San Tan Tactical, Makers of the STT-15 Rifle, Sign Laura Burgess Marketing

Thursday, November 18th, 2021

San Tan Tactical, manufacturers of the 100 percent ambidextrous AR platform, have signed Laura Burgess Marketing for public and writer relations.

Chandler, Ariz. (November 2021) – San Tan Tactical, an Arizona firearm design and manufacturing facility, has signed  Laura Burgess Marketing (LBM) to provide public and writer relations for the all American-made 100 percent ambidextrous AR platform, uppers, lowers, and parts.

The San Tan Tactical STT-15 AR platform was designed out of necessity. As left-hand shooters themselves, the owners of San Tan Tactical decided that compromise was no longer an option. Southpaws deserved an AR-15/M4 rifle that did not require them to conform to right-hand shooting and was 100 percent ambidextrous.

“The STT-15 rifle is a direct result of American ingenuity and dedication to craft,” Jack Biegel, president of San Tan Tactical, said. “The rifle was designed to accommodate ALL shooters and made to perform flawlessly in any environment, including home defense, competition, hunting, and for our brothers and sisters in law enforcement and the Armed Forces. We look forward to letting more people know they have a choice when it comes to quality rifles, and especially those often neglected southpaws.”

“The population of left-hand shooters is growing and is currently about 12 percent of the world population. We are excited to help San Tan Tactical let the shooting community know there are choices for southpaws,” Laura Burgess, president of LBM, added. “We look forward to connecting with our industry media to promote this top-notch, American-made AR platform.”

LBM will help support press and writer relations, social media programs, as well as evaluate and strategize their upcoming 2022 advertising plans.

Tuesday, November 16th, 2021

Galvion’s advanced lithium-ion battery technology strengthens Stryten’s Military and Government energy storage portfolio.

Alpharetta, Georgia
Stryten Energy LLC, a U.S.-based energy storage solutions provider, today announced it has acquired the assets of Galvion Vehicle Power, a division of Galvion Inc., a developer of advanced protective equipment, power management and data solutions for military and tactical clients worldwide.

The acquisition comes as the Biden administration, and notably the U.S. Department of Defense, are redoubling the commitment to boost U.S. manufacturing capabilities of highly specialized lithium-ion batteries. These batteries are vital to U.S. military preparedness, energy security and the advancement of clean energy goals.

Galvion has developed groundbreaking, safe and reliable lithium-ion energy storage solutions to meet demanding military requirements. Galvion’s Symbasys SWitchPack™ and SWATPACK™ lithium battery products will join Stryten’s newly formed Military and Government Division’s suite of power solutions that serves the public sector market. Solutions will include advanced lead and lithium battery technologies for submarines, combat vehicles, microgrids and ground logistics applications.

This acquisition further solidifies our ability to help lead the transition to a clean energy economy.”

“Stryten Energy’s commitment to supplying Military and Government customers with premium energy storage solutions, combined with their manufacturing and distribution capabilities, makes them the ideal partner to acquire Galvion’s Vehicle Power division,” said Galvion CEO, Jonathan Blanshay. “This divestiture further supports our strategy to sharpen our focus and drive expanded capability, innovation and growth initiatives to deliver enhanced warfighter survivability and lethality.”

Canadian International Trade Tribunal Finds in Favor of Rampart International in Canada Military Handgun Procurement Dispute

Tuesday, November 16th, 2021

According to information received by SSD, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal recently found in favor of Rampart International Corp regarding two complaints against a recent Department of National Defense requirement for a new pistol, dubbed the C22. CITT is the governing body for disputes with government procurement in Canada.

Specifically, Rampart took issue with a draft pistol requirement published by the Department of Public Works and Government Services (Solicitation W8476-216392/B).

In their determination, CITT recommends PWGSC cancel the draft solicitation and issue a new version. In the revised solicitation, if PWGSC specifies a particular design, it should also include the words “or equivalent.”

As part of the determination, CITT also recommends that PWGSC reimburse Rampart for the reasonable costs incurred preparing their protest. Essentially, lawyer fees.

This action will likely result in another multi-year delay in replacing Canada’s worn-out Browning Hi-Power pistols (and SIG P-225 used by Military Police). The effort to procure a new gun has gone on for at least a decade with DND calling on the international arms industry in 2011 to offer up their Technical Data Packages for manufacture of their pistol designs by Colt Canada. Understandably, they didn’t have any takers.

Traditionally, Canada turns to its Munitions Supply Program to procure arms manufactured in Canada. One of the issues that has caused a hold up with the program is that there are no suitable domestically produced pistols. Hence, the earlier call for foreign designs. But that may have changed.

