Insulating, Highly Breathable, High Loft Polartec Mid-Layer, Built in the USA

Prometheus Design Werx introduces the Beast Hoodie this Fall-Winter 2018. Made with technical, high loft Polartec ThermalPro fleece, this style traps body heat when worn under a shell and breathes exceptionally well when worn on its own during active field use. The Beast Hoodie features 4 zippered exterior pockets, 4 dummy cords, 2, laser cut loop panels on the sleeves, ports for media cables, double reinforced elbows in Guide Cloth, structured draft resistant thumbhole cuffs, and M.L. hood with A.C. bill. The high loft ThermalPro possesses a distinct signature, legacy appearance that harkens back to the original, performance fleece pile alpine jackets from the late 70s-early80s. Exceptionally comfortable, soft, versatile with a highly distinct appearance. Built in USA.

The Beast Hoodie is a part of their Made in USA CORE-Line of products by Prometheus Design Werx. Available in Wilding Gray and Darker Earth.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“Our Chief Designer has been a fan of this style technical fleece for well over a decade and has been designing with this unique performance textile for as long. In many ways, this Polartec ThermalPro has its DNA in the original pile fleece jackets made for alpinists and mountaineers at the dawn of modern outdoor apparel age where synthetic textiles were introduced into the market. Much like animal fur the high loft properties of this fleece traps body heat to insulate. One of the more notable properties of this fleece is that it breathes exceptionally well to help regulate overheating when the wearer is engaged in high energy, active pursuits such as rock climbing, mountaineering, ski touring, and cold weather hiking. Our proven 4-way stretch Guide Cloth reinforcements are well matched for the range of movement characteristic of this fleece, which is higher than other typical poly fleeces being used in backcountry mid-layers. The design features easily satisfy backcountry EDC with signature, functional details PDW is well known for. Versatility, usefulness in a wide range or cool to cold weather conditions, freedom of movement, and a distinct and unique appearance makes this performance mid-layer a standout for those who make their own way, blaze their own trails, and when they need to, crank it up into beast mode. These jackets are made in our home state of California using US.”

The Beast Hoodie will be available in both colors for purchase on Wednesday, December 12th, 2018 at 12:00pm PT via their website, prometheusdesignwerx.com.

PEO Soldier Surveys Textile Industry for Army Green Service Uniform Manufacturers

Monday, December 3rd, 2018

Last week, Program Executive Office Soldier, Ft. Belvoir, VA issued a market investigation to identify domestic manufacturers as sources of the complete Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU).

The US Army announced adoption of the new dress uniform on Veteran’s Day. According to the announcement, the AGSU is part of an effort to help form a stronger connection between the Army and the country. The uniform invokes an image of our Army at its most popular and connects that heritage to today’s Soldier. Adopting the AGSU will enable the Army to re-establish a distinctive look, renew a strong uniform tradition in the Army and distinguish our Soldiers from the other services.

An complete AGSU includes dress coat, two pairs of pants, long sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt, one tie, one pair leather oxfords, two pairs of socks, garrison cap, belt with buckle and all-weather coat.

This survey does not include optional items such as the service cap, Ike jacket, windbreaker, leather flight jacket or jump boots.

In addition to information on potential offerers’ manufacturing capabilities including equipment, facilities, and quality management systems, PEO Soldier wants to know if the could deliver the following quantities to the Government:

– Provide product demonstration models for the AGSU ensembles (including accessories) within 90 days of contract award?

– Provide 6,000 complete AGSU ensembles (including accessories) within 275 days of contract award?

– Provide up to 150,000 complete AGSU ensembles (including accessories) within 19 months of contract award?

– Offer subcontracts for like items to current manufacturers of Army Blue Service Uniform, supplying them fabrics, in lieu of GFM and meet the financial obligations required to do so?

– Make, stock, maintain and ship on order an tariff/inventory of 1,000 (minimum) and 50,000 (maximum) complete AGSU uniform ensembles for up to 36 months after contract award?

– Provide Special Fielding services for up to 5,000 uniform ensembles. Services may include off site sizing, alterations, make-to-fit, expedited production, expedited delivery, and full set up of uniforms.

Naturally, this requires domestic sourcing and all materials and work must be Berry compliant. Responses are due Dec 14, 2018 11:59 pm Eastern. For full details, visit www.fbo.gov.

Sitka – Vapor SD Jacket

Friday, November 30th, 2018

The Vapor SD Jacket by Sitka is made from WL Gore’s SHAKEDRY fabric.

It’s great as an ultralightweight shell for foul weather running. It can also be carried as a “just-in-case” rain shell with your gear as it takes up so little room and is so lightweight. That’s thanks to the SHAKEDRY material which incorporates the membrane and DWR.

Prometheus Design Werx – Iliad Field Jacket

General Purpose Field Jacket with Tweave Durastretch, Built in the USA

Prometheus Design Werx introduces the Iliad Field Jacket this Fall-Winter 2018. Made with proven US Tweave Durastretch® fabric, this outerwear style has high abrasion resistance, unrestricted movement, blocks wind, high breathability, and a DWR finish.  The Illiad features 5 zippered exterior pockets, dummy cords, 2 internal accessory pockets, laser cut loop panels on the sleeves, ports for media cables, double reinforced elbows, bias cut cuffs with molded cuff tabs, cinch M.L. hood with A.C. bill, and cinch bottom hem. Designed as an all around jacket for field wear and can be worn with mid-layers to regulate for varying conditions. Made in California, USA.

