Seul Military Consulting

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

We met the folks from Seul military Consulting at last year’s SHOT Show and were immediately impressed with what they had going on. They are responsible for the introduction of Crye Precision combat clothing in German Flecktarn for use by German forces (and MultiCam as well). Not only do they rep the top tier US brands in their home country of Germany but they manufacture some of their own home grown designs as well.

Their own brand is called ATLAS and they produce unique stuff like multi-pocket field jackets, boonie hats, Baseball caps with Velcro and more.

Look for Seul Military Consulting wandering the halls of SHOT Show. They will be there looking for new products to introduce to the German market.

PenCott-Snowdrift Camouflage

Sunday, January 9th, 2011

While the US Army might not be interested in introducing a new camouflage pattern for snow, Hyde Definition has introduced their new PenCott-Snowdriftâ„¢ pattern.

Hyde Definition’s strategy is to introduce disruptive elements to the plain white background normally found in traditional snow camo uniforms. As you can see, they are mimicking the shadows and debris usually found in these environments.

GHOSTEX at SHOT Show

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

While it’s not truly a debut, GHOSTEX, a joint venture between camouflage gurus Hyperstealth and tailored logistics titans ADS is being unveiled to the masses. The reason we say not truly a debut is that previously, they had premiered a sample of their lineup at the ADS Warrior Expo last summer in Virgina Beach.

Intended primarily to support niche forces, GHOSTEX (Ghost Textures) derives its name from the US Army’s Ghost unit of WWII, (23rd Headquarters Special Troops). This Ghost Army specialized in Camouflage, Concealment and Deception (CCD). The premise of the mashup is intriguing; Commercial Off the Shelf camo patterns to cover virtually any scenario paired with rapid manufacturing capabilities to support contingency operations.

We took a look at their wares during the Warrior Expo and came back impressed. The GHOSTEX website goes into pretty good detail about what they are up to so make sure you visit it to gain a deeper understanding of what they have going on. One important detail that we appreciate is that the GHOSTEX program is limited to authorized customers. These patterns are going to be restricted to those who need them only.

Will GHOSTEX be a contender for the Army’s Family of Camouflage program? We won’t know the answer to that until the solicitation is actually released, but if they do, my money is on something completely new that we haven’t even seen yet. After all, with over 8000 patterns to their credit, no one concentrates on camo like Hyperstealth.

Be sure to visit the Hyperstealth reps at ADS, Inc’s booth #20415.

Ahhh…Now It All Makes Sense

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

So we’ve been sitting around the office for weeks trying to figure out Hypersealth came up with SMARTCAMOâ„¢, that color changing camo material they recently teased us with.

Then, we find out that Dr. Joseph Resnick, Lt. Col. Timothy R. O’Neill, Ph.D (U.S. Army, Ret.) and Guy Cramer (of Hyperstealth fame) have owned mineral rights for 95% of the side of the moon that faces Earth, the polar regions and 50% of the far side of the Moon since 2007. And that isn’t to mention their mineral rights on Mars!

So this has got to be it, they have found some rare mineral on the Moon that makes SMARTCAMOâ„¢ work. Now the question is, how did they get it back to Earth?

New North Korean Uniforms Concern South

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010

Adopted in the mid-2000’s the North Korean Army’s Woodland camouflage is causing some concern for the South Korean military who have begun to notice its use on the DMZ.

As you can see in this photo taken 10 Oct 2010, the uniform strongly resembles the old US Woodland pattern and by extension the South Korean Woodland pattern which was adopted by their military in 1992. While the patterns are similar there are obvious differences in color and shapes.

Tensions being what they are, there is concern in the South that the uniforms are being used by NK Special Forces who are conducting infiltration operations of the South. This is prompting South Korea to step up their timetable to field new “digital” camouflage uniforms to their forces.

After a camo development program conducted in 2009-2010, the Republic of Korea is said to adopt this pattern in 2011. ROK Special Forces have been using a pixelated pattern for several years already and there is some conjecture that they will retain this pattern in spite of the upcoming change to the general purpose forces uniform.
