Kate’s Real Food Bars

Monday, April 27th, 2015

Kate's Real Food

Kate’s Real Food Bars are a line of energy bars made from all-natural, organic ingredients. Having tried several sample bars, we can definitely attest to the quality. Their Tiki Bar, for example, tastes great, with a mellow coconut flavor accented with cashew, and a slight hint of mango. The bars are also guaranteed to remain completely edible even when cold, and after having stored one of the bars (Handle Bar – dark chocolate, cherry, almond) in the fridge for an extended period, we’ve found this is true. Although it did stiffen, unlike other food bars, it was still easy enough to break apart and chew.

You can either order Kate’s Real Food bars online or find them in many outdoor stores.

K-Rats: It’s What’s for Breakfast

Blame the Army Air Forces for its development, but the precursor to the First Strike Ration was initially used by WWII paratroopers because it could eaten on the go.

KiwiDude Reviews the German Typ III EPa

Tuesday, August 19th, 2014

In this rather lengthy review of the German military’s issue 24-hour ration, the EinmannPackung or EPa, KiwiDude butchers the German language but has a pretty good time going through the various components. I’ve had EPas over the years and I can say that they make for a great break from the standard MRE lineup.

Check out his other videos. He looks at some very cool international combat rations.

Blade Show 2014 – Reaper Outdoors

Saturday, June 7th, 2014

This is the new hot sauce from Reaper Outdoors, produced by Lendy’s in Va Beach. Lendy’s is a local favorite for wings and on any given day you’ll find a cast of various characters bellied up to the bar.

“Reap Your Rewards with Reaper Hot Sauce,” said Ron Bellan who went on to add that it, “should be in every survival kit.” It’s already so popular back home that they are selling it in bulk.

OR – PowerPot

Monday, March 10th, 2014

I’ve mentioned PowerPot a couple of times in the past and at this past OR Winter Market they showed their new PowerPot X which offers twice the power of its predecessor the PowerPot V. This means you can charge two smartphones or one tablet (10w and up to 2a) via 2 USB ports, in a package that weighs in beginning at 20oz depending on whether you use the regular 2.4l or XL 3.8l model.

The concept is simple. You use the PowerPot to cook and the device converts heat into power which can be used directly or stored in a battery.