The Design and R&D Team at PDW states:

“We wanted to design an outerwear style to fulfill a niche when laminate shells were just too stifling and the user wanted a jacket that offered protection in the brush and field, but offered peak breathability. The use of Tweave Durastretch® offered everything we wanted for this jacket. Its characteristics were ideal to meet our performance requirements for this category of outerwear. You have great mobility, high abrasion resistance against brush, and breathes so well, that the user could keep it on during aerobic activities in cool to cold weather. From high alpine activities, tracking, snowshoeing, ski touring, this shell was designed so the user wouldn’t have to take it off and keep going. Some in our industry consider this type of textile a soft-shell, but this Tweave Durastretch does not have a laminate backing and therefore more breathable than any 2L or 3L fabrics. The DWR finish shrugs off drizzle and snowfall. While not a rain-shell, the Iliad Field Jacket handles a wide variety of outdoor conditions and remains exceptionally comfortable. These jackets are made in our home state of California using US woven Tweave brand fabric.”

The Iliad Field Jacket is a part of their Made in USA CORE-Line of products by Prometheus Design Werx. Available in Stone Mountain Green (Sage Green) and Dark Arid Earth (Coyote Brown).

The Iliad Field Jacket will be available in both colors for purchase on Wednesday, November 28th, 2018 at 12:00pm PT via their website, prometheusdesignwerx.com.

Crye Precision’s New Generation of Combat and Field Apparel Officially Available for Purchase

Monday, November 26th, 2018

Brooklyn, NY – Nov 16, 2018 – Crye Precision®, one of the leading suppliers of uniforms and personal equipment to the military, law enforcement and public safety markets, has announced their new G4 line, including the G4 Combat Uniform and Field Uniform is now available for purchase.

This next generation of Combat Apparel, from the company who brought you the original Combat Uniform, features the exclusive stretch VTX Ripstop™ fabric, and is constructed with Invista’s T420 high-tenacity nylon fiber, allowing the uniform to be light yet strong.

The integrated stretch allows for a more streamlined and slimmer cut with maximum mobility throughout the entire garment; with the stretch panels being replaced with the newer fabric throughout the entire document.

Pockets are low profile and engineered to reduce bulk while still allowing room for all essential gear. Mesh venting is incorporated for maximum air-flow and breathability.

The G4 Combat Shirt, features a set-in shoulder pocket with internal expansion and a set-in loop with a low profile pen pocket. Underarm panels are shaped for enhanced mobility, with darted sleeves for an ergonomic fit. The internal elbow pad pocket is minimal and lightweight, maintaining the streamlined fit without compromising functionality. Cuffs have VELCRO® tab closures, and the mid-height zip-collar allows for easy donning and doffing. The hem shape is longer in the back and the flatlocked seam construction at the side panels helps to minimize bulk. Enhanced fit and function are the top priorities.

The G4 Combat Pant features multiple pass-throughs to the low-profile cargo pocket to secure charges. The adjustable padded waist features a low-profile die cut VELCRO® adjust tab, and is lined with moisture wicking material. The front thigh pockets are larger (sized for a phone), mesh lined and have a secure zip closure; and a dedicated knife holder is included with a reinforced opening.  Tension and height-adjusters ensure maximum comfort and fit for the new AIRFLEX® IMPACT Combat knee pads; which are compatible with all Crye’s combat pants. This new combat knee pad provides impact protection exceeding EN14404 test standards and features a re-engineered flexible cap for complete freedom of movement.

The G4 Field Uniform also features VTX Ripstop™ fabric. The integrated stretch allows for a slimmer cut while maintaining maximum mobility – even under body armor.

The G4 Field Shirt, like the Combat Shirt, was created with maximum comfort and functionality as priority. Designed as a tailored utility shirt, the chest pockets are noticeably sleek, with flaps engineered to be tucked in for ease of access, along with zippered shoulder pockets that reduce bulk while still allowing room for all essential gear.

Like the Combat Pants, G4 Field Pants pockets are carefully located and intentionally engineered to reduce excess material and weight. There’s an adjustable waistband and mesh venting throughout the pant for maximum air-flow and breathability, providing the maximum comfort even under the most stressful situations. Compatible with all AIRFLEX® Field knee pads.

The team at Crye also made a conscious effort ensure sizing was consistent across all G4 styles. And that all garments fit true to size after laundering.  The G4 line has a more athletic fit than the G3 but the inherent stretch of the VTX™ Ripstop fabric enhances the wearer’s mobility and comfort.

“We at Crye support individual liberty and our inalienable rights.  Our military and police safeguard those rights” stated Crye Precision® Founder, Caleb Crye.  “We create products for people who operate in highly demanding environments. Our new G4 series uniforms are a direct result of listening to specific user needs and building designs around them, from the fabric to each feature and detail.  We’re honored to supply those who put themselves in harm’s way to keep the rest of us safe and we’re proud to be making all of our products right here in the USA.”

The G4 Uniforms are available now through the Crye Precision® website, www.cryeprecision.com; and are available initially in MultiCam® Pattern, with other colors being launched throughout 2019. As always, contact Crye Precision® for any customizations to orders.
