Thursday, April 18th, 2013

Founded in 2002, Canadian firm Panacis specializes in lithium ion batteries. They’ve just received ISO 9001:2008 certification.

“Our customers count on the guaranteed performance and reliability of our batteries,” said Steve Carkner, Founder and Chief Technology Officer. “Having certified processes in place minimizes risk and helps ensure that services and processes will not only maintain their proven levels of excellence but also continue to improve over the long term.”

ISO 9001:2008 is recognized by organizations worldwide as a quality management standard. Panacis’ management system has been independently audited and confirmed to be in conformity with this standard. The certification covers all processes related to the design, development, manufacture, and delivery of lithium ion battery products and services at Panacis’ headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario.

After the jump, take a look at the video. It shows the type of exposure you’ll get at this training. Considering the variety traumatic injuries that happen on an almost daily basis down range and what we saw earlier this week in Boston, you might want to consider attending this course. this is nothing to be taken lightly and a little stress inoculation is good for anyone who might face these circumstances.

Well Said Batman, Well Said

How about we leave it to the Army to announce their new camo?

But, then again, there’s nothing wrong with letting them know we’d like the announcement sooner rather than later. Sign the White House petition to have the Army release their camouflage findings. It only takes a minute.

Concealment Capability by LTC Eugene Wallace

Thursday, April 18th, 2013

This is an excellent, concise article by LTC Eugene Wallace of PM SCIE at PEO SOldier regarding the Camouflage Improvement Effort. It was published last October in Army AL&T Magazine. At the time of the writing they expected to record about 100,000 data points but as I understand it they overshot this a bit and are upwards of 120,000. That’s a lot of numbers to crunch and a lot of data to interpret.

FirstSpear – Tactical Patrolling Harness

Thursday, April 18th, 2013

The FirstSpear Tactical Patrolling Harness features FirstSpear technology as well as a Tubes front opening.

FS Tactical patrolling harness 6-12 with tube entry

The design is reminiscent of other MOLLE-style patrolling harnesses with integrated belts, a design that is an extraction of Israeli Ephod-style harnesses that were later adapted to a maritime role in the late 80s here in the US. Overtime they have transitioned from fixed pouches, to ALICE compatibility and finally to PALS. This harness is the next step. It’s made from entirely new materials and not only accepts FirstSpear’s 6/12 family of pouches but also their 6/9 as well as any MOLLE compatible pouch meaning it is a great way to upgrade your harness without having to purchase an entirely new suite of pouches. Additionally, the front opening relies on the Tubes buckle which is easily manipulated with one hand.

The Tactical Patrolling Harness incorporates padded shoulder straps, a drag handle and metal adjustment buckles at the rear. Available in Small/Medium and Large/Extra Large in Black, Coyote, MultiCam and Ranger Green.