Ultimately, this is a huge boon for CZ who recently acquired Colt Canada. They could assert their right to include a CZ handgun on the Munitions Supply List and demand the Canadian military purchase it. This isn’t as bad for the Canadians as it might sound on its surface. CZ builds some great handguns, including the new P-10 as well as the P-09 which was competed in the US Army Modular Handgun System competition. This is significant because DND believes they require a Modular Handgun, somewhat similar to what the US purchased. However, with the MSL once again in play, they may get what they are offered, and like it.

True Velocity Acquires LoneStar Future Weapons

Wednesday, November 10th, 2021

Today, True Velocity released information that they are purchasing LoneStar Future Weapons. As you may recall, the US Army novated (that means legally transferred) the Next Generation Squad Weapons contract from GD OTS to LoneStar. Notably, LoneStar was formed in February of 2021.

Interestingly, the companies shared several personnel prior to this acquisition. Also in the mix is LoneStar affiliate Automatic Products Corporation. The relationship between LoneStar and APC was disclosed in a press release earlier this year.

The release also claims that they are one of two companies remaining in the NGSW program.? I know that SIG is still involved based on discussions during AUSA. So by elimination, True Velocity is telling us that Textron and their Case Telescoping Technology is out. There are some legs to this assumption. I had heard several rumors while in the UK attending DSEi that Textron was out. At AUSA, I visited the Textron booth and there were no NGSW candidates in the booth. I inquired at the front desk and they told me they would get back to me after accepting my card. About two hours later, I received an email which informed me that they would be unable to discuss the program with me during AUSA. I furthered my investigation by speaking with some of their suppliers in attendance at the show, who quite properly told me they couldn’t comment on the matter.

The three NGSW vendors had to send in their latest proposals for the program a few weeks ago. I have inquired with the Army as to which companies submitted proposals and I’m awaiting their answer. Until we get a definitive answer from either of the Army or Textron, ?it’s all an educated guess.

GARLAND, Texas, Nov. 10, 2021 // — Texas-based True Velocity has announced that it will acquire next-generation weapon manufacturer LoneStar Future Weapons in a transaction valued at approximately $84 million.

The strategic acquisition enables True Velocity to extend its innovative approach to lightweight ammunition development and advanced manufacturing technology into the weapons industry, leveraging LoneStar Future Weapons’ substantial expertise in research and design, precision manufacturing, quality control and production efficiency. As a result of the transaction, True Velocity will add LoneStar’s preeminent patent portfolio around next-generation weapons and projectile technology to an already-robust collection of more than 340 patents either issued or pending in the lightweight ammunition space.

LoneStar Future Weapons will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of True Velocity parent company TV Ammo, Inc.

“The LoneStar team is extremely excited to work more closely with True Velocity to implement our next-generation weapons, projectile technology and recoil-mitigation technology into the amazing polymer ammunition ecosystem,” said Craig Etchegoyen, chairman of LoneStar Future Weapons. “Together, our American-owned, American-based companies will provide our warfighters with the very best weapons and ammunition to protect our nation.”

In April 2021, LoneStar Future Weapons announced a strategic partnership with True Velocity to compete in the U.S. Army’s Next Generation Squad Weapons program. Under the arrangement, LoneStar Future Weapons assumed the prime contractor role from General Dynamics Ordnance & Tactical Systems and True Velocity continued to serve as a subcontractor responsible for the provision of its advanced 6.8TVCM composite-cased cartridge.

True Velocity’s acquisition of LoneStar Future Weapons allows the two companies to leverage substantial synergies and business efficiencies in the development and production of advanced weapons and ammunition for the Next Generation Squad Weapons program and other forthcoming force modernization contracts.

“Incorporating LoneStar Future Weapons’ innovative approach to weapon design and manufacture, along with their significant intellectual property portfolio and licensing expertise, into TV Ammo’s holdings strategically positions our business to have a lasting and meaningful impact on the lethality of U.S. fighting forces,” said True Velocity Chairman and CEO Kevin Boscamp. “It provides a path forward for the development and co-optimization of advanced weapons and munitions for the U.S. Department of Defense, our international allies, and the domestic commercial market.”

True Velocity and LoneStar Future Weapons are one of two teams remaining in the NGSW program, which is expected to culminate in January 2022. Current production includes a semi-automatic rifle and an automatic rifle designed to fire True Velocity’s proprietary 6.8TVCM composite-cased cartridge. LoneStar Future Weapons and True Velocity also plan to develop a lightweight medium machine gun, as well as commercially available products, in the future.
