Kili-Climbing

Wednesday, September 19th, 2012

Kili Climbing is a new business venture for Chris Kopp who founded CTOMS after retiring as a PJ from the Canadian military. Chris is an avid climber and he’s been working on developing Kili-Climbing for about a year now.

Chris gave us the low down on this new undertaking…”While CTOMS remains my main focus, Kili-Climbing is my pet project. As some know, I dabble in climbing so when my friend approached me to be his business partner in a new venture, it was hard to say no. It is an African, specifically Tanzanian climbing and safari company offering climbs on Kilimanjaro, Meru and Ol Doinyo Lengai as well as safari and diving packages. We arrange the bookings from North America and my business partner manages operations on the ground in Tanzania. Being retired military, catering to that demographic is something important to me from the perspective of adventure training and high altitude familiarization training for operational applications as well as facilitating wounded veterans climbs. What we don’t offer is cookie cutter packages, but rather custom tailored ones where we can plan and book as little or as much as the clients desires. This includes fully supported climbs and trips, or facilitating self-supported climbs that meet the minimal legal guide requirements.

All-in-all it sounds like a great way for our kinds of folks to arrange a climbing trip to Africa.

Combat Flip Flops Suffers Setback

Tuesday, September 18th, 2012

Combat Flip Flops has run into a setback in the production of their line of footwear.

Dear Combat Flip Flops Fans,

It is with disappointment that we deliver news about another Combat Flip Flops setback. The Combat Flip Flops team traveled to Kabul last week to take delivery of the initial run of AK-47’s, Tuck-Tucks, and Poseidons. Upon initial inspection, we found 100% of the footwear failed due to material issues. Post assembly, it was extremely clear that the footwear cannot be delivered to our customers.

This is not an Afghan issue. The responsibility is on our shoulders.

On an good note, we sourced two new factories and produced samples that exceed CFF standards for quality and production capacity.

The CFF team is executing a contingency plan that has the initial run footwear delivered to worldwide dealers and customers by Christmas with a much larger volume of Men’s and Women’s footwear for delivery in Spring 2013. If you have any questions or would like a refund for your previously purchased footwear, please email us at info@combatflipflops.com. We truly appreciate the support and patience of this community. Thank you.

Griff
CEO
Combat Flip Flops

It is unfortunate that CFF has run into this setback. I’ve spoken at length with the folks who have worked to bring this vision to reality and I know how difficult it has been to engage with Allies at the economic level, especially in a combat zone. They have been up front about these struggles and will work through this latest challenge. Thanks guys for helping to drain the swamp. It’s impossible to win when you’re up to your ass in alligators.
