The RECON line consists of 3 elements- the RECON Garrison Shirt, the RECON Combat Shirt and the RECON Pants. The full line was initially launched in MultiCam®, however, it will now include solid colors- OD Green, Navy and Black. Specifically, the RECON Garrison Shirt will now be available in Black, Navy and OD Green. The RECON Combat Shirt will be available in Black, Smoke Grey, Navy, OD Green, and Desert Tan. “We’ve seen great success and reception in the market with our RECON uniform in MultiCam® in regards to its functionality and price point,” says Darrell Morrow, Vice President of Vertx. “With that said, a number of agencies and units expressed their desire to have the uniform offered in their standard colors. This provided the necessary catalyst to investigate which colors were most requested and from that research we ended up with the mix that we are now launching. We feel that the uniform fulfills a need in most agencies and units to have a robust, functional uniform at a feasible price.”

ORWM – Beyond

Tuesday, January 10th, 2017

Coming this Summer, this is the Argus Hoodie from Beyond. It’s made from a 300 weight, brushed Polartec fleece. I like the crossover hood opening and monkey paw feature. The Argus Hoodie will be offered in Coyote, as seen here.

This is the Level 10 is based on the Arctic Combat Concept ensemble accomplished last year.  When it’s used as a system it will go down to -50 deg F in static – situation and to -70 Deg F while moving thanks to the 7 oz Climashield fill.  It incorporates a North American Coyote ruff, available for separate order in packs of two.  This is because the ruffs are non-Berry but also the best available for use in extreme cold environments.  Due to the Berry issue, Beyond worked within the framework of the DFAR and offers them for separate order.

The front flap can be opened with a one hand pull to access an armor carrier beneath.

The Anorak features dual side zips to facilitate donning and doffing and the seat of both Anorak and Trouser are reinforced with Cordura.

Beyond products are available for unit and agency order through ADS Inc.

Arc’teryx LEAF Announces Berry Compliant Manufacturing

Monday, January 2nd, 2017

This is huge news from Arc’teryx as clothing and equipment from their LEAF program continues to increase in popularity with US military customers. Even though you get what you pay for, cost can be an issue for some, but the biggest hurdle is the Berry Amendment which requires that textiles originate and are assembled here in the US.

They are kicking off with production of the Assault Shirt AR and Assault Pant AR which have already been selected for clothing programs within elements of the Air Force. Hopefully, this will soon be followed with the Recce Shirt AR, Atom LT and Alpha Jacket and Pant.

Read their release below.

Vancouver BC (Jan 2 2017) – ARC’TERYX LEAF, the technical leader in performance apparel and equipment, is proud to announce that it has committed to manufacturing in the United States in 2017 and in accordance with The Berry Amendment (USC, Title 10, Section 2533a).

Berry compliant products will allow Arc’teryx to establish its position as a provider of best in class uniform solutions to the US military.

The aim is to create approved, stock issued items, that are inventoried by our dealer network. Arc’teryx is approaching this capability in a scaled and opportunity driven manner. Phase 1 BERRY manufactured uniform products will include the Assault Shirt AR and Assault Pant AR.

“Currently we have not been able to satisfy large volume technical apparel requests by US Military units. Becoming Berry compliant allows us to become a true uniform supplier”. – James Harding, Director of LEAF Commercial.
