those class seats, with ammo package!

Caveat Emptor – Knockoff Fusion Mounts

Thursday, March 14th, 2013

20130314-130523.jpg

We received this message from our friends at UnityTactical, manufacturers of the modular multipurpose FUSION mount system alerting us to knockoffs that have been showing up on the market. We know where to find them but we won’t share that info here so that we don’t give the counterfeiters any extra business. We will tell you that they are marketing these fake mounts as FUSION. Sufficed to say, we do not support this type of behavior and want to alert our readers so that you don’t fall prey to someone a deal that is too good to be true.

It has come to our Attention that there are knockoff FUSION system mounts being produced and sold overseas. To ensure you are purchasing an authentic 100% made in the USA FUSION mount please order directly from us at www.UnityTactical.com or from one of our excellent dealers. (TNVC, OP Tactical, ROG Tactical, Austere Provisions, or Legion Firearms). We will be updating our dealer page with some new information.

All of UnityTactical’s retailers are great companies and deserve your support.

How Much Will Fit in an Arc’teryx Covert Case C/O? MRE Shows Us

Thursday, March 14th, 2013

About 9 months ago, SSD showed you the first images of a new family of travel luggage from Arc’teryx. Now, they are available for sale and the folks at Mission Ready Equipment decided to do an experiment with the carry on compatible Covert Case (that’s what the C/O stands for). They wanted to see how much they could fit in the bag. Considering the bag measures only 20″ x 12″ x 9″, it’s a lot.

They were also kind enough to share a trick with us. They added SOB Combat Bands to the zipper pulls. Not so sure about traveling on a plane with the .45 in the outer pocket though. Guess it depends on who you are. But for standard car travel that might be just the ticket.

The Covert Case C/O is available in Carbon Copy or Utility Green from www.missionreadyequipment.com.
