UF PRO Sets 8 October to Launch Next-Gen Hunter FZ Softshell Tactical Jacket—Offers More Ruggedness, Functionality

Tuesday, September 24th, 2019

TRZIN, SLOVENIA (24 Sept. 2019)—UF PRO said today it will begin selling on 1 October its new Hunter FZ Gen.2 Tactical Softshell Jacket, an upgraded version of the company’s durable and versatile soft-shell mid-layer/outerwear for military or law-enforcement field operations in less-than-ideal weather.

UF PRO said this next generation Hunter FZ Tactical Jacket carries forward the features that made its predecessor. Those original features included construction with breathable yet windproof and water-repellent materials plus a smart pocket configuration and use of design techniques that allow the garment to fit the contours of the wearer’s body without restricting freedom of movement.

Among the key improvements to the soon-arriving Hunter FZ Gen.2 Tactical Jacket:

• Superior abrasion resistance, thanks to the addition of nylon mesh side-panels starting at the armpits and extending down to the waist;

• Elasticized cuffs;

• Strap-operated upper-arm pocket with velcro cover and a pen pocket

Retailing at €139, the Hunter FZ Gen.2 Tactical Jacket is going to be available in Black, Brown Grey, Navy Blue, and Steel Grey, according to Armin Wagner, head of UF PRO product development.

“We’re confident military and police professionals are going to love the enhancements to this must-have item of soft-shell tactical gear,” Wagner said. “And because the Hunter FZ Gen.2 is an anatomically fitted garment, it can be worn as a mid-layer underneath one or more extra layers, such as a hard-shell product like our Monsoon Tactical Rain Jacket

“The Hunter FZ Gen.2 Tactical Jacket is the ideal clothing-system add-on.” According to Wagner, the UF PRO Hunter FZ Gen.2 Tactical Jacket’s water-repellency makes it supremely well-suited for use in fog, mist, drizzle, and light-to-moderate rain, while its ability to completely block wind means even strong gusts on chilly days won’t cause shivers or set teeth chattering.

Its lining is 100-percent polyester fiber. This, Wagner explained, provides thermal properties that keep the wearer warm at temperatures down to 5° C and comfortable when the mercury rises to as high as 25° C.

“As with our other garments in the Hunter FZ range, we employ lightweight COCONA® Inc. 37.5™ microfleece for the lining material—and we do so because of its outstanding performance profile,” he added. “Among the things 37.5™ microfleece is exceptional at doing is drying quickly if it becomes wet from sweat. In fact, it dries so rapidly that you probably won’t even be aware that you were sweating in the first place.”

The lightness of the liner contributes to keeping the overall weight of the jacket at just over one-half kilogram and to helping ensure that the garment easily folds away or rolls up for stowage in a rucksack or duffle, Wagner offered.

SPARTANAT: First Time in Action for the TILO-6MA at the Outer-Limits Experience Week in Austria

Tuesday, September 24th, 2019

The TILO is still the smallest thermal imaging goggle in the world with a 640 pixel sensor. It has been used since one year in various special units worldwide. Also with the US authorities it enjoys increasing popularity and was procured. The new metal version of the TILO-6M is now equipped with an aluminium housing and is waterproof up to 20m and therefore also suitable for divers. During the Experience Week at the Grundlsee in Austria, enthusiastic interested parties were able to convince themselves of the possibilities of these smallest thermal imaging goggles to date. A German SEK (SWAT team) took the opportunity and tested the TILO.

The TILO can be fastened as shown with a very light helmet holder. For use with a diving mask a special spacer is used, so that the distance is sufficiently large. Alternatively an attachment to the Opscore Shroud is possible for this there is also an adapter available.

The Aluverion of the TILO-6M is also much more suitable than the plastic version for use as an thermal clip on. With its bayonet connection it can be mounted in front of a rifle scope within seconds.

In combination with the afocal attachment lens it can reach a detection range (standing man) of 2,5km.

Here, you can find the SPARTANAT report from outer-limits Experience Week 2019.

Rheinmetall’s Lynx KF41 Infantry Fighting Vehicle downselected for Australian’s Land400 Phase 3 program

Wednesday, September 18th, 2019

Rheinmetall is pleased to confirm the Lynx KF41 Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) has been selected by the Commonwealth of Australia to compete in the Risk Mitigation Activity (RMA) trials for the $15 billion LAND 400 Phase 3 program.

Lynx KF41 is a next generation tracked, networked and highly protected IFV which meets the stringent military requirements of LAND 400 Phase 3. The Australian Army needs a networked, protected and enabled IFV for close combat – to close in and defeat an enemy in the most dangerous and lethal environments for Australian soldiers.

Rheinmetall will deliver three Lynx IFVs to compete in RMA trials to be conducted in Australia. If successful, the Lynx IFV fleet will be manufactured in Queensland at Rheinmetall’s new Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence at Redbank south west of Brisbane.

Rheinmetall Defence Australia Managing Director, Gary Stewart, said: “We welcome the Commonwealth’s decision to select Lynx KF41 for the RMA trials and look forward to demonstrating the capability of our next generation infantry fighting vehicle.”

“We believe Lynx is the best vehicle in its class for Australian needs and it sets new standards in protection, mobility, lethality and knowledge needed to survive and defeat any adversary,” Mr Stewart said.

“Rheinmetall has developed this vehicle so it is positioned at an ideal level of maturity when Australia needs it to enter service in 2026 – and it has the inherent growth capacity and a growth path to extend these capabilities through its 40+ year life.”

Rheinmetall is already delivering an Australian Industry Network for Land 400 that builds an industrial capability in Australia. This includes creating high technology enduring jobs for hundreds of Australians by localising design and manufacturing expertise in electro-optics, weapon systems, fire control and sensor systems, turret manufacturing, variant design and manufacture, integration, armour systems, simulation, training and fleet sustainment.

Ben Hudson, Global Head of Rheinmetall’s Vehicle Systems Division, said: “We are delighted to have been selected in Australia for the next phase of this important program.”

“Design, development and manufacture of the Lynx in Australia for the Australian Defence Force will build on the advanced manufacturing jobs at our new MILVEHCOE as well as a strong national industrial network of Australian small and medium businesses across Australia,” Mr Hudson said.

Rheinmetall is delivering 211 8×8 BOXER Combat Reconnaissance Vehicles (CRV) to the Australian Army from 2019 after the vehicle was selected by the Commonwealth after 12 months of RMA trials by ADF personnel in 2016-2017.

Both the BOXER and Lynx are modular. That means the vehicles can be reconfigured to achieve many different missions with high commonality. This allows for reconfiguration of the fleets for emergent operational needs, providing greater mission flexibility, reducing through-life costs, enabling faster introduction of new technology, and optimising ongoing fleet management.

“Rheinmetall has taken all of the significant benefits of BOXER and ensured they are part of the Lynx KF41 package,” Mr Stewart said, “with significant commonality between the vehicle fleets.”

“Extending our partnership with Army and the Commonwealth to deliver the Lynx for Land 400 Phase 3 would deliver a fully integrated armoured vehicle fighting force for the ADF.”
