ADS Inc Hit 6000 Likes on Facebook – Celebrate and Win a Camelbak in US4CES Camo

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012

ADS Inc has just surpassed 6000 Likes on Facebook. To celebrate, we asked ADS to let us giveaway a Camelbak Urban Assault Pack in US4CES OCIE pattern. You can be one of the first to own a pack in this sought after pattern.

Since we’re celebrating Facebook ‘Likes’ we’re going to run the contest on Facebook. To win, you’ll need to start by giving both ADS Inc and SSD a ‘Like’. Then, you’ll need to comment on Facebook.com/adsinc explaining that SSD sent you and which US4CES pattern you like and why. For example, “SSD sent me here, I like US4CES OCIE Pattern because I like how it blends with all of the other patterns (btw, if we see that statement cut and pasted word for word, you won’t win). The comment should focus on which US4CES pattern is your favorite and why.

On Sunday 25 November at 2359Z we’ll randomly select a winner from the entries on the ADS Inc Facebook wall. The winning entry must meet all of the requirements. The winner will be contacted via private message and has 24 hours to follow up with shipping address. Failure to follow up within 24 hours will result in forfeiture of prize. Must be 18 to enter. Void where prohibited.

While Whiskey Two Four has its roots in paintball, this item shows that you never know where the next thing is going to come from. This version is made from NYCO with the half moon cuts inspired by standard issue camo netting. They are also looking at laminating fabrics for dual sided use as well as incorporating a geometric cut pattern to work with PenCott’s pattern.

Activision Selects Ghostex Camouflage for “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2”

Tuesday, November 13th, 2012

Activision Publishing, Inc, has selected Ghostex camouflage patterns for use in “Call of Duty: Black Ops II.” As you will recall Ghostex is a Hyperstealth/ADS Inc joint venture that has been providing specialized camouflage development and print-on-demand solutions for specialized customers since 2010. A few of the patterns have been released to the public including the Delta-6 pattern seen below which will be included in the game.

20121113-115917.jpg The web has been abuzz with chatter about specialty camouflage patterns that can be unlocked during game play and Ghostex is it. Notice I said patterns with an “S” meaning I’d expect to see additional Ghostex variants show up in the game. www.ghostex.com

Despite Reports to the Contrary the US Army Has NOT Chosen a New Camouflage

Monday, November 5th, 2012

About a month ago, a deployed reader informed us that he had heard that the US Army had selected a new camouflage pattern. He sent us a simple, two page PPT that he has received via email and showed the pattern as well as a few made up dates for issue. Overall, it was a sophomoric attempt but he asked us to confirm his suspicions that it was untrue. After looking at it I had my doubts but in the offhand that it might have been a local distillation of an official announcement I sent it to the PAO at PEO Soldier. Their reply? It was an interesting fake. Remember, idle hands do the devil’s work. I’d say someone was bored and decided to pull a prank. It seems to have gotten out of hand. I’m not going to post the PPT or the alleged winner because the finalist was just as surprised to see it as PEO Soldier was. Since the initial incident I’ve had to field queries from the field numerous times, so I’m using this bully pulpit to help stem the flow of misinformation.

You may see this PPT floating around email, especially if deployed. Alternatively, it may have been printed out and posted on a unit bulletin board. Regardless of where you see it, it is untrue. If your chain of command sends it to you, politely request that they check with PEO Soldier.

The easiest way to tell it’s a fake? When have you ever seen a Power Point presentation that was only 2 slides? And consider this, have you ever seen a PPT without the issuing unit’s logo all over it?

Please remember, the US Army Camouflage Improvement Effort has downselected to four families of patterns from:

-ADS Inc as Prime, partnered with Guy Cramer
-Brookwood Companies
-Crye Precision
-Kryptek

As they continue to conduct research, I wouldn’t expect any word on a selection for a month at least. Don’t worry, if we hear anything tangible, we’ll they you know. Until then, Keep Calm and Reload (the page).
