You’re getting a sneak peek of the Mountain Trainer Lite Mid GTX from Salewa which will be available next year.
It features a suede and fabric upper and uses the Gore-Tex Extended Comfort membrane which is becoming very popular with European footwear.
As you can see, it’s offered in a Black configuration. The sole is a proprietary design by Vibram specifically for this shoe.

Bates Footwear has introduced a Canadian Standards Association compliant safety boot in Tan color.
As you can see from the Green Triangle marking, the boot features sole puncture protection and a Grade 1 Protective toe which will sustain 125 Joules. The Omega symbol indicates it also provides electric shock resistance.

Aku is no stranger to longtime SSD readers, but the Selvatica Tactical Mid is new to North America. It’s cold and rainy on the Stittsville Range today so getting my hands on this pair was quite welcome.
The upper is made from Aku’s proprietary AIR8000 nylon with welded PU reinforcing ribs. The liner is Gore-Tex Extended Comfort.
The outsole is Vibram Selvatica Megagrip combined with an injected EVA midsole and the boot comes with an OrthoLite anti-microbe and breathable insole.

This is the first time WL Gore & Associates, Inc, makers of Gore-Tex material have shown a product made from their new lightweight Thermium insulation. It’s the new Extreme Cold Weather Boot from Belleville.
The boot features 600 grams of composite insulThe Gore Thermium is in the form of a boot insert construction, similar to the Gore-Tex membrane boot insert. However, as depicted in this graphic, the insulation is mapped, with thicker areas covering certain parts of the foot in order to ensure a better fit and protect those parts of the foot which get the coldest.
Built on the Belleville 675 platform, the boot will protect down to -20 deg F and is flight approved. In addition to the Gore Thermium Insulation, the boot also features Gore-Tex protection.
Combining a knit upper with LALO’s LALO Off Road Traction Pods sole. It also features a built-in sock liner which covers the ankle, designed to keep debris out, making this shoe “jumpable.”
The shoe also features Trek Dry bamboo moisture-wicking, H2O shedding antimicrobial upper lining and Multi-density EVA construction with EVA heel counter and carbonized heat transfer toe cap.
Available in Black Ops and Coyote Brown. Ships Fall 2019.
