KCRF Patches

We received another batch of the ‘Keep Cam and Return Fire’ patches we gave away during SHOT Show. There are more than you see here but by no means an infinite supply. These aren’t for sale and we are trying to come up with a contest to give a bunch away. Any ideas?

Black Diamond Advanced Technology Introduces Next Generation Modular Tactical System

Monday, February 4th, 2013

MTSBlack Diamond Advanced Technology based in Tempe, AZ has introduced its next generation Modular Tactical System (MTS), a wearable multi-mission computer unit that controls peripherals on a central display. The new unit has double the processing speed and is four times faster displaying 3D operational graphics that its predecessor.

The MTS is primarily used by US and Allied SOF for a variety of missions including precision targeting, C4ISR, SA, EOD and UAS/UGV control. The MTS has been fielded in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) since 2010 as a TRL-9 solution.

“The TMC Dual-Core improvements are being offered to help future-proof the MTS kit for our customers,” said Norman Lange, director of product development at Black Diamond.

The MTS Tactical Mission Controller (TMC), which is the heart of the MTS kit and houses a computer, power management system and embedded radio interface electronics, now employs a dual-core Intel processor. The TMC Dual-Core provides a more than two times faster processor and more than four times faster 3D graphics engine—all for the same size and weight while maintaining backward compatibility with fielded MTS accessories and cables. The dual-core processor also provides the ability for simultaneous dual-video output and support for new radios, as well as other feature improvements. The MOLLE-compatible TMC is worn on the back of the tactical vest or can be configured in a pack or carry-bag.

What if a Bump Helmet and a Watch Cap Made a Baby?

Monday, February 4th, 2013

Why they’d make a Crasche hat. its designed for children and adults who should wear a helmet, but don’t.

The outer cap is 100% Acrylic which isn’t exactly the perfect material for tactical applications but it ought to get someone’s creative juices flowing. The key to the Crasche hat are the protective inserts which protect your head against impact. The outer layer of the inserts are composed of an extremely strong polycarbonate plastic, the same material used to make bulletproof glass. The inner layers are composed of neoprene rubber, the same skin friendly material used in making wet suits. The inner layer of neoprene rubber has trapped air in the rubber itself, and the larger air chambers. These air chambers help cushion the impact, and help spread the force of the impact over the entire protective insert.

Federal Court Affirms Hydrapak Victory Over Source Vagabond

Monday, February 4th, 2013

Hydrapak issued this press release regarding the United States Federal Appellate Court affirmation of the dismissal of a law suit brought by Source Vagabond in 2011 alleging patent infringement by Hydrapak.

Hydrapak, a leading global supplier of active-lifestyle hydration equipment, announced that the United States Federal Appellate Court affirmed its victory over Source Vagabond Systems in a 2011 patent-infringement lawsuit.

In a one-word ruling, the court “affirmed” the decision made in April 2012 by the U.S. District Court Judge Colleen McMahon, which dismissed Source Vagabond’s claims of patent infringement.

In a related decision, the Hon. Judge James L. Cott recommended a sanction amount of $187,000 in the favor of Hydrapak for the frivolous filing of the lower court case. This recommendation now goes to Judge McMahon for her ruling.

“Once again, the courts have validated the integrity of our work,” said Matt Lyon, President of Hydrapak. “We are thrilled to move forward from this chapter and continue to create superior hydration systems.”

Hydrapak, which has steadily gained market share in the military, industrial and law enforcement categories, recently announced two separate partnerships with top military designer and manufacturer, London Bridge Trading, and leading distributor and U.S. Prime Vendor Source One Distributors.

“By mirroring our successful recreation business model of partnering with industry and worldwide brands, Hydrapak continues to gain market share in the hydration category on the Military, LE and Industrial fronts,” Lyon added.

Source Vagabond’s 2011 lawsuit contended that the top closure system used in Hydrapak’s Reversible Reservoir II infringed upon Source Vagabond’s patent.

Even before the suit was dismissed last April, Hydrapak was awarded its own patent on its unique and novel closure method – a tacit acknowledgment of the company’s pioneering design and intellectual property.
