Shroud Headlamp Adapter Lights the Way

Cleveland-based Team Wendy®, which designs high-quality helmet systems from the inside out, announced the release of its Shroud Headlamp Adapter, which restrains a traditional headlamp strap from sliding off the helmet shell during activity.

The adapter installs tool-free and allows for the attachment of any standard headlamp with an elastic strap that passes behind the lamp to be securely mounted to an NVG shroud. While it works on any helmet with a shroud, it was specifically designed for users of Team Wendy’s EXFIL® SAR Tactical or EXFIL® SAR Backcountry with accessory rails who may already have a traditional headlamp.

“We know our customers value the ability to easily attach their gear to their helmets,” said Team Wendy CEO Jose Rizo-Patron. “Team Wendy’s shroud headlamp adapter prevents them from needing to buy a different headlamp made specifically to attach to a shroud or accessory rails.”

The Team Wendy Shroud Headlamp Adapter retails for $9.99 and is now available for purchase on TeamWendy.com and through authorized Team Wendy dealers.

Low-Profile Light Features Three Functions, Adjustable Eye-Safe IR Aiming Laser

EAGLEVILLE, PA, January 22, 2019 – Streamlight®, Inc., a leading provider of high-performance lighting and weapon light/laser sighting devices, introduced the TLR-VIR® II, a lightweight, compact rail-mounted tactical light with a high intensity white LED, an integrated infrared (IR) LED illuminator, and Class 1 “Eye Safe” IR aiming laser with windage and elevation adjustment controls. The new light securely fits all long guns with MIL-STD-1913 rails and M17/M18 pistols.

The TLR-VIR II enables users to easily toggle easily between bright light and the IR illuminator/laser. This feature allows military and law enforcement personnel to remain in a proper firing position when making the transition from IR mode to white light, and vice versa. The light features a three-position mode rear selector switch, including IR illumination/IR laser, Safe Off (to prevent accidental turn-on), and visible illumination, that enables users to keep hands away from the muzzle during mode selection.

“The TLR-VIR II gives soldiers and first responders the ultimate in tactical lighting flexibility,” said Streamlight President Ray Sharrah. “With its high intensity white light and a long-running IR illuminator and Eye Safe IR laser for optimizing night vision, it’s an essential tool for those deploying with weapon lights.”

The new light, which is powered by a single CR123A lithium battery, uses the latest in LED technology for ultra-bright visible light, providing 5,000 candela, 300 lumens and a 1.5 hour run time. For IR lighting, the TLR-VIR II uses an 850-nanometer LED emitter with 600mW/sr radiant intensity, providing optimum illumination when using night vision equipment; it delivers a run time of 12 hours. Its IR aiming laser has fully adjustable windage and elevation settings.

The TLR-VIR II has an ambidextrous momentary/steady on-off switch. Like other TLR® models, the light has a rail clamp that can be easily attached and tightened with one hand, without the use of tools. The IR illumination/laser mode selection also features a tactile indicator on the light housing for switching modes with ease.

The TLR-VIR II is constructed from machined aircraft aluminum, with a coyote anodized finish body and a high-impact, chemically resistant polymer black switch housing.
The compact light weighs only 3.82 ounces and measures 3.30 inches long and 1.40 inches high. It uses a high temperature, shock-mounted, impact-resistant Borofloat glass lens. It is available in Coyote or Black.

Featuring extensively live-fire tested construction, the TLR-VIR II has an IPX7 rated design for waterproof operation to 1 meter for 30 minutes. It has an MSRP of $600.00.

Synergy Light Update

Friday, June 7th, 2019

With the launch of the Synergy 360 Light, a year and a half ago and success stories regularly coming in from the field, where do we go from here? Answer: We expand.

Originally designed as a throwable tactical light that can provide illumination to an entire area rather than a limited space, smart planning has led to new applications and LED configurations. Today, the 360 can run programs ranging from illumination, marking, motion activation and distraction and can switch from visual light to IR automatically. One application that exploits this feature is designed to be thrown into a room and strobe visual light disorienting a target just long enough to cause a pupillary response. The unit will then switch to 950 nm IR to provide clear NVG illumination and a tactical advantage for operators.

The Synergy 360 Light was designed to grow. While the 360 was still on the “drawing board”, engineers added components that wouldn’t be immediately needed in the initial programming phase. Today this has paid off in the launching of the 360’s latest and greatest software referred to simply as “Version 16”.

If Version 16 had to be summarized in one word “Dependability” would likely be it.  At the heart of Version 16 is a redundant operating system that can repair corrupted code and manage operations in environments previously thought impossible.

The 360 software is intuitive. When deployed, the unit constantly monitors the its status and will employ counter measures so that it can continue to carry out the mission even if physical damage to the unit has occurred. (View demo videos of the 360 at: www.youtube.com)

Building on the 360’s solid engineering and production foundation, Synergy Light has expanded their product line and continues to take on new challenges. Recently production has begun of the “SLB4”, a new marking IR spectrum beacon which is unlike anything else on the market today. The most obvious difference between the SLB4 and other IR spectrum beacons is size and weight. Measuring less than 1.5” square by 7/16” tall and weighing in at less than 25 grams the waterproof unit (currently tested to 350 FSW) can be concealed on targets with much less concern of detection than larger models. Currently, 850 nm, 950 nm units have been tested and the results are impressive. (View demo video at: www.youtube.com) Despite its miniature size, the unit’s IR light is detectible through unmagnified NVG’s from 1 mile away and can run constantly for 20 to 40 days depending on the flash mode. The units themselves are housed in an anodized aluminum case. While 850 nm units will be the first to be released, 1550 nm units have already been designed and will follow.
