Angstadt Arms Introduces SCW-9 Sub Compact Weapon

Wednesday, November 14th, 2018

Awarded Prototype OTA by U.S. Army Sub Compact Weapon Program
Charlotte, NC, (November 14, 2018) Angstadt Arms is proud to introduce the SCW-9 Sub Compact Weapon. The SCW-9 was designed to meet the strict requirements of the U.S. Army Sub Compact Weapon program. At just 14.7” long and 4 lbs., the SCW- 9 provides greater lethality than pistols and much greater concealability over standard rifles. With a rate of fire of 1,110 rounds per minute, the SCW-9 is capable of accurately engaging threats with a high volume of lethal force.

SCW-9 Key Design Elements
• Fully ambidextrous controls, including magazine release, safety selector, charging handle and bolt catch and release
• Accepts GLOCK® 9mm magazines
• 4” barrel with 3-lug adapter for sound suppression
• Ability to fire UTM marking and training rounds
• Overall length collapsed: 14.7”
• Collapsed stock length: 2.5”
• Weight: 4 lbs
• Rate of Fire (approximate): 1,100 rounds per minute

The Shortest Sub Compact Stock System

In addition to 9mm, the shortened stock system developed for the SCW-9 has been tested in both 5.56 NATO and .300 AAC Blackout calibers. This allows any M4 style rifle to reduce its overall collapsed stock length from 7” to just 2.5”. Making it the shortest telescoping AR-15 stock system available.

Angstadt Arms has plans to offer the shortened stock system to other manufacturers who wish to incorporate it into their firearms. A pistol brace version of the shortened stock system is currently in development for the U.S. commercial market.

Now Shipping – M-RAX Attachment System from Maxim Defense

Wednesday, November 14th, 2018

For immediate release – St. Cloud, MN – Maxim Defense today announced that it has begun shipping its newly designed M-RAX™ attachment system. With the M-RAX attachment system, installation and removal of Picatinny M-Slot Rail Sections is a breeze. Thanks to its spring-loaded screws, the M-RAX™ system removes mounting frustrations and protects from screws protruding beyond traditional M-Slot mounting systems. Merely push the screw in with a standard hex tool and rotate 90 degrees. The locking lugs engage that easily. Gone are the days of fighting with screws, aligning nuts dealing with messy liquid adhesives to create friction. Just push, turn, and tighten down for a secure mounting surface.

Unlike the traditional M-Slot mounting systems, M-RAX™ utilizes the full slot of your rail, ultimately maximizing valuable handguard space. This makes the M-RAX™ system end-to-end stackable, giving you the option to create seamless monolithic rail sections where needed.

The Patent Pending spring-loaded universal interface system eliminates the need to adjust the gap between the T-Nut and accessory to match the thickness of the mounting surface. Just use the supplied hex key (our your own 3/26” key) to push the spring-loaded hardware through the M-slot, twist 90 degrees to engage, release tension and then tighten normally.

M-RAX™ Picatinny Rail Sections are available in both Black and FDE with the following configurations.

Length/weight:
2 • M-Slot (3.145”) / 1.54oz
3 • M-Slot (4.720”) / 2.31oz
4 • M-Slot (6.295”) / 3.09oz
5 • M-Slot (7.870”) / 3.87oz
6 • M-Slot (9.445”) / 4.62oz

The M-RAX™ attachment system is available for licensing and sold throughout Maxim’s dealer network.

Baker Mayfield is Dangerous with Wild Things Knuckle Roaster FR

Wednesday, November 14th, 2018

Cleveland’s candidate for NFL’s ‘Rookie of the Week’ told press he “woke up feeling pretty dangerous” for Sunday’s game against the Falcons. Maybe it had something to do with the Wild Things Knuckle Roaster he wore for the Veterans Day game?

Mayfield may have had an unfair advantage – Wild Things Knuckle Roasters carry an NSN, come in MultiCam, and are even FR. Despite the cold temps, Mayfield’s hot hands led the Browns to a 28-16 victory.

Industrial Fabrics Association International Announces New Leadership For Military Division

Wednesday, November 14th, 2018

In my opinion, IFAI is the most influential industry association for the textile business. It is well organized and works with its members as well as government to promote the health and awareness of the industry. Of particular importance to the Soldier Systems arena is the Military Division which works to promote Berry compliant capability.

During their recent expo in Dallas, Texas, they announced leadership changes for the Military Division.

According to a press release, these are the changes:

Leaving his term as chair of the board, Nick Rivera of MMI Textiles is stepping into the role of immediate past chair. Former vice chair Jennifer Fennell of Polo Custom Products will now serve as the chair, and Jeff Papalia of National Industries for the Blind will move to vice chair. Two new board members were also announced for their first three-year terms: Geoff Senko of MMI Textiles and Peter Raneri of HLC Industries.

Several of those names are well known to me and I know they will do a great job. Congratulations!

Widget Wednesday:  Improve Operational Effectiveness with the SPM-622 Data Log Function

Wednesday, November 14th, 2018

The SPM-622 Squad Power Manager Data Log capability allows small units to measure how much battery power they are actually using, so they can optimize their logistics, resupply, and mission loads – and reduce their Battery Burden.

The Data Log function of the SPM records:

• What devices are plugged into which ports of the SPM

• The voltage, average current and maximum current at each port in use

• The state of charge and temperature of any connected battery / batteries

• A real-time-stamp that includes the date and time of the entry

• Any errors or user alerts

The data log is stored in such a way that it does not disappear if power is lost, and the storage capacity is large enough to keep weeks-worth of usage data. Finally, data logging occurs automatically, but the standard settings can be overridden in order to capture specific or unique data of interest. Once collected, the data log can then be uploaded to a computer and displayed and analyzed using typical tools such as Excel, etc.

To access the data log function of the SPM-622, the operator uses the four buttons along the bottom edge of the SPM-622. From the main screen, press the right arrow Button once to enter the main menu. Once at that screen the operator will see the following display:

Selecting the data log option from the menu selection allows the User to view how much data has already been captured, or to change the data capture intervals. Pressing ‘Erase Log’ will delete all data in the log file.

If power usage data for a particular mission is desired, the User should clear the SPM’s data log before departure and then download the data after the mission is completed. As an example of the benefit of analyzing such data; a SOF unit deployed in a non-permissive environment was able to reduce the battery weight of their mission loads by over 30% – and still maintain full operational capability of their critical electronic equipment.

If you need further assistance, refer to the SPM-622 User Guide or contact Support@Protonex.com. Visit www.PTXnomad.com for further info about the wide range of applications and equipment supported by the SPM-622 Squad Power Manager.
