White’s MP Service Boot – TAD Edition

Friday, May 25th, 2018

Triple Aught Design has been teasing a new leather project as a Foundry Project, for several days now.

Turns out, it’s their first Foundry Project collaboration and first entry into footwear. The Foundry is home to Limited Run projects like special colors or materials.

I asked TAD’s Phil Adams about the project and he said this:

White’s Boots is one of the oldest made in USA companies, founded in 1853, making boots since the civil war.  They still do it like they used too, even today.  100% by hand.  Then there’s TAD, one of the newer brands on the block trying to do it the same.  Made in USA.  Small batches of high quality goods that last a lifetime.  So the merging of the two brands for a project seemed like a perfect fit.  Like playing ball with your great grandfather and allowing him to still teach you a thing or two.

The boots launch next Tuesday and orders will be open for just four weeks.  This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as the Boots are crafted completely by hand, in White’s factory in Spokane, WA, to TAD’s specs, and to the specifics of the customers order.  Truly custom for each customer.  MSRP is $595.

Stay tuned via their Newsletter for notification on the project activation.

The Expedition Guide 75 is replacing its predecessor, the Husky 75, as the in service ski boot with a number of specialist military units, including the Sirius Patrol. The new lighter and more streamlined boot with its monocoque style of construction is being used by the British forces to provide a versatile, light and reliable boot for operations on the Northern Flank.

As focus turns to the ability to operate in sub-zero temperatures this boot provides an excellent balance between skiing and the normal movement required to conduct military operations.

Warrior West 18 – Belleville 901V2 “Burma” Jungle Boot

Thursday, April 19th, 2018

The 901V2 is Belleville’s Jungle Boot, called the “Burma.” The V2 is because it’s their second version, with a thinner midsole than the first version.

As you can see, it features a Panama II outsole. Inside, there’s a puncture resistant textile insole and medial and lateral side drainage perforations. The vamp construction acts as a screen for sand and debris.

There’s also a removable PU footbed which provides some shock absorption and sits the sole just a bit off of the puncture proof insole which might have a bit of water which hasn’t drained. This helps keep your feet drier.

Altama – Temperate PRO-X

Tuesday, April 17th, 2018

Altama is working on a new version of their PRO-X boot. The original is a straight up Jungle Boot design but this new model combines the US Army 8″ Temperate upper with the PRO-X sole system. It incorporates a direct attach polyurethane midsole which uses Dual Density Technology with comfort pods.

As you can see, it incorporates the classic Panama tread which remains the best sole for use in the jungle due to its ability to release mud.
