Rugged Suppressors Donates $15,000 to Support ASA Foundation-Backed Lawsuit to End Suppressor Bans in Illinois and Beyond

Travelers Rest, SC – Rugged Suppressors has generously donated $15,000 to the American Suppressor Association Foundation (ASA-F) to support its ongoing litigation aimed at overturning suppressor bans in Illinois and seven other states. This significant contribution will help fund the ASA-F’s efforts to make suppressors legal in all 50 states, advancing the fight for firearm owners’ rights.

The ASA Foundation, the 501(c)(3) arm of the American Suppressor Association, is leading this charge through its backing of the landmark case Anderson v. Raoul. The lawsuit challenges the constitutionality of Illinois’ suppressor ban and seeks to establish legal precedent that will dismantle similar laws across the country. The funds donated by Rugged Suppressors will not only support the continuation of this critical ASA Foundation-backed lawsuit, but also enable the ASA-F to expand its legal efforts to other states, such as California and New Jersey.

Danish Counter-UAS Company MyDefence Chooses Oklahoma City for Second U.S. Location

The company will invest $1.2 million, creating nearly 50 new jobs

Oklahoma City – October 15, 2024 – The Oklahoma Department of Commerce (Commerce) is pleased to announce that Danish counter Unmanned Air Systems (c-UAS) company, MyDefence, has selected Oklahoma City for its second U.S. based offices. The company is planning an initial investment of more than $1.2 million. The expansion, which was facilitated by Commerce, will create 48 new jobs and provide military and defense companies with counter-drone technology to combat Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and other threatening drone technology.

“From an overall perspective, it is great news that MyDefence sets up its second US-based facility less than a year after its first,” said Defense Industry Attache, His Royal Highness brigadier general Prince Joachim. “Having chosen Oklahoma City to expand production, MyDefence will find itself at the heart of innovation and R&D in the field of counter-UAS. This move will undoubtedly inspire other Danish high-tech defence-industries.”

MyDefence has identified the newly constructed Convergence development near downtown Oklahoma City for its offices and plans to be housed in the building by 2025. The Convergence multi-phase project is located within the newly established Oklahoma City Innovation District. When finished, Convergence will include 950 new offices, along with an amphitheater, retail space and Hilton-Curio affiliated hotel.

“Oklahoma has some of the strongest aerospace and defense infrastructure in the nation— it only makes sense that we’re seeing more UAS companies invest here. It speaks to the strategic role we play in defending freedoms around the world,” said Governor Stitt. “I’m thankful to the team at the Department of Commerce for landing another great company, and look forward to welcoming MyDefence to Oklahoma.”

Aerospace and Defense are Oklahoma’s second-largest industries, with an annual economic impact of nearly $44 billion. The state is home to over 1,100 aerospace entities, including manufacturing, MRO, UAS, research and development, and military, which employ over 120,000 workers. In the emerging unmanned industry, Oklahoma is ranked #1 in preparedness for drones, committing 845,000+ acres of sites for UAS and CUAS testing. Oklahoma is a growing UAS hub for fire and rescue, precision agriculture, safety and security, transmission monitoring, weather, and aerial photography. It’s also home to the first UAS Design PhD program in the U.S. at Oklahoma State University.

Chemring Nobel and the Norwegian Government Launch Feasibility Study into New Production Facility

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the Norwegian Government has taken a number of steps to increase production capacity in the Norwegian defence industry. This includes co- funding Chemring Nobel £32m, alongside the EU, to more than double capacity at its current site.

On 10 October 2024 the Norwegian Government announced new measures to strengthen the Norwegian defence industry. Launching its roadmap for increased production capacity in the defence industry, the Norwegian Government has identified that the production of high explosives in Europe is significantly lower than the growing demand, especially for HMX, RDX and NTO. It also identified that, as one of only two manufacturers of advanced military explosives in Europe, Chemring Nobel’s production is crucial to both NATO and European allies.

The Norwegian Government has therefore announced that it will co-finance and participate in a feasibility study with Chemring Nobel to assess the development of a new production facility to increase the production of military explosives at Chemring Nobel.

This co-funded feasibility study, which is expected to be concluded by the end of 2024, will among other things investigate the geographic location, infrastructure requirements and environmental considerations of building a new production facility. The study will also consider the role and the levels of any financial contribution made by the Norwegian Government.

Vista Outdoor Announces Plans to Sell Kinetic Group to CSG & Outdoor Group to SVP

In separate announcements late last week, Vista Outdoors informed shareholders of plans to sell its Kinetic Group of companies? (formerly known as Sporting Products) seen in the graphic below to Czechoslovak Group a.s. (CSG) for $2.225 billion.

Contingent upon this sale, Strategic Value Partners, LLC, and its affiliates (“SVP”), a global alternative investment firm with approximately $19 billion of assets under management, has offered to purchase Revelyst (aka Outdoor Group) in an all-cash transaction based on an enterprise value of $1.125 billion.

According to a Vista press release, “The SVP Transaction has been unanimously approved by the Board and is expected to close by January 2025, subject to the completion of the CSG Transaction, as well as the receipt of necessary regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. Vista Outdoor and CSG have received all regulatory approvals required under the merger agreement for the CSG Transaction and are prepared to close the CSG Transaction prior to the end of 2024…”
