FirstSpear Friday Focus – Squadron Smock

For this week’s Friday Focus, we’re taking a look at a classic FirstSpear garment, the Squadron Smock. It was one of their first clothing items and this classic design remains one of my favorite jackets, years later. The shell fabric on the Squadron Smock is 330D by 3-ply 70D Taslanized nylon with DWR finish. Additionally, it integrates a gridded fleece yoke lining, 330D Cordura elbow reinforcements, as well as mesh interior pockets along the skirt.
The Squadron Smock features a total of 18 pockets, giving wearers a large amount of carriage capacity. The hood is sized to accommodate helmets, with drawstring and rear adjustments, and a wire stiffened brim. Two-way pit zips provide ventilation, and drawstrings along the waist and hem allow for adjustment to suit the wearer. The Squadron Smock also features scrim/camo attachment points along hood, upper back, and waist; 2-way main zipper with snap closure at bottom; and Velcro adjustable cuffs.

Agilite Gear – Wind Warrior Fleece

Agilite Gear’s Wind Warrior Fleece was designed for IDF units who wear fleece jackets as an outer layer.
The Wind Warrior is built from 3 thermal layers, including a wind-blocking internal membrane. Many IDF units have procured the Wind Warrior ahead of Winter 2016, and now it’s available for general purchase in Ranger Green, in two versions; IDF w/ shoulder epaulets for Officer ranks, and regular.
Carinthia Caters to SOF Clothing Requirements
Tuesday, October 6th, 2015Another great European brand we had a chance to chat with at DSEI was Austria-based Carinthia. They manufacture a range of sleeping bags, shelters and environmental clothing systems. Several of their items are used by European SOF units and they often create special make up variants of their products such as those shown below.
This is a Gore-Tex shell that has been adopted by a European SOF organization. It’s a modified version of the Carinthia Tactical Rain Garment which includes Trousers. It utilizes a Topaz ePTFE membrane with a polyamide shell.
That same unit also issues this jacket was an insulated garment. It’s a variant of Carinthia’s Extreme Cold Insulation Jacket and includes Trousers. It uses G-loft ISO+ polyester insulation with a polyamide shell featuring a GORE Windstopper membrane.

Beyond x First Spear Booth Jacket
Introducing the Booth Jacket by Beyond and First Spear. The Booth Jacket is a fully U.S. made (Berry Compliant) evolution of First Spear’s Squadron Smock. This extremely limited run consists of only 13 jackets and they will not be reproduced.
Originally inspired by a traditional British Smock, the Booth Jacket is loaded with pockets and features. Built out of a DWR treated 50/50 nylon cotton ripstop for durability and protection from the elements. The Booth Jacket also features a grid fleece liner, Cordura elbow reinforcement and mesh interior pockets. The hood is sized to fit over a helmet and features a wired brim that can be adjusted for full customization. Extending down the hood and the back of the garment are attachment points for camouflage material. In total, the Booth Jacket features 18 pockets for endless storage configurations.
